AN EVENING WITH FRANK BRUNO HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD 20TH ANNIVERSARY DINNER Former WBC World Heavy Weight Champion, Frank Bruno, will be holding An Evening With… at the John Smith’s Stadium on Friday 13th February. Iconised as one of Britain’s most popular fighters, Bruno claimed his title of Heavyweight Champion at Wembley Stadium in September, 1995, after beating the 1994 victor Oliver McCall.

The evening will be raising funds for The Leanne Baker Trust, founded by Melthamborn artist Darren Baker, which supports those suffering from mental illness and depression.

At the Stadium dinner, guests will be able to hear Bruno’s life story as well getting the opportunity to meet Frank* and enjoy a delicious three course meal. Halifax based comedian Pete Emmett will be compering the evening, providing top entertainment across the night.

SODEXO PROVIDE HOSPITALITY ADVICE TO NEXT GENERATION PROFESSIONALS Hospitality students from the University of Huddersfield were invited to the Stadium for advice from industry experts Sodexo Prestige, the Stadiums conference and events team. The 50 Hospitality Business Management students who attended on the day were offered tips and advice from our experienced events team. This included insight from Project Manager, Annie Marchalle, on her personal experience in the industry and the wide array of

conferences and events hosted by the Stadium. MD of KSDL, Gareth Davies, also spoke with the students about the history of the Stadium and its pioneering position as the UK’s first community Stadium.

The students, all of whom are in their second year, were then involved in a question and answer session with Retail Manager Jason Harvey, who provided relatable insight into his graduate career path and the challenges faced in large scale hospitality.

Annie said “It’s always a pleasure to showcase our facilities – particularly to the next generations of hospitality experts. The Stadium has a special place in the community and the wide range of events we hold – from conferences to our hugely popular Christmas private parties – is testament to that.”

PROHMS OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH PROVIDERS HAVE BECOME NEW PARTNERS OF THE JOHN SMITH’S STADIUM Phroms Occupational Health Providers have become new partners of the John Smith’s Stadium, in a campaign to increase awareness of their individual and business services, through prominent branding on the flood light pod and online and offline marketing engagement. Prohms is an established group of qualified health care professionals, including occupational health physicians, specialist practitioners, nurses, occupational health technicians and physiotherapists, based in West and South Yorkshire. With offices in Huddersfield and Penistone, Prohms understands the increasing demand on local industry to manage the health and wellbeing of the workforce, they offer a wide range of services direct to business, promoting and encouraging health

We are delighted that the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce has extended their partnership with the Stadium for a further year. As part of the agreement, KSDL also renews its full Patronage Membership of the Chamber. Managing Director Gareth

Offering seminars, clinics and information stands to all guests, this year’s conference was hailed as the best one yet, with around 800 people involved on the day.

A fantastic and heartfelt event, with Barrows Willie Horne and Castleford’s Malcolm Reilly OBE being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Declared as the biggest night in the Huddersfield business calendar, the Business Awards hosted a sell-out audience who were treated to entertainment from BBC’s Look North’s Harry Gration.

Over 1,000 guests attended this spectacular event. With activities inspired by Disney’s Frozen and a Santa’s Grotto, it offered a festive day out for the whole family.

DISNEY ON ICE COMPETITION WINNERS! Congratulations to our lucky competition winner Suzanne Cope, who won 4 tickets for her and her family to the autumn 2014 Disney on Ice Tour.

ANNOUNCING OUR NEW PARTNER The Stadium is delighted to announce a new partnership with Simon on the Streets, a charity which has been supporting street sleepers in Huddersfield since 2010. Our new partnership will not only help raise awareness of their role in the community but to support them in their efforts to make positive changes to the lives of these vulnerable people in West Yorkshire.Watch out for details on #sleepwithsimon event at the Stadium on 23 April.

NEW TENANT FOR THE STADIUM New Stadium tenant Legacy Sport deliver PE, Sport and Health programmes in school and community settings with the ultimate aim of promoting healthy, active lifestyles. The social enterprise was incorporated in 2011 and has mainly delivered to date in North Kirklees. Programmes include Bikeability training for young people, out of school hours sports clubs, teacher training, holiday camps and health programmes. The community interest company has developed rapidly and now employs a team of 19 people.

MD for Legacy Sport, Shaun Fox said “Legacy Sport look to work in collaboration whenever possible to maximise impact in communities. Our move to the iconic John Smith’s Stadium has already reaped rewards with new exciting partnerships formed. We now aim to expand geographically and our new central location will help to facilitate further scale up.”

NEW ADDITION TO THE KILNER BANK STAND The Stadium is pleased to announce a new addition to the Kilner Bank Stand! The brand new Hollands pie shop, situated via the entrance on the left, will provide match-day fans with a variety of pies served with mash, gravy and a drink of choice. The meal deals will be available from £6 or on offer at 2 for £10. Going forward we are looking to open four more kiosks this year, to create a quicker and more efficient service for our fans.
