ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND HOW TO APPLY On-campus Master's Degree Applicants Entry requirements We welcome applications from those with relevant Level 6 qualifications, or relevant equivalent experience, and a demonstrable interest in their subject. We’ll also welcome your application if you have formal or 'certified' learning (such as training courses not run by universities or colleges) and learning from work experience or self-study. This is called Accreditation of Prior Learning (APEL), and should have been gained within the last five years, and be equivalent to the learning outcomes of our minimum entry qualifications. APEL applicants using experience to apply should note there is a £200 application fee for entry with advanced standing or with exemption from specific modules or credit. If English isn’t your first language, you'll need to demonstrate English language skills that are sufficiently developed for successful completion of your studies. We accept a range of recognised English language qualifications that are equivalent to the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic minimum score of 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening.

48

International applicants who require a Tier 4 student visa to study in the UK must take an approved Secure English Language Test (SELT) to fulfil government visa requirements, or have a recognised language test approved and vouched for by the University. Our Admissions team can help with any questions you may have about study visas or suitable language tests. How to apply You can submit an application for all postgraduate courses at any time. However, we advise you to apply early because we allocate places as applications are received, and an early application will increase your chances of qualifying for any bursaries or scholarships on offer. To make an enquiry or apply for a course, contact our Applicant Services team: Email: admissions@falmouth.ac.uk Telephone: +44 (0)1326 213730 Post: Admissions Office, Falmouth University, Falmouth Campus, Falmouth, Cornwall TR11 4RH Or you can apply online via the course pages on our website: falmouth.ac.uk

Flexible Master's Degree Applicants Entry requirements At Falmouth, we assess every applicant on individual merit. We’re looking for students who can demonstrate enthusiasm and potential to succeed in their chosen subject, and consider a range of qualifications and relevant experience. You should have an honours degree or Level 6 equivalent qualification, however candidates without a degree or formal qualification are still encouraged to apply.

If English isn’t your first language we accept a range of recognised English language qualifications that are equivalent to the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum overall score of 6.5 and a minimum of 6.0 in reading, writing, speaking and listening. This includes the TOEFL IBT (minimum overall score of 88 with at least 21 in all four components); and Pearson (minimum overall score of 60 with at least 55 in all four components). Research Degree Applicants Entry requirements The normal minimum entry requirement for a place on the Research Degree at Falmouth University is an upper second class honours (2:1) degree of a British university or recognised institution of higher education, or an equivalent qualification from an institution outside of the UK. However, a Master's degree in an appropriate subject is considered to be a particularly valuable preparation for the academic and intellectual demands of an MPhil or PhD. In some instances, applicants without the minimum academic requirement as outlined above may be considered for a place on the Research Degree if they can demonstrate appropriate alternative qualifications, relevant professional experience, or previous research.

falmouth.ac.uk/apply

If English is not your first language, you will normally need to demonstrate that you are suitably proficient in English before we can enrol you on the Research Degree. You can do this by providing evidence of one of the following: A recent Falmouth-approved English Language Test (ELT) score which meets the University's requirements for the Research Degree: either an IELTS minimum overall test result score of 7.0 with a 7.0 in writing and with no other component score lower than 6.0, or an equivalent test score. Recent completion of an MA level course of study (Distinction only) in a majority Englishspeaking country. Each applicant is assessed on an individual basis and if you are offered a place on the Research Degree, then depending on your level of English language proficiency as demonstrated through your application form and interview, we will inform you whether we would require a new IELTS result before you can begin your PhD studies. Please be aware that we can no longer accept TOEFL test results for this purpose. How to apply You can apply for a research degree online. You may wish to submit an expression of interest form before you apply. This is a pre-application process where candidates who are interested in pursuing a research degree at Falmouth can introduce their ideas for a research proposal but it is not compulsory. To find out more about the process and to apply visit falmouth.ac.uk/research/phdmphil/how-to-apply If you have any questions about the application process please contact the Research & Development team on research@falmouth.ac.uk or 01326 255831.
