HELLO FROM THE GREENBANK We’re so excited to be the official headline sponsors for The Greenbank Fal River Festival for the next three years. The festival has long been a key date in the diary throughout the region and we are delighted to now be able to work even closer with all our friends at Fal River.
4
For the first time this year, we'll be hosting the opening night celebrations on Friday 24th May at our quayside pub The Working Boat.
As partners, we hope to make the event bigger and better than ever, and for years to come! Moor up on our pontoons and wander over to our event marquee on The Greenbank's quay, which will be a lively hub throughout the extended bank holiday weekend. Festival goers will enjoy free entry, delicious pub grub, plenty of local brews and live music on Friday and Saturday evening, whilst we host our Mini Beer Festival. Or join us for a lazy Sunday afternoon, whilst blues singer Patrick Gilbert plays the piano and our kitchen team rustle up our famous roasts. More of a gin fan? Don't miss our Gin Club with Tarquin's at The Greenbank on Wednesday 29th May. Gin and tonics, cocktails, tasters and moreish nibbles - our kind of evening!
There's a jam-packed programme throughout the 10 day festival and we hope you'll enjoy it as much as we will. Ben Young Managing Director

DAZZLE FERRY CRUISE WITH GUEST SPEAKER RODERICK DE NORMAN & MEET THE ARTIST KLEINER SHAMES
BOOKING ESSENTIAL
Prepare to be dazzled on this special cruise marking the official launch of the Fal River Dazzle Ferry.
GRAYS WHARF, PENRYN 10am - 4pm
OPEN STUDIO JON DORAN Internationally exhibited artist Jon Doran makes paintings with classical themes such as still life, landscape and portraiture, yet explores these in a digitally influenced and fragmented approach to painting. His studio is based at the newly developed Grays Wharf, which also has a gallery on the ground floor open to the public.
A homage to the Dazzle Ships of World War I... A birthday celebration of an 80 year old ferryboat, with a colourful past... And a commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the D-day Landings... Step aboard the dazzle cruise, and discover the many layers of wartime history surrounding this extraordinary new work of art. Sit back, admire the views, and join us in honouring the heroes of D-Day as we sail around the banks of the river. Guests will be joined by former soldier and published author Roderick De Norman, who will shed light on the critical role of the Fal River as an assembly and embarkation site for the D-Day landings in June 1944. Meet the artist, Kleiner Shames, who designed and painted the dazzle ferry. Kleiner will be on board to answer questions about the artwork and his experience, behind the scenes. JEM SOUTHAM: BIRDS RIVERS RAIN Jem Southam is a leading British landscape photographer whose work, which explores natural phenomena, is usually presented in series. At Kestle Barton Jem will show a new development in his work in which individual pictures stand alone, each a notation of a moment, on a particular walk, on a given day. The theme of walking in nature is reflected in an exciting programme of walks and talks that will accompany the exhibition. Two walks are on offer on Thursday 30 May: a Bird Walk with Math Southam and a Photo Walk with Jem Southam. A weekend of programming at the end of the exhibition, 'Representing Nature' (1-2 June), will include contributions from Jem Southam. There will be further contributions from well known naturalist/writer Mark Cocker (Crow Country) and the musician and poet, Virginia Astley; who recently published her debut poetry collection, The English River (2018). www.kestlebarton.co.uk
