In the gaming world the early months of the year are notoriously quiet but things do seem to have picked up a bit earlier this year with a few significant releases and a handful of digital events, February treated us well. Nintendo, after a record breaking 351 days, finally gave the fans what they had been pleading for, a (general) Nintendo Direct! February also gave us a digital Blizzcon event, a Playstation State of Play and even a Pokémon Presents stream. The standout announcements from these events have to be Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl which all managed to place well in the monthly PR and social media rankings despite being revealed in the last days of the month. When it came to releases, whilst the month wasn’t as stacked as later months will be, there was still a trickle of sought-after games. The Nioh Collection made its way to Playstation 5, Little Nightmares II reared its terrifying head and Switch players got the chance to experience Super Mario 3D World with the additional Bowser’s Fury content. Giga Cat Mario for the win! This edition of Tactics will explore the most discussed topics for Valheim (page 12), reveal how Little Nightmares II and Persona 5 Strikers faired in the hands of the critics (page 5) and showcase the highest achievers in the PR and social media space.
