We have had to say a fond farewell to some Places to Visit; the Llama Park at Wych Cross is sadly no longer open, and I shall miss their tiffin, brownies and Rocky Road squares, but as one cafe closes another one opens, and I have high hopes for the homemade cakes on offer at the new Beacon Bikes Cafe just outside Albourne and Hurstpierpoint.

Cut out a cardboard circle about 8cm in diameter. Divide the circle into 8 sections using your ruler & pencil. Cut a little way along each line to create 8 notches. Draw arrows on your circle. Push a pencil through the centre to create a small hole. Tie the 7 lengths of embroidery floss together & thread through the centre of your circle, with the knot on the opposite side to your arrows. Separate your threads so that each one sits in a separate notch. There will be one spare. Working backwards from the spare notch, count 1, 2, 3 threads. Move the third thread into the spare notch. You now have a new spare notch. Count backwards 3, and move that thread into the spare notch. Repeat until your bracelet is long enough. Remove the threads from the card and tie together close to the end of your braiding. Your bracelet is done!

It’s now managed by The National Trust and Sussex Wildlife Trust. You can reach Ditchling Beacon via Breeze Buses which are open top in summer - weather permitting. West Park Local Nature Reserve Uckfield. Relatively small reserve covering just over 8.5 acres of woodland, grassland, marshy areas and sandstone outcrops. Boardwalks provide easy access around the site. Wolstonbury Hill has been an important landmark for thousands of years.
