Turkey reflection

Favoured by the Gods, Turkey’s pristine coastline meanders a staggering 8,000km along the shore of three sparkling seas. To the south, crystal waters abound along the sun-drenched Mediterranean. Known as the Turquoise Coast, the white sandy shores are dotted with petite islands and secluded bays that can only be reached by boat. Nature abounds along this magnificent shore, where archaeological treasures, world-class marinas and traditional fishing villages vie for sailors’ favour. Unspoilt

Tradition

A coveted Blue Flag flutters over nearly 300 of Turkey’s beaches and marinas. Rolling waves entice swimmers to the clear blue waters that also offer exceptional scuba diving, snorkelling and sailing.

Turkey’s maritime romance is thousands of years old and, once fishing gülets sprinkled her southern seas. Visitors are always welcome in the many charming villages still to be found along the coast.

Heritage

Horizon

Magnificent archaeological treasures abound along the Turquoise Coast. Its secluded pebbled beaches evoke frolicking gods and relics of ancient civilisations are never far away.

The Mediterranean Coastline makes a diverse and entrancing backdrop. From the majestic Taurus mountains, sweeping to the sea, then lush green forests and rich hues of the Blue Lagoon. Yachts & Gülets

Bodrum – Hisaronu – Bodrum Deluxe | 8 day Blue cruise

Duration 8 days / 7 nights Departure Sundays from 1 Embark Bodrum Harbour by 3:30pm Disembark Bodrum Harbour before 10:30am Luxury Vessel Grand Richmond II (9 cabins)

Day 1: Bodrum

On the first day, your gület will remain anchored in Bodrum Port for dinner and an overnight stay. Bodrum has a history dating back to the 12th century B.C. The city which was called ‘Halicarnassus’ was the birthplace of Herodotus; the ‘Father of History’ who lived in the 5th century B.C. The ‘Mausoleum’ of King Mausolus (350 B.C.), one of the Seven Wonders of the World, is in this city. The only structure that survived from the Classical Era is the Amphitheatre. It is one of the oldest theatres in Anatolia with a capacity of 13,000 guests and is still hosting many shows and concerts for the art-lovers of Bodrum. Another place not to be missed in Bodrum is the landmark of the city, the ‘Castle of Saint Peter’. It is one of the best preserved pieces of Middle Ages architecture in Turkey. ‘Myndos Gate’ through which Alexander the Great entered Halicarnassus is another essential port of call.

Day 2: Palamutbuku – Inceburun

After breakfast, you will be informed about the cruise itinerary and the gület. Then we will start to cruise to Palamutbuku Bay early in the morning. We will anchor at Ince Burun after lunch and swimming breaks. We will stay in this lovely bay for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Aktur – Bencik

After breakfast, cruise to Aktur Bay. Our first stop will be Bencik Bay; which has a very narrow entrance but a unique view from the inside. Bencik is located at the narrowest part of the peninsula dividing Hisaronu Gulf from the Gokova Gulf. It is located at Hisaronu side. Around 550 B.C. the Cnidus people attempted to dig a tunnel in the narrowest part of the peninsula as a defence against the Persians. They began diligently, but in the end they could not manage and the city was conquered. Dinner and an overnight stay will be in Bencik Bay. 16

Yachts & Gülets

Day 4: Emel Sayin – Orhaniye – Selimiye

Anchor in Emel Sayın Bay and you can enjoy a swimming stop in this lovely inlet. For lunch we will dock in Orhaniye Bay where you will see the unique natural tidal formation called ‘Kız Kumu’ (Maiden’s Beach). There are so many myths about this reddish sand-path going from the shore to the inner parts of the sea, which is also suitable for walking along. On a tiny island located in the bay, you can see the ruins of an antique castle and signs of an ancient city. Today, our final destination will be Selimiye for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Dirsekbuku – Bozburun

After anchoring in Dirsekbuku, we visit the small fishing town of Bozburun. This area was once popular for sponge-diving but nowadays this perilous occupation has been replaced by gulet tourism.

Day 6: Datça – Knidos (Cnidus)

Today we cruise to Datca to take on board food and water. Datca was founded by the Dorians who came from Aegean Sea to the southern coast of Ionia around 600 BC. The island has no humidity at all and its fresh air carries plenty of oxygen. The historian Strabon was right when he remarked of Datca’s weather:“God would send his beloved servants to Datca to live longer”. According to one myth, while the Spanish pirates were passing by the coast of Datca they disembarked people with Hansen’s disease in Sariliman Bay. These abandoned folk recovered with the help of the clean weather of Datca. After this stop, we cruise to Cnidus for dinner and an overnight stay. Cnidus was an ancient centre of science, art and architecture. Many great names in history have lived on this island, including the astronomer Eudoxos, and maths professor Dr. Euryphon; the painter Polygontos as well as Skopas, Bryaksis of Faros and Sostrates. Dr. Euryphon and his students

founded the second biggest medical science school in Cnidus. The island also hosts the largest sun clock of its time which was erected by Eudoxsos. Knidos was the home for Aphrodite’s monument and in those times the city was famous for brothels and became popular with sailors and Arabic tradesmen.

Day 7: Black Island – (Poyraz Bay – Meteor Bay) – Bodrum We start cruising early this morning to Karaada (Black Island). Breakfast and a swimming break will be at the turquoise-blue waters of Poyraz Bay, located on the northern side of the island. We will transfer to Meteor Bay, on the southern side, for lunch. Named for its meteor crater, here you may jump over a platform into the deep water. For a small local fee, there are also underwater caves to explore nearby Meteor Bay. Today we cruise to Patmos Island in the morning where there will be a swimming break in one of the beautiful bays. Patmos is not a big island, but it is one of the best known. It was here that St. John completed the last part of The Apocalypse of John. This is why Patmos is sometimes called The Jerusalem of the Aegean. The Monastery of St. John towers above the capital, a village called Chora, and actually the whole island breathes faith and devotion. According to mythology, Patmos was a present from Zeus to his daughter Artemis, goddess of hunting and young women. She was worshipped here in antiquity, and the monastery of St. John was built on her temple. Our yacht will stay in Patmos Port for dinner and an overnight stay. Optional Excursions: Temple of Artemis and Monastery of St. John

Day 5: Lipsi

We set sail for Lipsi Island and a swimming break in one of the many small islands nearby. On Lipsi Island there are beautiful sandy beaches, like Platis and Giolos with crystal green waters. The capital with its white houses, numerous taverns, cafeterias and restaurants is located in a small natural port.

Day 2: Orak Island – Cokertme

After breakfast, you will be informed about the cruise itinerary and the boat. Then we will cruise to Orak Island. Here you will have the chance to swim in the crystal-blue waters of Orak Island. Enjoy lunch before we sail on to Cokertme, a small and picturesque fishing town, for dinner and an overnight stay. If the weather conditions permit, it may be possible to use the sail on the way. Guests are welcome to take a short walk on the shore.

Day 3: Seven Islands (Kufre / Uzun Liman –Long Port–) – English Harbour

Early in the morning we cruise to Seven Islands for another excellent day in this area. The Seven Islands region is full of small islands and coral reefs, ideal for diving, snorkelling, swimming and relaxation. Guests may also enjoy a walk in the forests, filled with pine trees. Our first stop in Seven Islands Region will be Kufre Bay. Then we will anchor at Uzun Liman (Long Port). Afterwards we cruise to English Port for dinner and an overnight stay. The name English Port comes from the time during WWII when British Navy ships docked here. In this area, there are many bays, large and small, that are suitable and sheltered enough for boats to anchor.

Day 4: Cleopatra Island – Karacasogut

We cruise to Sedir (Cedrae) Island. This unique island with its small beach and astonishing clear water is like an open-air museum. You can see the city walls, the temple from the time of Dorians’ reign (later restored as a church), the amphitheatre with 1.500 guest capacity and some vaulted historical buildings. A walk around the remains of pillars, complete with antique writings and ancient stones decorated in relief beckons. Cleopatra Beach, located on this island, has a special kind of sand, only be found in the deserts of Northern Africa. According to myth, King Antonius brought the sand from Egypt for Cleopatra. Our gület sails to Karacasogut for dinner and the night. This lovely village is located at 25 km from Marmaris. Therefore, it is possible to visit Marmaris via ‘dolmus’(mini buses) if you desire. There is also an optional tour to Dalyan – Caunos .

Day 5: Longoz – Tuzla

Morning swimming will soon become a part of your daily routine. For lunch, our captain cruises to Longoz Bay; another place akin to paradise, sheltered by huge pine forests. After lunch, enjoy a short walk in the forest and take a rest in Ali Baba’s local shed-like cafe. Afterwards the gület will be anchoring at Tuzla Bay for a swimming break in the turquoise-blue waters, dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Kargili – Kisebuku (Alakisla Buku)

We will arrive in Kargili Bay (Molla Ibrahim Bay) early this morning. After lunch, the gület will anchor at Kisebuku (Alakisla Buku) where you can visit the Byzantine ruins. We will spend the night in this lovely bay.

Day 7: Pabucburnu – Yaliciftlik – Bodrum

Today we set sail for Pabucburnu after breakfast and enjoy lunch here. Tea will be served in Yaliciftlik Bay. An optional village tour can be arranged from this bay for those wishing to experience local life. Then we cruise back to Bodrum Port for dinner and an the last night onboard.
