elcome to the Spring 2020 magazine.

My name is Gil and I have taken over as editor the the Crawley and Hosham edition of the Family Grapevine from Nikki. Many of you will know me as I used to do the desktop publishing, events collection and distribution. Now I am doing it all! A bit more detail about myself: I am 67 with two married daughters, three grandsons aged 16,14 and 4 and a granddaughter who was born at the end of November last year. I have been involved with The Family Grapevine since 2002 in a variety of rolls. One of my main passions is Amateur Dramatics and I am currently a member of the Wookey Theatre Group and we have recently done our pantomime called “ A Piratey Panto“ in which I played one of the Dames. It was great fun. I have been involved in AmDrams since 1980. I am looking forward to promoting and maintaining the good level of support that Nikki had established. You will need: (Makes about 20) 300g icing sugar plus extra for dusting 200g of condensed milk Peppermint essence Food colouring Sugar-coated chocolate sweets Small flower or fluted cutter about 2 1/2 cm in diameter (we didn't have a flower cutter so used a small fluted one which worked fine)

Instructions: Put 300g of icing sugar in a bowl. Add 2 drops of peppermint essence. Now add condensed milk a tablespoon at a time (it should take about 4-5) mixing until you get a smooth dough. Take about 1/3 of the dough and knead in a drop of food colouring, adding more icing sugar if needed. Repeat with the remaining dough. Roll out the fondant until it is about 5mm thick and cut out some flower shapes. Press a sugar-coated sweet into the centre of each flower. Leave in a cool, dry place overnight to harden (not the fridge). So pretty, and delicious too!
