Free Moderator App Helps Differentiate “Extreme”

Ultimate Werewolf Extreme is the latest incarnation of the Ultimate Werewolf series of games, and it has been re-imagined in every way, with incredibly detailed and representative artwork, updated rules, a more modern graphic design, and integration with an optional moderator app which makes setting up and playing games easier and faster than ever before.

“Extreme” comes with enough cards to allow for three simultaneous game “villages” of up to 25 players each to take place, with plenty of werewolves, villagers, and even three Seers. In addition, there are dozens of special roles for each of the teams and several independent roles. There’s even an Ivory Tower token, which provides the power to prevent being eliminated first in the game. The moderator score pad is a great way for players to keep track of the players and their roles … but that’s nothing compared to the new Moderator App, which does all of that work for you!

The free Moderator App (available for both iOS and Android) starts off by helping you set up the perfect game with roles that are suited for your group. Then it scans the backs of cards, the players’ names, and even their faces to allow the moderator to see who is in the game, what role they have, and to track who has been marked for elimination each night. The app knows who is still in the game, and even organizes the players in a circle that matches their physical locations relative to each other. It also walks the moderator through each step of the night, waking up each of the roles as needed and then providing a script for what those roles do each night.

One of the hallmarks of the Ultimate Werewolf series has been the variety of roles available in the game. While “Extreme” has dozens of unique roles, the new Ultimate Werewolf Bonus Roles expansion has an additional 45 new roles that can be added in to keep games fresh. Bonus Roles also contains a Tasty Sandwich token that can be used for keeping werewolves at bay (who knew they would prefer eating a sandwich to a villager?), and a Magical Charm that is given to a player by the first werewolf eliminated, protecting that player from the angry village team for a single day.

Because Ultimate Werewolf has been around so long, many players have played hundreds, even thousands, of games. Those players consider themselves experts. For these players, and players who strive to move to that level of play, the new Ultimate Werewolf Pro expansion has professional rules that tweak the game for experienced players and moderators, and more than 50 new professional-level, carefully-balanced roles carefully crafted with those expert players in mind. Pro also contains a Judge’s Gavel token, for a new mode of play where the players elect a Judge who determines if nominated players are eliminated or not.

These new boxed expansions are fully compatible with the Moderator App, too!
