Are you considering falconry seriously, or have you recently started with falconry? To introduce you in a proper way to this noble sport of falconry here are a few things that you should be aware of before starting your training.
Before you start Before you commit yourself to falconry by buying falconry equipments, you need to understand that it is a living creature that you’d be dealing with, and an essentially wild one, even though the falcon might be domestically bred. You would need to make time for the training sessions every day without lapse. Keep in mind that you will be having this wild bird-of-prey to fly; it is not simply a household pet bird to simply look at, and it is not at all a fashion accessory. You need to read as many books as you can and watch as many tutorial and self-help videos, in order to get a basic idea of what you are going to take on. You should try and find an experienced falconer who could help you
Accommodation Most importantly, you need to ensure that you have the right type of accommodation, falconry equipment suppliers, and food for your falcon. Aviary doesn’t constitute the right kind of accommodation for falconry birds – it needs to be mews that are fully enclosed for the initial training period and for every night, later on. When the hawk is at least partially-trained, it would need a weathering shelter for when the weather is too bad or it is too warm. This wreathing shelter needs to be well-fenced so as to keep the foxes and dogs out, for times when there’s no one around to all after your hawk.
