Family Reach & The White House Cancer Moonshot
As part of the White House Cancer Moonshot, we’re collaborating and innovating with other leaders to reduce the cancer death rate by 50% in the next 25 years.
Scientific advances alone won’t save patients. President Biden invited Family Reach to join the Moonshot because we focus exclusively on the financial side of cancer. Our research, family stories, and programs prove that financial treatment must be a standard part of cancer care for all families.
Here are just a few of the initiatives we’re discussing with other members of the Cancer Moonshot:
Nueva Vida Partnership
Nueva Vida is a support network for Latinos with — or at risk of — cancer. Working together, we’re removing the financial and systemic barriers standing between Latinos and the cancer screenings and treatment they need.
Cancer Equity Initiative
Research shows that Black and Hispanic/Latino patients are more likely to skip treatment or appointments to save money.1 Our Cancer Equity Initiative focuses on reaching these patients and achieving cancer equity through financial intervention.
Financial Intervention Pilots
We placed a Family Reach social worker onsite at seven Philadelphia treatment centers, where 73% of those supported were members of the BIPOC community. The results — more than 450 families received Family Reach services, ensuring they could maintain access to life-saving treatment.
Family Reach is inviting select partners to join us at this incredible table of oncology experts, patients, and policy makers to help us scale our efforts and enact meaningful change on a national level.
