Research shows that many people feel like they are already recycling as much as they can. But according to data, over 26,000 tonnes of recyclable waste can be found in Surrey’s rubbish bins.

For local councils and the tax payer, recycling makes financial sense because it costs less to recycle waste than it does to dispose of it as rubbish. It’s also better for the environment as recycling generates less carbon dioxide than rubbish disposal.

• letters, envelopes, paper, card, leaflets, catalogues, brochures, magazines, junk mail, newspapers, cardboard;

• food packaging - plastic pots, tubs and trays;

• plastic bottles - shampoo, detergent, and cleaning products;

• glass bottles and jars;

• metal food tins - tuna, soup, fruit, pet food etc.

Kids in the Kitchen at The Atrium,

Camberley

Kids in the Kitchen will run every Monday during the school holidays (31 July, 7, 14, 21 Aug) and will have the kids learning about food and nutrition in a fun and exciting environment. 30 minute sessions run throughout each day from 11am-4pm. Each week, children can make a simple, nutritious recipe. For children of all ages and skill levels. Free, but charity donations welcome. Click here to book or join on the day.

Animal Encounters Tours are running on Sat 15 July and Sat 5 Aug at 11am & 2pm.

On these tours

‘Summer of Play’ at the National Trust

Come and try your hand at sports, games and fun activities at a National Trust place near you this summer! There will be a range to try - challenge your friends and family to different activities and have some fun. ‘Summer of Play’ is running at:

Hatchlands Park East Clandon, GU4 7RT Sat 22 July – Sun 3 Sept 10am-4pm. As well as lots of sports to try, say hello to the donkeys plus there will be Nautical Adventures with sea-themed games, nautical dressing up and a trail through the garden and parkland.
