Myclasswasthefirstclassattheschoolto‘doForestSchool’ andthey(andtheadults)lovedeveryminuteoftheafternoon.
Somepeoplemightquestion‘losing’anafternoon’slearning withinapacked,timetabledcurriculum.I’drespondthatrather thanloss,theexperiencewasinfactverybeneficialtohelping thesechildren,preparingthemingeneralforlifebeyond education.
Teamwork,communicationskills,riskanalysis,tryingthings outsideyourcomfortzone,resilienceandindependenceare justafewthingsthatmyclassof7and8-year-oldslearnedthat afternoonandtheycontinuedtolearnandmakeprogressin theseareasthroughouttheirtimeatprimaryschool.
