DEAR FANS, Welcome to the 2020 Volvo Car Open! This year we are celebrating the best in women’s tennis and our tournament’s 20th year on Daniel Island, in beautiful Charleston, SC. This tournament also represents our 48th year as a professional women’s tennis event on the WTA Tour. We are very proud to call Volvo Car USA our title sponsor for the fifth year. South Carolina is home to Volvo Cars’ first manufacturing plant in the US and their team is producing the all-new S60 sedan. There are nearly 1,500 employees at the plant in Ridgeville, SC working tirelessly to build this model for worldwide distribution. The all-new Volvo S60 will be on display at the tournament, along with Volvo’s full SUV range, including the awardwinning 7-passenger XC90, XC60 and XC40. Take a test drive during finals weekend and experience Scandinavian luxury, unparalleled technology and human-centric innovation. Growing the game of tennis continues to be a priority for the Volvo Car Open. Last year, in conjunction with our partner Truist (formerly SunTrust Bank), we provided more than 10,000 tickets to children under the age of 16. We’re thrilled to continue this initiative in 2020. We will also be hosting a WTA “Future Stars” camp the week of the tournament for young women who demonstrate strong skills on the court and leadership off the court. Lastly, through our partnership with USTA, kids will have the opportunity to participate in the Net Generation program all week long. The future of this incredible sport is in good hands here in Charleston! As always, we strive to deliver an exceptional fan experience, both on and off the court. On the court, you will see a larger presence of video screens for fan enjoyment and interaction. In partnership with FoxTenn and the WTA, electronic line calling will be used for the first time ever at a WTA clay court event. This technology will allow our players and attendees to see the “real bounce” of the ball during player challenges. Fans will get to witness play from a world-class field of athletes, featuring multiple Grand Slam winners, top-ranked players and past Volvo Car Open champions. This year is shaping up to be our strongest field ever. Off the court, we will have bigger and better hospitality and dining options for attendees, with daily happy hours and live music offerings in all our destinations. Our opening Family Weekend, presented by MUSC Health, was a huge success at last year’s event. So, we’re bringing it back in 2020! Our special yoga event returns on semifinals Saturday, as well as our southern brunch on Easter Sunday. We are also excited to welcome GRAMMY Award winning artist and country music star Jennifer Nettles to Althea Gibson Club Court on Saturday, April 11 for a special performance. Wilson, the new official tennis ball provider of the Volvo Car Open, has designed the very first performance tennis ball with fully recyclable packaging. The Triniti ball comes in a unique octagonal paper container, which can be recycled after use. The ball’s core has also been redesigned to extend its lifespan outside of a pressurized can. TOURNAMENT INFORMATION & REMINDERS FOOD & BEVERAGES No food, beverages, coolers or glass containers may be brought onto tournament grounds, apart from one sealed bottle of water per person. The Volvo Car Open has a variety of choices for your dining pleasure to satisfy your food and beverage needs. NO SMOKING POLICY The Volvo Car Open is a non-smoking facility. Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is not permitted anywhere on the tournament grounds. MATCH SCHEDULE All start times and match schedules are subject to change. Check VolvoCarOpen.com for updates. CAMERAS No flash photography is allowed. Cameras are prohibited for any purpose other than using photographs for personal and private domestic use. Such photographs cannot be exploited or displayed in any manner or in any medium whatsoever without the express written consent of the WTA. LOST & FOUND Any lost items can be found at the Guest Services Tent located near the main gate. TICKET POLICIES Please be prepared to present your ticket to our usher staff at all times. Patrons wanting to leave and re-enter the tournament grounds will need to obtain a hand stamp upon exiting. You will need both a hand stamp and the ticket stub to re-enter. Keep your tickets! No ticket or credential holder may continually collect, disseminate, transmit, publish or release from the grounds of the tournament any match scores or related statistical data during match play (from the commencement of a match through its conclusion for any commercial, betting or gambling purposes) REFUNDS/EXCHANGES There are no refunds or exchanges. All sales are final. UMBRELLAS While umbrellas are allowed on-site, please be advised that you may be asked to discontinue use if they obstruct sight lines of those around you.
RAIN POLICY The following policy applies to individual session tickets purchased directly (and not via ticket auction, exchange, resale or other secondary ticket outlet) through Ticketmaster, VolvoCarOpen. com or in person at the Volvo Car Stadium Box Office. Please note that this policy does not apply to weeklong subscription or any tickets issued on a Complimentary or Trade basis. If a session is cancelled and no matches are completed, Tournament management will make every effort to reasonably accommodate the individual session ticket holder on a subsequent session, if held. The Volvo Car Open cannot guarantee ticket availability, exchange of equal value or comparable seat location. There will be NO REFUNDS OR CREDITS. If one match is completed on Stadium Court, a session is considered complete and no exchanges or refunds will be made. In addition, patrons are advised that the Volvo Car Open schedule of play is subject to change for all sessions. Tickets are not eligible for refund or exchange due to one or more changes in the schedule of play. Please note: Information on scheduling changes can be obtained by visiting our website's homepage. PARKING Parking is available in several locations on Daniel Island. Free shuttle service to the main entrance will be provided for those parking only in the satellite lots. BAG POLICY For the comfort and safety of all patrons, bags and backpacks will be screened upon entry. Once checked, bags and backpacks will receive a tag that shows they have been screened. Anyone leaving and wanting to re-enter will have their tag removed. Upon re-entry, bag will again be screened and tagged. Clear bags will be visually scanned and permitted without needing a bag tag. The following items are prohibited from entering the grounds: glass bottles or containers; alcoholic beverages; weapons; illegal substances; bikes, skateboards, scooters, self-balancing scooters or roller blades; pets except for service animals. Prohibited items that are discovered during inspections must either be returned to their owner’s vehicle/transportation or discarded. The Volvo Car Open will not provide storage area for these items. Guests arriving by public transportation must take caution not to bring any prohibited items as no exceptions will be made. * Please visit our website for more information on prohibited items and new policies.
