September was once again a big month in the gaming world, streams took place with regularity, some of the biggest games of the year released and TGS took on its first ever fully digital event. It’s clear the plans are in place for the Holiday season and we all better buckle up for what is coming next! The first half of the month of September was kicked off in a big way with a Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary Direct followed by another Ubisoft Forward stream and then Playstation revealed all with a jam-packed Showcase event. Things didn’t slow down in the second half of the month either with both next gen consoles going up for pre-order, Microsoft announcing the purchase of Bethesda parent company ZeniMax and Tokyo Game Show taking place, it felt like we were in the middle of a gaming news tsunami. Amongst all the news and new announcements September also managed to bare host to a plethora of significant title launches. Marvel’s Avengers, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, Hades and Super Mario 3D All-Stars all saw release, treating gamers worldwide to hours of enjoyment. In this issue of Tactics we’ll take a look at the Super Mario 3D All-Stars most discussed topics (page 12), find out how Hades and Mafia: Definitive Edition were received (page 5) and breakdown which titles made the most noise in the month just gone.
