Edinburgh Young Musicians
Catering for 3- to 18-year-olds, Edinburgh Young Musicians believes in developing various aspects of children’s musicianship before exposing them to the discipline of learning an instrument or singing in a choir, offering musical play & musical workshop classes to children in their final pre-school year as well as P1, P2 & sometimes P3, leading to beginners' instrumental classes, choirs, orchestras, chamber music and musicianship classes. The aim is to help all children to enjoy music and realise their individual musical potential, with the understanding that the better you do something, the more satisfaction and pleasure you will gain from it. The younger classes are open to children with no musical experience. Children who already play instruments or sing are welcome to join orchestras, chamber music groups, choir and musicianship classes. A Bursary Fund aims to ensure that nobody is unable to attend EYM classes for purely financial reasons.
