CLUBS & CLASSES
Extra activities offer your child so many opportunities. Not just the chance to try their hand at something new, or develop an existing interest, but to also have fun. Perhaps it’s for exercise or maybe the chance to socialise and make friends outside of a school or nursery setting. Whatever the reason (and there doesn’t actually need to be a reason!) let your child take the lead in what they’d like to try. Read on - and if you get in touch with any of these brilliant class providers do tell them you found them in Families Edinburgh.
CHILDREN’S SPORTS ACADEMY
Advertisement
A primary school teacher for 14 years and a certified Gymnastics Activity Instructor, our Founder Sally-May Kirby has gained extensive experience in coaching sport to primary school-aged children. A keen netball player and swimmer, she wanted to pass on her love of sport to her own children but felt there was a lack of opportunity for children to access a variety of coached sports from a young age.
“Many parents can identify with this scenario” explains Sally-May. “Your child shows an interest in taking part in a sport but you have no idea where to start. What will they enjoy? Which one will “stick”? Can I fit it into our busy week?

“Ideally, children should be able to try out different sports to find their “one” and benefit from the physical, mental and social advantages that sport participation brings. At Children's Sports Academy we offer a “one stop shop” in the coaching of primary school-aged children and give all participants access to a variety of sports. Our sessions take place under one roof within the state of the art facilities of The Galleon Club in George Watson’s campus where our participants receive progressive, professional coaching in gymnastics, tennis and football.”
Children’s Sports Academy provides children with the ideal foundation to build a lifelong love of sport and reap the benefits that sport participation brings.
