happenings Landmark Society Identifies Five Finger Lakes Properties to Revitalize The Landmark Society of Western New York announced its 2022-23 Five to Revive – a list that identifies opportunities for targeted, strategic revitalization. In 2013, The Landmark Society launched the Five to Revive program to call attention to five properties in Western New York that are in need of investment. Mt. Hope Cemetery’s Old Chapel The rehabilitation of these significant historic properties that include buildings, landscapes or structures can become catalytic projects for the neighborhoods and communities that surround them. “Each year, these five properties become priority projects for Landmark Society staff and programs as we work collaboratively with owners, municipal officials, and developers to facilitate investment and foster rehabilitation, and carry out our mission to protect the region’s unique architectural heritage,” said Tom Castelein, chair of The Landmark Society Five to Revive Committee. The five sites are: Hotel Cadillac in the City of Rochester, Monroe County; Mt. Hope Cemetery’s Old Chapel in the City of Rochester, Monroe County; Urban Tree Canopy in the City of Rochester, Monroe County; Willard State Hospital in the Towns of Romulus and Ovid, Seneca County; and the John Wenrich Cabin at Wesley Hill Nature Preserve in the Towns of Richmond and South Bristol, Ontario County.
