Editor’s Note Eccentricity will sway you away when you’re a Writer! What drives me or most of us slogging away in the corporate world is the zeal to make work of your own, regardless of which side of the corporate hiring table you are sitting at, employer or employee. Eccentricity will proceed to sway you away at quite a swift pace when you have a life of a writer, especially the one who has a brain that’s infected by the fancies of an eidetic. In your head as a writer, to be honest, you may have created enchanted forests, united a few kingdoms, killed dragons, won battles, etc. We have a wanderers head and are supremely prone to explore, dissect, question or document things in their most real forms. A free will, we don’t feel up to the task of writing, our thoughts are happy to bargain all means of disruptions and alterations. We have mastered the art of stalling, being able to validate practically any action (or dormancy) as a “study” or “part of the study.” The beauty that we manage to generate from this procrastination is uncanny and no two writers would bring out the same script and if given the opportunity of solace with our devices we, our minds might finish of volumes or none at all. But having said that, a writer’s mind is a wonder in its own, it is a stroll of a craft and inspiration for a many. Sometimes partly impractical and permanently magic, our minds are the enclosed space of wonders and intelligence. Our heads as a thinker would be humming in the background even while we are busy doing the most mundane chores like banking, calling, watching a movie, on an outing and more. Though epiphany for us is an insight that we perceive in the sudden moments, they are just the instantaneous cookies we earn for ourselves with zero labor. What I have learned in all these years of being true to the writing skills is that this trivial mind will drag you to rabbit holes and dark corners, it will pop the society with questions that they may not know the answers to and would try to deceive your mind with doubts. It’ll wrestle your thoughts to be inquisitive about each new detail and locate a plot with the fitting characters. But not one, not even one real writer you will come across who would trade or betray their creative bend, skills to pen anything down, curiosity or imagination for anything that the universe has to offer! From the other side of the screen and perspective, both, I really hope you take time to read everything in the magazine, everything the writer has put their mind and sweat to, where each one of us has exploited our flair to the best of our capacity. Because here we bring you real stories of real people who have risen from between you, me and our surroundings, to make history of their own kind. Learning is a process that’s visited rarely, and I can dare to say, we as writers, here at Business Connect Magazine are drawn to it time and again. So if you are a writer or otherwise, I’m sure you will find things too, be it a real-time story or something that may enlighten you in our blogs, it could be anything, but it will. MGC & KNAV For Organizations Seeking Seamless

and Value Driven Risk Advisory Services

‘‘

Yashasvi Khushu | Business Connect

I had read a play written by Shakespeare in my 12th standard and took away a significant message from a statement in the same - ‘I wasted time, now doth time waste me.’ This statement signifies the importance of making the most of the present and has stayed with me as a strong belief since then.

MGC & KNAV Global Risk Advisory LLP (‘MGC & KNAV’), which was formed with a vision to ‘be the best providers of risk advisory services, wherever it operates’ has in a short period of three and a half years shown that it takes more than a brilliant idea, a great team and money to create a successful organization and that too a leader in the sphere with in which it operates. The mantra of this success story has been a clear vision and unwavering belief in the realization of the same. A focussed risk advisory services organization that understands the pain points of its clients and is able to progressively, effectively, efficiently and passionately address the existing and emerging challenges by giving them value-oriented solutions. It is inspiring to see how this organization that started with a simple conviction has quickly progressed to not only setting new standards in terms of delivering a wide array of risk advisory services but also earning several recognitions such as ‘10 most promising GRC firms’ in India for 2017; and ‘The risk advisory services firm of the year’ in 2018. Most importantly, MGC & KNAV is today the first port of call for the management of small, medium and large organizations across industry sectors in India, when they need assurance over their systems, controls, policies, procedures, governance and risks. Monish G Chatrath (‘MGC’), Managing Partner, MGC & KNAV Global Risk Advisory LLP One of the best known names in risk advisory and corporate governance in India, with 29 years of experience in international finance - both in the profession (Arthur Andersen, KPMG, Grant Thornton & Mazars) and the industry (CFO of Barista Coffee [nominated for the CFO of the year], EXL and Schlumberger), MGC has been rated as one of India’s 50 most promising CEOs in 2017 and was recognized to be amongst India’s 30 most trusted www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Special Edition April 2019 INDIA

CEOs in 2018. A professional who has built sustainable brands in his distinguished career and one who chose the daunting path of entrepreneurship, in partnership with KNAV in 2015 to create MGC & KNAV. Business Connect: How have you adapted yourself to the latest needs of the market? MGC: We are currently witnessing a relatively unique environment – one which is completely unprecedented, and one where we need to retain our focus on innovation and reinvention to stay ahead of the curve. Legislative, economic and political developments across the globe are increasingly driving the requirements for specialized risk advisory services and some key jurisdictions in this context are the US, Europe Asia, Japan, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and of course India as well. We are a part of an international organization called the KNAV Group and a member of the US$ 2.6 billion Atlanta headquartered Allinial Global that currently has offices in 393 locations worldwide. These strategic partnerships and associations provide us with the means to exchange our ideas, track developments and share best practices on a global platform. And we are connected - on a daily basis, on an ongoing basis and on a need basis, on various portals, on various committees of KNAV and Allinial Global, as we exchange views and track developments. We subscribe to various data bases and focus on market intelligence, not just in terms of economic developments but also changes and legislations that are taking place, to ascertain their potential impact on the business of our clients. This enables us to carefully adapt our services in response to the market (for example our bespoke model for enterprise wide risk management), making modifications to our existing offerings (for example our forensic services) and developing new services (for example our GDPR and data protection services).

[ 12 ]

Business Connect: What gives you an edge over your peers? MGC: Our ability to embrace technology with a focus on speed, agility, simplicity, innovation and value, while empowering our people and focusing on the H2H (human to human) factor have differentiated us from our competition. Layers within an organization hide weaknesses and mask mediocrity and consequently, I have laid emphasis on an open-door policy in spirit and form, by making myself accessible and staying regularly connected to develop a relatively unique relationship with each member of my team. Externally, we have prioritized relationship-building over monetary gains and this has enabled our clients to view us as an extension of their office instead of an external consultant. These are the threads that knit the fabric of what constitutes the DNA of MGC & KNAV and sets us apart from other firms in our space. Business Connect: Did you face any obstacle during the initial days? How did you sail through them? MGC: A key element of our journey has been our consistency, persistence and personalization. MGC & KNAV was not an over night success and we have faced many struggles, challenges and set backs. It has been the belief in our ability to realize our vision, our ability to continuously raise the bar in terms of the quality of our work and our passion to define what may appear to many to be the impossible and set out to achieve the same while scaling new heights at various stages of this journey, that has seen us through. Our vision is clearly articulated and we have successfully ignited an unparalleled passion and sense of belonging within our people. Through transparency and ongoing engagement with our people, we have made sure that they always knew where we were going, what we were doing and the fact that as an organization, we were simply unwilling to stay stagnant. While honesty and teamwork may appear to be glamorous phases, I believe that these have been the most powerful propellers for MGC & KNAV’s growth. Business Connect: What was your learning during challenging times? MGC: Challenges are an inevitable part of life. Our biggest learning has been never to give up. Even when the odds were stacked against us, we stayed focused on the realization of our vision. We may have not won all the pitches that we submitted, we may not have signed up with all the clients that we wanted and we may not have hired all the people we wanted at the time we wanted them. But the fact of the matter is that we have never stopped short of putting in our best efforts because we believed that we could do what we had set out to. As such, we never viewed any set back as a failure and that was our learning. We believed that success would come our way as long as we keep within sight the bigger picture and stay focused on our vision. I have often stated that every dream can be realized and so can ours. As I reflect further, I feel that the best way to learn has been to fall down, only to get up and fight again. Business Connect: What kind of clients are you serving? MGC: MGC & KNAV’s clients are a varied mix of small, medium, and large Indian and multinational organizations across domains and sectors and also include several new age and established companies.

Business Connect: How do you ensure the unbreakable faith of clients in your company? MGC: Through one simple factor that is trust, which emanates from, humility, respect, empathy and accountability – in thought, word and action. While being good at what we do is important, without gaining the trust of our clients, this aspect by itself will not ensure sustainable success. We commit only to what we can deliver and are honest about our capabilities, while identifying solutions for our clients instead of imposing our service offerings on them. We do not cut corners, we do not differentiate on quality or the level of attention on the basis of the size of our client organization or the fee. We believe in providing each client with premium service, regardless of whether they are a Fortune 500 company or a small business. We respond to all mails and communication promptly. I personally feel that it is important to acknowledge the receipt of an email as quickly as possible, even when one may not immediately have the solution being sought. This gives our clients comfort that their mail has been acknowledged and most importantly the fact that we are on it. Business Connect: How much do you rely upon Research and Development? MGC: We cannot do without R&D since its impact is fundamental to growth. Research enables us in adding quality to our delivery through an understanding of business dynamics relating to the industries in which our clients operate. Moreover, we are also using tools in the nature of artificial intelligence, robotic simulation, and data analysis. The ability to be able to find the right tool, to be able to customize it to a pertinent requirement and to be able to take it to our client in a cost-effective manner requires an extensive amount of research & development. Business Connect: How difficult is it to remain relevant in this competitive world? MGC: It is not easy for anyone to make a mark in today’s competitive world. Ironically, competition is vital. In-fact this is imperative. With increasing competition, the bar in terms of delivery of solutions and client service is continuously being raised. In the competitive environment in which we operate, it takes the fittest to succeed and when I say the fittest, I do not mean the biggest, rather I mean the ones who have the desire, the ambition, the passion, and the resolve to be able to continuously keep on taking to the market that others are not able to take in the same way. This aspect creates a differentiation. Often I have seen severe undercutting in terms of pricing to retain and win clients. It is my personal belief that no one wins a price war—not even the client. For this reason, to attain and retain our relevance, we have focused more on building relationships with complete transparency in our pricing with our clients, in a manner in which there are no hidden surprises and they are in full control of the commercials for engagements with us. Business Connect: Tell us something about yourteam. How do you ensure their efficiency and positivity towards work in challenging times? MGC: We are in the people’s business and our challenges are relatively unique. When I hear discussions and debates around B2B and B2C, I strike a relevance to the concept of H2H, which is most pertinent to our business. Anyone who joins our

[ 13 ]

organization, having followed a rigorous process in terms of selection, is not treated as an employee or a commodity, rather as an asset. I seek to optimize the efficiencies of each member of our team by identifying the real potential in every person who is a part of MGC & KNAV and working with the said person to realize this potential. Often I have had discussions with various people who have joined us, about what is it that they feel they should be doing. Whenever there have been variations between my assessment of an individual’s potential and what the person believes that he or she can do, I have worked with the person and let the person believe, that yes, he or she can get there. Not because that pedestal is higher than what the person may have identified for himself or herself, but because that is where the said person rightly belongs. Business Connect: What kind of activities do you conduct to keep your employees energized? MGC: Our success is directly proportional to the hard work and effort of each member of our team. We realize that individuals must work in a manner and in an environment in which they are energized and motivated to give their best. Consequently, we lose no opportunity to recognize efforts, celebrate occasions (including personal birthdays and client recognition) and ensure that efforts of our team members do not get unnoticed. Our people know, understand and appreciate that with collaboration and by working together, they can accomplish a lot more than if they were to operate in silos. We organize regular team gettogethers with a different theme on each occasion, engage our people on a common group chat, have monthly town halls, demonstrate our recognition of their efforts on various platforms on social media and have regular off-sites where each team member is encouraged to interact in a carefree and informal manner. While each of the platforms used by us to energize our

www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Special Edition April 2019 INDIA

people is different to the other, the common thread that binds these efforts is enhanced interaction by getting them to open up and discuss their thoughts and perspectives freely. We identify individuals with a positive attitude and assign specific tasks to promote team work to them and show everyone the bigger picture with their roles and contributions so that negativity does not creep in by sweating on the smaller stuff. Business Connect: Who do you look up to in the world of business? MGC: Jack Welch. I have the highest regard for his ability to think beyond the norm and usher in new thought-provoking, positive and impactful actions. He had made a speech in 1981 in New York City which dealt with “Growing fast in a slowgrowth economy, which imprinted upon me, the fact that one could eradicate inefficiencies by dismantling bureaucracies. His emphasis on succession planning and making people the core competency of GE along with being an early adopter of the Six Sigma -approach made Jack Welch one of the pioneers in shaping a culture which many organizations chose to successfully adopt. Business Connect: Are you planning to establish the company as a global brand? MGC: Yes.We have already expanded our presence to Europe, Middle East, Singapore, UK and the US and are exploring expansion for several other countries. At the same time, we will continue to actively pursue new and requisite intelligence and use the same to expand the length and breadth of our service offerings, stay well ahead of our competition in terms of the best in class tools and methodologies and continue to upgrade and enhance our infrastructure to facilitate efficiencies in our operations, which comprise of our delivery and enabling teams.

[ 14 ]

Business Connect: What are your contributions to CSR activities? MGC: MGC & KNAV is conscious of its responsibility toward society at large. Our corporate social responsibility revolves around being able to provide for the have-nots of society. In my capacity as a member of the prestigious Delhi Mid Town Rotary Club, I have had the privilege of serving as the co-chairperson of their committee overseeing CSR initiatives. We recently celebrated the third anniversary of MGC & KNAV with young students at an orphanage located at the heart of central Delhi and distributed stationery and books to each child. Business Connect: Please let us know about the achievements of the company. MGC: We have not only been able to attract and retain the best talent, across levels in the area of risk advisory services, but also clients, who are some of the best-known organizations in their respective domain. We have been recognized as amongst the ’10 most promising risk advisory services firms’ in 2017, ‘the Company of the Month’ in January of 2018 and the ‘Company of the Year’ in December 2018. Business Connect: What are your interests apart from work? MGC: I like to read. I think it’s important to be able to take some time off and get perspectives of what is in the mind of successful writers. I like to play chess, I think it’s a great de-stressor and it always helps you in many ways to anticipate moves and to find your way in a situation where you are continuously striving to be ahead of the curve. I love to travel and go for long walks, treks, and drives. I have a passion for cars. Finding time for these currently is very difficult and but maybe someday, I’ll be able to do more of these.

Business Connect: What are the milestones of the company? MGC: To start from scratch in September of 2015 and demonstrate the ability to compete with the largest global risk advisory services firms while edging them out on specific risk advisory mandates in terms of our technical expertise, build a highly motivated team of over a hundred risk advisory services professionals and develop a fast-growing base of happy clients, is an accomplishment that I cherish. Business Connect: What are your thoughts on women participation in the entrepreneurial world? MGC: A transformation has occurred with the increase in the number of women participating in the corporate workforce and this can only serve as a benefit to the industries. Gender diversity helps in providing different perspectives which count as an advantage. In my opinion, more and more women should be encouraged and supported to prosper in the world of opportunities. After all, there is no better example for a woman than another accomplished woman. Business Connect: What are your efforts to ensure the female workforce is at par with male counterparts? MGC: When hiring a candidate, be it a man or a woman, there are certain qualities that we look for. In this process, gender is merely a matter of fact and not a deciding ground. At MGC & KNAV, women are at par with their counterparts and support each other throughout. Business Connect: What are your short term and long term plans for the company? MGC: We have a clear vision for ourselves, which is for MGC & KNAV to be the best providers of risk advisory services wherever we work. While this may appear to be a simple vision, there is clarity of thought behind the same and the fact that we have been able to achieve this positioning in India is encouraging. In the short term and long term, we need to maintain that position. What we have seen, not just in the case of organizations, but also in the case of successful people, that once you reach the top, you take a lot for granted. I do not believe in taking anything for granted. There are enough people and there are enough organizations who are working hard to be able to get us off that pedestal. Hence, the first thing is to maintain this positioning and that is going to require probably more hard work than what we’ve done to be able to get there. From a long term perspective, we need to spread our wings across the globe (as we have been doing in Singapore, The Netherlands and USA) to attain and retain a positioning similar to the one we have in India.

“I would just say, dare to dream because those who dream are the ones who succeed. So, dream and dream big. I believe that it is imperative to live each moment to its fullest, for this moment is never going to return and the theory of initial push is extremely important. For us, it is essential to respect and capitalize on the opportunities available to us in the present.”

Simple steps to Create online business “Be your own leader, live your dreams. Create a life on your own terms.”

Business Connect Team

“To create something big, we need to make our efforts in the right direction with the utmost independence.” There are various business entrepreneurs who started their own small online ventures, in a short period of time, they became successful and created a large and influential impact. There are multiple write ups, online videos, and methodologies where people around the globe can have an access of starting the online businesses. As a writer, and with my overall experience, I want to share with all the readers over there, not all the people who aim to start the online businesses experience growth or get success in it. There is a requirement of adequate level of mindset, motivation, plan, people, and a service. With the increasing buzz of online markets, and use of different applications, youth with their own individuality; they opt the route of doing business online. Choreographers are giving dance classes, they are preparing the modules for the sessions, Teachers can have the free access of the medium, creating a hub of the interested students, and writers are publicizing their work and turning the poetries, short stories into the novels and selling them out over the online platform. There are numerous examples and data, which show the demand of online business in the market. I am transcribing this article for all those independent souls who want to be on the driver seat of their lives and require a guide, to help them for taking the initiative and be independent in their lives. There are many well-known and established organizations like Indian Business Magazine, Magazine for Entrepreneur, where their owners had chosen to opt for start-ups using the online as a platform. So, in simple words, I am sharing the methodologies and simple steps how a person can start the online venture and yield a maximum output. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Special Edition April 2019 INDIA

[ 16 ]

Find what you love

It’s quite important to figure out, what you are best at. You need to find the skill in which you show your best. It can be anything like dancing, sketching, writing, cooking, etc… You cannot sell what you don’t love. Finding the passion and putting your heart and soul into it, so that your work can flow and it can be admired by the people in the market. Globally, customers in a long run want to trust the quality of the product that you are selling. I am a writer if I myself don’t have a strong command over the language, creativity, and new ideas, then in the market nobody is going to purchase my novels, read my poetries, dramas, etc.

MN

Connect with the people

People are our customers, without them no marketing can ever take place. So, we need to connect with the people through various medium like face book, twitter, etc. and create the market for our product. The quintessential requirement at the initial stage is to sell the product at free of cost, because until or unless people will trust the quality, they are not going to purchase it. Seller needs to advertise the product and create the followers at different platforms. For e.g. a good writer needs to showcase her work on the social media, publicize her brand, like she needs to create the groups on face book, instagram, and be in touch with the people who excel in the respective fields.

pqbm

MO

Seek help or have a mentor

We are all connected with each other, as all the lifeforms in this universe are interdependent, so this is the same in online market. We require the like-minded people who can support, and help each other. For the starters, a mentor plays a vital role, so that with his experience he can guide them, keep him motivated and on track in the time of challenges.

Sell your product

The last step in the online business is to sell the product finally at reasonable prices in stating after that increases the value of the brand. For e.g. a writer can publish her novels at Amazon and then accordingly sell the product. Good marketing strategy online can yield an excellent results.

Consequently, online business give you the liberty to start the business and carry out it at free of cost at your own place, time and space. No boss or manager will interrupt you, extreme independence. [ 17 ]

Is Your Personal or Financial Data Secure? Business Connect Team

W

ith the modern digitalization revolutionizing today’s business world, it’s very important than ever to remain vigilant against hackers or crackers or hacking. According to the recent World Economic Forum report 2019, cyber-attacks and data breaches have become a regular occurrence and are the fourth and fifth most consequential risks facing the business world today. The recent cases of biggest data breaches of the 21st century in companies having vast user data like Yahoo, Marriot, Under Armour, The Facebook (Cambridge Analytica), Equifax, eBay, Dixons Carphone, Ticketfly, My Heritage, Google Plus to name a few, provides the evidence of weakness in the areas of cybersecurity and data protection. In India, the data breaches made in the Aadhaar database in 2018 potentially compromised the personal information of around 1.1 billion registered citizens. Altogether, for these reasons Ethical hacking or offensive security which is generally conducted in a structured and organized manner, is now being adopted by organizations despite size or industries to prevent their customer's privacy and trust. It was just a few years ago that the open discussion or dissemination of knowledge of hacking techniques was considered illegal. But, recently, with the globalization as the world is getting smaller, people have started understanding the vast importance of Ethical Hacking as it provides security services to the private data of corporate and government clients in the Nation’s most critical sectors like defense, law enforcement, intelligence, finance, and health care. Nowadays, because of the vast library of user data of large companies like Facebook, Banking and other Social media sites have been the prime targets for hacking.

www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Special Edition April 2019 INDIA

[ 22 ]

What is Ethical Hacking?

An ethical hacker is also known as a “white hat hacker” or simply “white hat” is a person who is hired and permitted by an organization to attack its system for the purpose of identification of susceptibilities, which an attacker might take advantage of. The term “black hat” is used for malicious hackers or crackers who utilize their skills for illegal purposes. The whole difference between the terms “hacking” and “ethical hacking” is the permission or the attacker’s motivation. Other terms used for ethical hacking are Penetration testing/ Pentesting/ PT. Penetration testing is the legal and licensed way to locate and successfully exploit computer systems for the purpose of making those systems safer.

Ethical Hacking: History

With the growing computer science industry, Internet computer security has risen as a major concern for business organizations and governments. Organizations use the Internet to their advantage by utilizing the Internet as a medium for e-commerce, e-learning, banking, mobile, advertising, information distribution, and access, embrace new technologies like cloud computing as well as other ventures. However, they remain worried about hacking which could lead to a loss of control of private and personal data regarding the organization, its employees, and its clients. Evaluation of security threats is important or ethical hackers use the same tools and techniques as an attacker and report the susceptibilities they found and provide the necessary instructions for how to remedy them. Dan Farmer from Elemental Security and Wietse Venema from IBM were the pioneers of ethical hacking programs. Farmer and Venema developed an easy-to-use application free for download called Security Analysis Tool for Auditing Networks, or SATAN, which received a great amount of media attention due to its capabilities and implications. The SATAN tool provides auditing and advising capabilities to provide computer security.

This has increased importance for candidates and companies to be trained and certified in Ethical Hacking. The Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) program is governed by the EC Council for authorizing professional hackers. Because of these genuine reasons, the importance of CEH has heightened in businesses world across industries globally.

When someone offers you an opportu nity you know nothing a bout, say yes and then fi nd ways to do it.

Richard Branson

A graduate of Texas A&M University, Raghunandan Jagdish is as comfortable with designing cutting edge solutions for customers as he is with a strategy for productivity enhancement. After joining the business at a young age of 23, he worked up the ranks from all the departments and is today commanding the respect of the employees, vendors and customers alike. Mr. Nandan, in a conversation with Business Connect Magazine enlightens us about his journey and how does it feel to serve the primary entities like ground handlers, flight kitchens, airlines, DRDOs, Army, Air Force, Navy, and a number of PSUs like L&T, and finally anybody who would require their services in terms of hydraulic goods lift, scissor lifts, customized vehicles, etc. Business Connect: How do you keep up with the changing trends of the market? Mr. Nandan: Today we live in the age of disruptions and they are happening at a much faster pace than it was happening earlier. Earlier people used to follow a business model that would live for a bare minimum of 30-40 years, but now, changes take place in as early as 4-5 years. So as a business we are there to remain nimble, whatever trends were there earlier have changed, everything is automated now. So we try to predict what disruptions are going to happen in the market and try to stay ahead of the curve.

F

or almost three decades they have been successfully designing and manufacturing airport equipment, ground support equipment, Defence, car parking and material handling systems. These are all hydraulic lifting systems that are custom designed with a mission to improve the customer’s productivity, performance, and safety. They have create many first in india solutions like theme park rides, bridge inspection units, scissor lifts of 40 ton capacity, high scissor lifts upto 17 m high, missile lifts, bullet proof trucks, etc.

Business Connect: Have you infused technology smoothly into your business? Mr. Nandan: Yes, we have, we are always on a lookout to see what’s happening on a breakthrough level, and not just in India but globally. So that we take pointers from the same because there are a few things that are very centric to India but may be different globally, so for their peculiar problems we always come up with a solution. We have full fledged cloud based ERP wnr CRM as well as our equipment are maintained using a state of the art CMMS (computerized maintenance management system). We are now working on the IOT and Digital 4.0 technologies. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Special Edition April 2019 INDIA

Business Connect: What do you think about the competition in your field? Mr. Nandan: Competition is always good if it is ethically right. Those days are gone when you were a monopoly, I don’t believe there are any more businesses that can flaunt a monopoly. Maximum there will be two big fishes in the pond at least, besides the government would not be in favor of mergers either because then that would be against the competitive principals of the business. Competition can always compete on price but they can never compete on quality because the price is what you pay and value is what you get. And once the customers go out there and explore, they understand the value of our brand better. We always feel that the sweetness of low price lasts much lesser than the bitterness of bad quality. A lot of clients come back to us when they have “experienced” the difference. And it challenges us to come out with more features, better quality, and sophisticated product and services. Business Connect: With zero monopolies in the market, why would the client choose you over others? Mr. Nandan: The foremost thing is the selection of products and services we offer is unmatched. And surely for a few products, we do have competitors in the market but there is no one in the market that will offer you everything that we do, which is something that we know for a fact. We have a very collaborative consulting approach that we consider for selling, we don’t do it conventionally. We believe in giving value to the customer, besides if at any point we feel that we are not apt for the job, we do not hesitate in referring them to someone who can do the job better with better value. Also, I believe a lot in word of mouth, referrals, and testimonials. We deliver elegant solutions to custom problems. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Special Edition April 2019 INDIA

Business Connect: How did it all start for you? Mr. Nandan: We began as a one-man show from my father, Mr JC Kumar in 1991. He bagan without any “Godfathers or Capital” and worked up the brand of Nandan based on his hard work. I left to pursue my post graduation in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University in the USA in 2001. By then we were about 20 people in the organization. But primarily it was him who did EVERYTHING. In 2003, After I came back to India, I set up processes, hired a team, expanded the factory locations. We have ensured there is constant learning, growth, and training of our members and hence the attrition rate is very low for us. Also our leaders have been organically growing up the ranks. A young intern who joined us back then is today my plant head. Also we have a retired Colonel from the Indian Army who heads our Defence vertical. We have a right mix of experience and young blood. Generally I hire for attitude and train for skill. Business Connect: How much do you rely on R&D for the growth of your business? Mr. Nandan: R&D in the conventional sense where you have lab coats guys is not something that happens at our end but learning about technology and understanding what is happening in the market, what all is going to be introduce is constant. We are already working on certain levels of technology to comprehend that would work or not. So a lot of trial and error sessions are happening, not purely for the purpose of R&D but because I foresee the trends and believe this would work in the coming future. Within the design team 10% of activities are geared towards R&D.

[ 26 ]

Business Connect: Started by your father, do you remember the kind of struggles he faced? Mr. Nandan: Of course, I do. My father was an accidental entrepreneur. The company he was working for 18 years shut down abruptly in 1988. While he had many offers, he decided to do something of his own and he took a small place on rent in Mumbai and that’s where he began his journey. With no investors, or godfathers, I can say he is truly a “self-made man”. He has had his share of struggles in terms of paying interests, arranging capital, payments etc. This helps me also remain rooted hence i have vivid memories of the stress he went through. This also is a reason why I go out of my way today to mentor young entrepreneurs and also share my learning in the community. Business Connect: What does the future hold for the company? Mr. Nandan: We are looking forward to good growth in the coming years. Because of the government spending, then the ‘Make in India’ approach from the Defence, there is a lot of interest that we have been able to generate worldwide. Also, India is growing, so we are in a good place right now, there is a lot of stability and growth in the market right now. We are also working on areas of Car parking, Logistics, electric vehicles etc which are all mass market problems we intend to solve. Our mantra has been to improve our customers productivity, performance and safety. Business Connect: How are you giving back to society (CSR activities)? Mr. Nandan: There is one thing that are very close to us - education. We believe it is fundamentally everyone’s right, but unfortunately, that does not happen. So we

support a lot of children from the backward community for education, we provide them with books, etc. We also are associated with a lot of NGOs and trusts to ensure that the resources are reaching the right place for food and old age and orphanages and schools. Business Connect: What kind of changes do you feel have come for entrepreneurs today from where you started? Mr. Nandan: Yes, the ecosystem today is much more open and technology has played a boon in all this. Because I remember earlier how difficult the smallest of things like getting a loan or registering your property was, but now the generation has it very easy. But the sad part is that a lot of these startups aren’t exposed to failures, they’ll eventually burn out if the maturity is not there. Hence mentorship is important for them. Apart from work Mr. Nandan is a nature enthusiast, he likes to cycle his way to fitness and attend seminars and workshops. He reads extensively (he says this year he targets to read 50 books and maybe even publish one). He believes that as an entrepreneur the journey is very lonely, so whatever time he gets, he prefers to spend it with his family and a few close friends.

“With the same mindset, we cannot go into global thought. First what needs to change is the mindset and belief system that we can do. Being core to the mission is important so that we can embrace opportunities. There is lots of scope, but we need to look up into the horizon for it as well as near our footstep. Looking at either place all the time will not help. Let’s Make in India and deliver worldwide”.

SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time bound. So, let’s dig deep in each point, so to understAnd more, so that we all can achieve our goals successfully.

Attainable

Specific Firstly, we need to be very much clear about our goals; it means our target should be clear: don’t try to sail in two boats at the same time. So, the best way to decide what is your goal, sit quietly and pour your heart out on the paper, i.e. write down whatever is there in your mind, and let your thoughts come on the piece of paper. Write all your goals on the piece of paper and be specific about them. For e.g. if you want to be a dancer, write what type of dancer you want to be like classical, contemporary, jazz, in which dance form you are extraordinary.

Realistic Set real goals, so that you can achieve them. Goals cannot be set on imagination. For example, you have never tapped your feet on the dance floor, but you are setting the goal of becoming renowned dancer one day.

Measurable Then set measurable goals and dates to achieve them. The goals should have the time limit, for example, in 4 months you are going to learn the basics of contemporary dance. In next, 4 months, you will move to the elementary level, then in a year or two, advanced level; you are going to attain.

Right attitude, systematic approach, discipline in dayto-day life are the significant factors which nourish our goals and grow them into the plants of fruitful success. Most importantly, we need to avoid distractions also which are curbing us to attain our goal. We need to be well focused and planned.

Do not complain for not accomplishing the goals, if you stress yourself by planning or setting the goals which are totally out of your reach. Always plan the goals in accordance to your potential. For example: by learning the dance for one year, your goal is to win the trophy of Dance India Dance, then absolutely it makes no sense.

Time-bound Set the time limit to your goals, in how many years you are going to fulfill them. Let’s say in ten years you are ready to explore your talent and try to participate in national and international dance shows, obviously starting from the school and college level. Take it easy; don’t be anxious if you are not able to attain them. Patience, hard work, and dedication are the keys to unlock the lock of success.

The above described SMART goal setting is the fundamental aspect in achieving the goal. Simply saying, I want this dream of mine gets true, whereas designing the strategy; to make it happen will take you miles away.

TMTC

A Growth Catalyst for SME’s

MANOJ TANDON CEO

Carrying a pure belief of being aggressively involved with the clients, The Manoj Tandon & Company (TMTC) is a boutique consulting business house that not just skyrockets reports and studies, it makes things happen. At TMTC, it is believed that every problem is unique, and therefore the approach to solving it is tailored to that problem. Their approach can range from running the teams to training the employees to individual coaching and personal advice. Manoj Tandon, CEO and Name Partner, The Manoj Tandon and Company, in conversation with Business Connect Business Connect: Please walk us through your company profile and services Mr. Tandon: We do growth consulting for SME’s in India and other countries. Let me explain the “growth” word a bit more, generally, people link growth with brokering deals. We don’t do that because we believe that if we only do brokering and go away, the company and its www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Special Edition April 2019 INDIA

leaders would not have learned how to sustain and grow a company. We instead enable them to learn how to grow themselves. Our consulting goes from soup to nuts, we empower them to do business planning, Sales and Marketing planning, Financial Management, how to manage delivery, Human Resource Management, supply chain etc. We then work with them hand-in-hand to help them execute on the strategies. We believe in only results. If our clients don’t achieve results then we have failed. That is our motto. Over a period of time, we have worked in India, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. Business Connect: How do you feel you are different from your competitors? Mr. Tandon: The fundamental difference is that we don’t want our clients to need us after 2 years. They should become good enough so that they manage things themselves. In other words, our endeavor is to enable their business not ours.

[ 30 ]

Business Connect: Did you see any transformation happening for startups, over the years? Mr. Tandon: Innovation is the new mantra, companies who just believe in same old things are not able to deliver performance. Business Connect: Did everything come easy, or you have your story of struggle? Mr. Tandon: We struggled a bit in the beginning when we were new in the field (2013), the fundamental struggle was to understand an Indian Entrepreneurs mindset and thus what will work for them. Sometimes, we have struggled to change their thinking style so that they learn the ropes. Business Connect: What kind of clients do you serve? Mr. Tandon: Quite a few of our clients are IT start-ups or SME’s or are using IT to transform the landscape in their respective domains. Business Connect: How do you ensure unbreakable faith of the clients in your company? Mr. Tandon: We don’t want to just make money for ourselves. There have been times we have not even charged our clients for doing things beyond the scope of our work or when we feel that our help has not achieved the desired results due to some weakness from our end. We see clients as our business partner and not as a customer. Business Connect: How do you keep pace with the changing market trends? Mr. Tandon: By staying abreast of what is happening in the market. That is the only way. Business Connect: Do you believe R&D is essential for the growth of the company? Mr. Tandon: Absolutely. Typically, R&D word is associated with a fancy lab, expensive equipment, and Ph.D. employees. Hence everyone thinks that it is not for SME’s who are strapped for resources. We believe, R&D’s core is innovation. Innovation in thinking, Innovation is execution and Innovation is culture. This does not cost any money. But it is the key differentiator in a successful or failed start-up. Business Connect: Do you still come back to work with the same zeal, like you did when you started? Mr. Tandon: There is nothing as exciting as seeing the smile on a young Entrepreneurs face when he/she achieves success. That brings the Zeal in us. Business Connect: In terms of Information Technology and consulting, what do you feel the future holds for entrepreneurs? Mr. Tandon: The field is full of noise, activity hence to find the gem is a challenge. If you are a technology geek or can think beyond the obvious, only then go for it. The question to be answered is, can you genuinely change the game, not just make an incremental difference. If you can then go for it. Business Connect: How necessary do you feel is it to keep your employees content, how do you ensure it?

Mr. Tandon: We are a knowledge-based company, availability, access & time to learn and experiment is the only way we can keep our people content. Rest all, beyond a point, become hygiene factors. Business Connect: Who do feel has added the most in you as a person? Mr. Tandon: No one person. Everyone brings something to the table. Business Connect: How are you giving back to society? Mr. Tandon: We do a lot of pro-bono work. Business Connect: Apart from work, what else catches your interest? Mr. Tandon: Reading, There are business books and then there are business books. It is tough to choose one or even a few. I only recommend that whenever you read a business book, don’t blindly accept things mentioned there because each book is written with a certain context in mind, is generally tailored towards a type of business and by an author who belongs to geography (and that impacts his approach towards the business book). Read it, understand it, filter it to your own context, business, geography, market conditions and then internalize it. Business Connect: How do you see the initiatives of the present government with respect to your industry? Have they helped you in any sense? Mr. Tandon: Not helped me but the SME’s for sure. Business Connect: What are the achievements and milestones of the company? Mr. Tandon: We don’t consider our success as milestones. Our milestones are based on when our clients achieve a milestone for example: • One of our clients moved from a small sized company to medium sized organization • One start-up of ours raised its first round of funding and is now in the process of raising a second round of funding shortly We consider events like the above as our milestones and we are proud of them. Business Connect: What are your thoughts on women participation in the entrepreneurial world? Mr. Tandon: We or anyone should not look at women any differently from men. They are as good, as competent and as deserving as men are. I believe in them as agents of change and becoming great Entrepreneurs. Business Connect: What does the future hold for your company in terms of short and long term plans? Mr. Tandon: We have only one plan, to make our clients successful, help them achieve their dreams, and enable them to keep them going even after we are not with them. TMTC works as the catalyst of growth for your organization. They believe, growth is not just about increasing sales but for successful and sustainable growth to happen, it needs more than just sales, it also needs delivery, HR & process driven execution to go hand in hand. Their experience and expertise in building and running mid-sized organizations is useful for the client.

a team we are very persistent & we don’t give up easily, and we are known for our higher-than-average risk appetite.

it becomes slightly comfortable and easy. Ultimately, it’s imperative to stay nimble, not let the scale of the change overwhelm you.

Business Connect: Do you see any transformation happening in the entrepreneurial world? Sheetal: Oh yes! Plenty! I see entrepreneurs being more responsible now, think being reckless was something that was seen as a positive attribute in this highly competitive start-up ecosystem however that is changing, more & more entrepreneurs looking at collaboration as the way to sustain businesses.

Business Connect: Mention a couple of your favorite books/novels that have taught you the intricacies of business? Sheetal: One of the books that I love to re-read is ‘Shoe Dog’ by Phil Knight, it’s a blueprint of motivation & the best part is it’s highly entertaining with never a dull moment. Another is ‘Never Split the Difference’ by Chriss Voss, The first by this author, its action packed with several actionable bits of advice. There are many other favs, I also like to read light and sometime you will find me with a James Headly Chase or David Baldacci purely for the pace & entertainment.

Business Connect: Did you face any obstacle during the initial days? How did you sail through them? Sheetal: The first big obstacle for us was to get the language experts to take up assignments in Asia as Translation & Localization Industry is quite fragmented & unorganized here. The second was to get the customers to an Indian company as mostly these large MNC’s were outsourcing the services to US & Europe for lack of professionally managed LSP’s in India. We were luckily able to get the attention of Language experts, our part-time engagement model is also very successful & has helped us get visibility amongst those who are looking for such assignments. Business Connect: What was your learning during struggling days? Sheetal: Nothing will ever be attempted if all possible objections must first be overcome! This was my biggest learning during the struggling days, there are ifs & buts, don’t wait to get an answer for every question that you may have, you will figure out a lot of things as you move along in this entrepreneurial journey. Business Connect: How do you ensure the unbreakable faith of clients in your company? Sheetal: As a company we ensure the relevant stakeholders are involved from stage zero for a clearer understanding of deliverables, a comprehensive Scope of Work is a mandate for every project we undertake, and there is complete transparency in the pricing & deliverables. Business Connect: Please let us know about the achievements of the company. Sheetal: In a short span of two years, we have won several accolades and confidence of very large Multi-National Giants and have been named the Company of the Year and the Most Admired Language Service Provider by two leading magazines. Business Connect: How difficult is it to remain relevant in this competitive world? Sheetal: Yes, it is difficult to remain relevant in today’s competitive world however, I think that if you surround yourself with people that invite change & are flexible, and

SIGNS YOU ARE A BAD MANAGER Business Connect Team

In an organization, the employee’s stability and growth are dependent on the attitude and behavior of a boss. If the manager is good and positive, the employees will also show the reciprocation. If the boss shows negative or cruel attitude, then the employees will suffer.

“A bad manager can be the biggest threat to the mental level of an employee.”

According to the international survey, there are multiple companies, where an employee’s productivity rate is falling at a rapid pace. “Do thou want to know, why?” The answer to this question, we, as a team of one of the growing organizations in India, BUSINESS CONNECT, wants to share with all the managers, some of the most important signs of a bad manager. If you think that the profits or productivity of your company is constantly declining, and you as a manger are in an extreme dilemma, that why is so? May be there is a flaw in the leadership style, you are projecting on them, if this is the case, then as a manager, it’s a high time to look inside rather than outside, and consider this article as your guide for the scope of improvement. I have worked with many organizations under different managers, so with sound experience, I do have a great idea about the characteristics of a good and bad manager. According to my viewpoint, www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Special Edition April 2019 INDIA

[ 34 ]

“Leaders, who cannot inspire, motivate, and boost the morale of his team members are, surely not fall in to the category of good managers.” Find out for thyself, whether you fall into the following signs of a bad manager, if yes, then take the measures and work on yourself. Following are the points, which present a descriptive module for the signs of a bad manager.

You are indecisive

If you lack the quick decisive quality, then surely it’s not a

good quality. You just worry a lot, keeping a lot of apprehensions in mind, you just lost the ability of quickly act. For example, you can take decision, but you wait for the above authority to approve that, therefore, not believing in yourself.

You do not create the boundaries

There should be visible boundaries between the managers and employees. If you are the best friend of one of your employees, but your friendship is coming into the work as the employee is experiencing the dual side of nature. He does not expect you to find out the flaws in his work, by which his work quality is also going down, so it’s quite important to create the healthy boundaries.

You play the game of favoritism

It means you do not treat all the employees equally. You favor the people in accordance of your likes/ dislikes. The people who do buttering or have a good bonding with you, they get the benefit but on the other hand, people who work hard are not noticed by you, and their efforts are in vain.

[ 35 ]

www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Special Edition April 2019 INDIA

You do not interact with the employees one-on-one

You don’t share the cordial bond with the employees; it means the challenges/problems your people are facing, you are totally unaware of it. Consequently, there is a veil between your employees and you. It means their boss does not have time to listen to them.

You lack empathy

If you don’t think what your employees are going through, it is the biggest proof that you are a bad manager. For example: If one of the employees is constantly burning himself with the lot of work stress, but you are not trying to understand his situation, and continually you are stressing him with workload, then you are the worst manager.

You over impose the rules of organization

If you don’t provide the flexibility to your team workers, and continuously try to bound them with unreasonable rules of your company which actually steals from them freedom of creativity, then surely they are going to leave you.

You are not trustworthy

It means, you are do not owe the trust of your employees. In the time of crisis, your people know you are going to leave them, cannot stand with them.

So, these were some of the traits of a bad manager. If you fall into this category or your manager falls into it, this may provide you a clear understanding. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Special Edition April 2019 INDIA

Dispersion of Education Through the Vision of a Triumphant Millennial “Learn from your mistakes, the only person who knows what is best for you is only you. The entire purpose of education is not to restrict itself to imparting bookish knowledge only but inculcate humanitarian values too” Naina Jain. Yashasvi Khushu | Business Connect The literacy rate around the world does not hold a very remarkable number and education, as we recognize today, stands to be a remote right for millions of children. And in the subtleties so unfortunate globally in terms of education, it is of paramount significance that there are endeavors coming up to fetch a revolution in the segment of education. And one such boon in the multifaceted education system of the current era is Naina Jain, Additional Secretary, MD International School, Bijnor, who’s aggressively affianced in the dispersion of enhancing knowledge. Meet the Millennial Visionary! While there are innumerable noble minds in an educational institute, but among them are some that turn out to be the change-makers of the society. Naina Jain has been one such personality of this institute. Born on August 28, 1994, she completed her graduation (B Sc. Hons) from IILM (University of Bradford) and a diploma in interior designing from Pearl Academy, New Delhi and joined M.D. International School as an Additional Secretary in 2018 at a very young age of 24 years.

NAINA JAIN

Additional Secretary, MD International School

“My inspiration during this journey and throughout my life is my father- Mr. Navneet Jain. He is a man of principles and always motivates me to go ahead in my life. It is because of his hard work and dedication that the school has achieved so much in such a short span of time,” further recalls Naina. Talking about her early days at the institute, she adds that, her challenges weren’t any different from the rest. Supervising a school and getting together departments to accomplish the mission is always an enormous challenge for school management but transforming the school with additions of high technology-enabled automation tools to support the academic and administrative processes made it easier to achieve the goals. Initially, taking up such a big responsibility under the guidance and support of her father Navneet Jain, she efficaciously learned and ensure the roles and responsibilities associated with enhanced learning results. The Ideologies on Ground Zero! MD International School, regarded as a center of educational excellence, their sole aim has been to provide a comprehensive education for holistic development of individual personality with a human touch and visionary outlook. A critical role of education also is dependent on molding the individuality of a child into a sturdy personality and a jovial soul, who isn’t just operational with 21st-century attitudes and robotically is inclined towards scholarly magnificence. It also is essential to teach one how to face the difficulties of life in a fair and amicable way. In this way, the arrangement of training should fill in as an impetus in making every child a reasonable individual. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Special Edition April 2019 INDIA

A school as an institution essentially turns into a preaching ground for the little one, they tend to gain knowledge according to their understanding. A lot starts to depend on the manner of exposure or education school’s imparts into one. And MD International has been doing an impeccable job, they are in the process of making the next generation the bright future of the country and raise bars of their institute. Education in the Present Scenario! Naina currently believes in focusing on shaping up the existing system in the changing scenario of globalization with attempts to resolve the issue of getting trained manpower in the field of higher education for sustainable growth and development of the nation. She feels that autonomy has been found to improve learning outcomes in both public and private schools with most highachieving education systems allowing schools to make their own decisions about teacher hiring practices, curriculum development or resource allocation. Over the past decade, there have been a number of changes in the education space that have revamped the landscape of the industry. Institutions are making lots of efforts to customize the students’ experiences and are changing their processes to become more student-centric. Most parents want children to have the best possible global education with greater exposure, something that they may not have been able to get themselves. “One of the biggest changes in the recent past has been the increase in the number of parents looking beyond the goal of ‘getting a reputed job’ for their children. Parents now see more value in the building life skills that would be useful in the ‘real world’, and allowing them to follow their own passions and entrepreneurial ideas rather than goals set by their family” states Naina. From her perspective education is a necessity and not a luxury, it is about using education for personal advantages and to utilize the knowledge for our growth. Also one can lead their own life without depending on others. As far as education in terms of schools or colleges is concerned, education is a luxury for most people at least here in India and it is a measure of the wealth of modern society that we propose to educate everyone. Facilities in MD School: • Excellent Infrastructure and Clean green campus. • Modern security and safety ( through CCTV cameras and restricted entry and armed security personals) • High standard of hygiene and health facilities • Potable RO filtered drinking water. • Wi-Fi enabled 4 Mbps internet access campus • Use of ICT in the teaching-learning process, having smart boards. • Specialized dance, art & craft rooms. • Language lab to remove pronunciation related problems. • Well equipped labs (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer, Geography, Math,

• • • • • • • • • •

Home science Language Lab). Auditorium with 250 seating capacity. Well-furnished Indoor Gymnasium. Badminton Academy with wooden flooring. A large multipurpose ground for skating, volleyball, football, cricket, Yoga, and aerobics. Electromagnetic Shooting Range with modern equipment. Cafeteria and eatery for providing healthy food items. Counseling room Residential facility for outsider faculties. 100% power and water back up. Health and wellness center to take care of minor health issues and medical guidance.

What’s On Cards in the Future? The school is journeying towards providing value-based education with new innovations and ideas so that the children grow into aesthetically aware and integrated young people, capable of fulfilling their dreams and aspirations. They want to encourage mutualism, develop a global vision, enhance value based education and capacity to take decisions in difficult times. They assure a rewarding future, modern Gurukul life, Secularism, impartial judgment and an ideal blend of tradition and modernity. Also, build relationships within the community so they have outside resources to supplement their internal support system and have school policies that are firm, fair and consistent so teachers and staff can enforce them. The motivated young millennial, Naina Jain comes with a picture of transforming education for the greater good of the following generations. Recognized on multiple platforms like “Most Promising Young Woman Award -2018” for excellence in woman entrepreneur category by GLOBAL LEADER FOUNDATION, New Delhi, “Best Young Director of the Year Award (Below 40 Years)” in “Global Education and Corporate Leadership Awards (GECL-2018)”, Meerut and “ SEAS Global Women’s Achiever Awards 2018” has not let all the accreditations get to her head. She always wished to indicate not only academic excellence but positive attitude and values like honesty, compassion, knowledge, and leadership among the students and has successfully achieved it so far by flying colors and we look forward to seeing more of her future endeavors. “Life goes on, do not focus on being right or smart. Build your entire identity around being a learner and focus on what makes you happy” Naina Jain.

BCM Review

Beliefs That Marketers Should Rethink Business Connect Team

A

good marketer should always think about how to serve the best to his or her customers in accord to the best of potential. The priority of the marketer is to increase the number of customers. Intelligent marketers always update themselves with the changes that happen constantly in the purchasing habits of the consumers. Why are the habits changing? What should be the new marketing strategy? How the organization should invest to design a new module for it? Marketers should have the strategy to attract large number of customers to build the market. May be your product is very good but if you are unable to find out the correct number of consumers for that, then the product is in vain. Everybody in the market comes to earn profits, if the organization is not achieving them; it means the company is heading towards the market loss. Therefore, the main focus should be on increasing the clients with the purpose being served and increases the monetization value of it. Business connect one of the established business magazine around the country has opted some of the fantabulous marketing strategies which actually created an influence around the globe. In fact other entrepreneurs try to adapt the strategies that Business Connect has built for selling their products or services in bulk. Nobody will invest in the product which does not have the apt marketing strategy, so this is the requirement. The company should also put the extra efforts in ensuring the quality and appropriate cost price for the products. Today’s customer is very much aware, so they cannot be deceived so easily. Due to the availability of internet, they check everything viz. price, discount, responses of other customers, durability, warranty, etc. Henceforth, business people should look into the detail aspects of everything and create a specific plan to increase the value of the product. There are three things which the organization should look into and are as follows:

www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Special Edition April 2019 INDIA

[ 42 ]

BRAND

That is a myth nowadays that a brand will decide the number of customers. Today the customers are comparatively smarter and more aware than the people without internet. An aware customer will surely not run after the brand, I mean, she will see all the features, quality, and the cost price of the product, and then decide whether she wants to purchase or not. For example: if there is a mobile phone of Samsung of 20K with outstanding camera features, battery life, so on and so forth where the same mobile phone of OPPO I am getting in 16000Rs so, I will definitely go for OPPO, irrespective of the hype of brand of SAMSUNG.

LOYALTY

Loyalty plays a great role in deciding the consumers in the B-world but this also becomes the matter of olden times. This is not true that if a consumer who has the nice experience in purchasing something good from the buyer will return to him or her the next time also. This is not true now a days, consumer will speculate each and every aspect which I mentioned above before purchasing. The second time when he or she purchases will opt for other buyer may be the product from other buyers satisfies his or her demands. So, loyalty holds not much importance in today’s market.

POSITIONING

Positioning is also becoming less significant now a days. If the seller advertises one feature of the product, for example: Hero Honda bike company advertises that it’s the best bike for the ‘Mileage’, definitely intelligent buyer or you and me are not going to purchase it only for the mileage. The smart buyers of today will not get influenced only by the advertisements on television. We will see the other aspects of the products also. This is true because we will read the reviews on internet and then decide what we are going to buy or not. Hence, these are the three beliefs that the marketers should rethink and try not to focus on them. I think that they should consider more on quality of the products and see other competitive features of the products.

Rentprop4U

A Digitally Motivated Home Rental Solution for All Your Property Management Snags Yashasvi Khushu | Business Connect

If ever you have tried renting a property, you would utterly know the hassles involved in it. Discovering just the right mix of an ideal location and appropriate facilities is a task. With all the stereotypes and prejudices attached to it, it’s not very rare for the tenants and the owners to at some point or the other compromise on a certain few things from their checklist. And hence, the Bengaluru-based realty start-up, Rentprop4U offers a solution to all the overshooting budget issues, haggling with brokers, less than satisfactory deals and a lot more to ensure there are no compromises made. They offer property management and rental solutions to owners and tenants. Backed by its cutting-edge technology platform and data-driven analytics, the company aims to take the worry out of owning and renting a home. Established in 2016, they have 600 plus registered properties and more than 1000 users. The company has an end-to-end online rental solution for tenants to find suitable properties at zero brokerage with minimal paperwork, while owners can make use of Rentprop4U’s services to manage their properties and maximize their rental income. Business Connect: You have a highly fluctuating market; how do you adapt yourself to the changes? Mr. Nagaraju: We stay up to date on the market trends and retrospect on how we can make further improvements through the use of technology and digitizing all our processes, which helps us stay ahead of the game. Business Connect: Yours is a ‘digital home rental solution’, do you believe technology is a ‘boon or bane’ for you, looking at the awareness in regard to it? Mr. Nagaraju: It’s indeed a big boon for our segment because it has enhanced our business and enables to synchronize the entire rental management process. The technology has been instrumental in sustaining our type of business models in the market. The industry is desperately expecting some sort of technological enhancements to streamline the entire process, which would bring transparency and clarity within the systems. I’m looking forward to yet another technological revolution in the industry much like AI chatbots, SAP, etc. Business Connect: What do you feel is the scenario of real estate in India today? Mr. Nagaraju: Regulatory reforms such as RERA & GST have brought about transparency in the industry and buyers are more confident to invest in properties than ever before, thus we witness a decline in unsold inventory and an increase in the launch of new projects. This has largely contributed to a growth in the real estate sector, expected to reach $1trillion by 2030 and contribute 13% to the GDP by 2025. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Special Edition April 2019 INDIA

[ 46 ]

Business Connect: How do you ensure that your clients have faith in your brand? Mr. Nagaraju: Rentprop4U is a brand built on trust and the commitment we hold, towards providing quality services to our clients. We consider our clients to be the biggest stakeholders and thus we ensure that our services are satisfactory and meet customer demands. We give primary focus on customer queries and remain consistent with our responses which helps us gain trust among our clients. Having built this trust among our clients, they gladly offer to refer us within their circles.

to see the status and drop queries. In the same way, tenants can also look up properties on our website and interact with our support team through chatbots.

Business Connect: Do you rely upon R&D for the growth of your company? Mr. Nagaraju: As a startup company, we consistently perform a SWOT analysis which helps us determine where we stand in the market and what improvements need to be implemented in the future.

Business Connect: What does the future hold for the company? Mr. Nagaraju: The Company is looking to expand to major cities across India, our immediate focus is on Chennai and Hyderabad markets. We see great potential for growth in these cities as more projects are being launched year on year. The market is looking favorable in response to the reforms implemented by the government, this, in turn, may boost the growth of the company in the coming years. We are targeting 2000 properties within the next 2 years.

Business Connect: What kind of obstacles came in the way, while the company was in its initial phase? Mr. Nagaraju: The industry was always broker driven and owners were hardly exposed to the idea of a mediator managing their property under a legal contract and online property management concept is fairly new and it takes time for owners to get adapted. Therefore, owners were not confident enough to hand over their property to the company with concerns towards the security assurance of property and rent assurance. It’s a challenge to convince talented employees to join start-ups because of the general perception that prevails among them, about the sustainability of the start-ups. Business Connect: What kind of business model do you follow to keep up with the competition? Mr. Nagaraju: We help them find the home of their choice at zero brokerage. As for owners, we charge them a month’s rent as a service fee for managing their property for the entire 11 months. That’s our revenue stream. We act as a bridge between the owner and the tenant. We help the owner find the right tenant and vice versa. Business Connect: Highlight a few achievements and milestones of the company Mr. Nagaraju: Our greatest achievement so far is considered to be the trust we have gained from our clients. As an outcome of this, 80% of them have remained with us for the past 3 years and are happy to refer us to others as well. Since the inception of our company, we have grown tremendously and handled more than 500 properties in Bangalore, which is considered the biggest market in India since there is constant fluctuation in the realty sector. Business Connect: What kind of modus operandi does your company serve? Mr. Nagaraju: We have revolutionized the rental management by switching from offline to the online process, where the owners can upload their properties and be able

Business Connect: How much credit do you give your staff for your growth? Mr. Nagaraju: We credit our success over the course of 3 years to our staff who have dedicated themselves to working to resolve any issues. We wouldn’t be able to do it if it weren’t it for their constant support and dedication

Business Connect: Apart from work what else does interest you? Mr. Nagaraju: I enjoy cooking for my family and friends and exploring new places. It opens up more possibilities in life and I find that to be thrilling. I’m also a firm believer in taking time off to focus on oneself, this helps me improve on the quality of my work and make better decisions. I also like playing sports and find myself to be highly competitive. Business Connect: Was the idea of starting this venture always on cards or it happened in a spurt of a moment for you? Mr. Nagaraju: The idea was born from a problem that many of my young migrant friends were facing when they had to rent a property in Bengaluru. The security deposits seemed exorbitant for young professionals who had just started their careers. The language was a major barrier when dealing with local brokers, and lack of documentation on the part of owners added to their woes. It occurred to me that an online solution without the interference of the owner or the broker could solve these problems to a large extent. And as such, with the support of my cousins Ravi and Asha, we co-founded the Rentprop4U, which offers complete end to end property management and rental solutions to owners and tenants. Mr. Nagaraju added that on the core he feels that as far as the youth of India is concerned, entrepreneurship has gained popularity over the period of time and more millennials have begun to follow their own passion of setting up startup companies. He advised all the young minds that, although the idea of owning a startup may sound intriguing, it is also essential to do market research based on your field of interest and ask for suggestions in order to maximize your potential.

Revealing Green Tea’s Anti-Cancer Health Benefits Business Connect Team

T

ea is essential to social life to discuss business, philosophy, poetry, and politics in the modern world. Tea or “Chai” is the most popular hot beverage consumed by two-thirds of the world’s population. Green tea has been found to be phenomenal in terms of health benefits. It helps you remain active, refreshes your body and mind, is sugar-free, have no calories and is full of anti-oxidants. The incidence and prevalence of cancer have been lower in Asian countries than in Western countries. One potential reason for this would be the use of Green tea in the daily diet. Active Ingredients Present in Green Tea Tea plant Camellia sinensis sinensis has been cultivated for thousands of years and its leaves have been used for medicinal purposes. Green tea contains nutraceuticals or bioactive compounds called catechins. EGCG, (−)-Epigallocatechin-3-gallate is the main type of catechin (or Flavonoid) abundantly present (50-75%) in Green tea. It is the most effective anti-cancer polyphenol present in Green Tea. Compared to other sources of caffeine (like Coffee), the presence of L-theanine, an amino acid that produces a relaxing effect, makes Green tea unique. Although the amount of caffeine present in Green tea is more, the rate of absorption into the body is much slower than the caffeine present in coffee. Green Tea exhibits anti-inflammatory, antiobesity, antidiabetes, and antitumor activities. In the most recent study, published last month in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry, found that Green tea extracts prevent obesity by gut dysbiosis (microbial imbalance in the gastrointestinal system) and limiting endotoxin transformation. Earlier reports have confirmed its effectiveness in reducing blood pressure levels and reducing the risk of lung cancer and Type-2 diabetes. Green Tea may offer other health benefits like the decreased risk of stroke, gum disease (Gingivitis, inflammation of the

gum and Periodontitis, inflammation affecting the bone and tissues of the teeth) and lower risk of arthritis. Intake of Green tea (5 times or more per day) would show health benefits in people and may lower the risk of several chronic diseases. Two cups of Green tea help in preventing hangovers (after drinking excessive alcohol) by maintaining proper hydration of the body.

Advantages of Green Tea

The health benefits of Green tea intake are: • It lowers the risk of most common type of cancers (Lung, Prostrate, and Breast). • It enhances metabolism and assists in weight loss. • It helps in releasing body and mind (due to the presence of L-theanine, an amino acid) and promote mental health. • It guards the brain against the harmful effects of aging like memory loss (Short & Long term) and Alzheimer’s disease. • It eliminates bacteria in the mouth and helps support dental health. • It lowers the risk of cardiovascular diseases

How Green Tea is different from Black Tea?

A brewed Green tea is typically green, hence the name. It is made from the processed leaf of Camellia sinensis sinensis. The different types of Tea, black, green and oolong, are based on the processing or harvesting of the leaf. Green tea is prepared from non-fermented leaves while Black Tea is prepared from fermented leaves. Oolong is made from Semi-fermented leaves.

The story of Tea Origin

India, the world’s largest consumer of tea, is also the second largest producer of tea, in the world. The world’s most popular Indian tea varieties include Assam and Darjeeling tea. There are several legends regarding the origin of Tea. According to a popular legend, the origin of Tea dates back to 5000 years ago in China’s first emperor, Shen Nung. The other legend ascribes the discovery in India in 25-221 A.D. when Gan Lu, a Chinese scholar had visited India for the study of Buddhism took along with his new beliefs of Buddhism and Tea. Today the tea is consumed all over the world, with particularly large industries in India, Srilanka, China & Kenya.

Assam Tea (Camellia sinensis assamica)

Assam play’s a major role in the country’s tea map by producing more than half of the total tea production of India. Not only this, Assam alone produces about 29 percent of the world Tea production. Establishment of the first tea garden in Assam was done in 1835 by the East India Company. The indigenous Assam tea plant is significantly different in some respects from China. It is a delicate plant having larger leaves containing more sap and so stronger tea can be made.

Mechanism of Green Tea action

• Green tea absorption takes places predominantly in the small intestine from where it passes to the large intestine where colonic microflora acts upon. • Green tea metabolite EGCG after being absorbed is transported to the liver where it undergoes extensive methylation, glucuronidation, and sulfation by the cytosolic catechol-O-methyltransferase enzyme. • EGCG has antioxidant effects, hence prevent oxidative injury to DNA and proteins. It may also inhibit the formation of intracellular peroxides. • EGCG may suppress tumor growth by preventing angiogenesis or influencing Interleukin production. • EGCG helps in inhibiting of carcinogenic bacteria (Helicobacter pylori in the stomach). • EGCG may also work to increase the catabolism of carcinogens. • EGCG inhibits the intracellular enzyme fatty acid synthase.

Conclusion

Tea is the most widely ingested beverage in the world after water. Green Tea contains polyphenols, Epigallocatechin-3-gallate and other components that may reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, arthritis, and diabetes. Due to the enormous health-promoting benefits, it is recommended for all to drink the tea.

he rise in the digital news industry has been global and its constant evolution is taking place in India too. Reports suggest that in the forthcoming years, the number of people who are digital literate and connect is going to hit the 4 million mark. India will soon be the world’s largest digital audience. Which is why, India is shoring up its digital infrastructure to help increased digital consumption of news.

Yashasvi Khushu | Business Connect

In a technology-driven digital news market with an ever-demanding consumer, there is a dire need for digital content that captures his attention in a highly competitive environment. For a digital news unit to be successful, it must have excellent narrative skills and attention-capturing style. Which is why staid old print media journalism is giving way to the New Media, news and features portals who are making their own space, often at the cost of then traditional print media. Three years ago, Covai Post was recognized as the most trust-worthy news sources in the city and many of the stories broken by the Covai Post were picked up by the rest, including leading regional and national television channels. Tamil version of the digital publications. The TCP has in a short time, won several awards, including the award for the Best News Website/Best Digital Start-up Award. It has also been adjudged as the ‘20 most promising news portals’ in the country. In a conversation with Business Connect Magazine, Vidyashree Dharmaraj shares the ideologies, outlook, future and more about this promptly gaining popularity portal, Business Connect: How have you adapted yourself to the latest needs of the market? Vidyashree: To keep pace with the changing times and adapt to the growing needs of the people wanting to get all important news at a click, we turned the TCP into a multi-media entity and focused on good video content. It makes me happy to say, many major news channels to source material from us. Sometimes, we are also commissioned to do special features. Business Connect: What gives you an edge over your peers? Please mention some of your fortes. Vidyashree: The committed and experienced staff at the top to guide the team has naturally given it the edge and recognition. Fearlessly taking up issues of human interest that most portals and channels do not dare to do touch, we have become a much sought after portal for news and features, be it political, social, environmental or entertainment. To cite an example, our daring expose of the sufferings of the victims of the Coimbatore serial blasts, on the occasion of the 20thanniversary of the blast victims. We faced several threats and were trolled badly. Our extensive coverage of this as also those on Jallikattu and the Toothukudi firing went viral and earned tremendous amount of goodwill for the media group and won viewership, not just in Tamil Nadu but across the world. Quality of videos and credibility have been our forte. The IT strength of our promoters only added to our technological advantage over the rest in then business. Business Connect: Do you see any transformation happening in the entrepreneurial world? Vidyashree: Entrepreneurship in the business of media has been witnessing a major overhaul. Print has been giving way to online content. It makes competition tougher since technology keeps changing at an astounding pace. TCP has, to keep with the trend, gone in for umpteen updates that have helped it stay afloat. Multimedia content is one such transformation that TCP has adapted. The challenge remains to attract new readers and the retention of old ones. With the quality of and clarity in content, TCP has been trying its best, and successfully to a great extent, in attracting newer readers/ viewers. Business Connect: Did you face any obstacle during the initial days? How did you sail through them? Vidyashree: Yes, like all new ventures, there were teething troubles. Getting the readers to shift to the new format of

online content was indeed a tough nut to crack. Worse, the daring attempt to go in for content, that others refused to touch, affected our revenue flow. But what we lost financially, we made up for gain in our credibility and earned a lot of goodwill. After this, it has been somewhat easy, but tougher all the same to continue to be in the news business. Business Connect: What was your learning during struggling days so that our readers could prepare themselves for upcoming challenges? Vidyashree: We realized that the initial resistance from different quarters was proof that we were on the right track. This gave us the confidence to do what we were doing and make the reader Business Connect: Please tell us something about your clientele. Mention some well-recognized names that could be published in our magazine. Vidyashree: The readers/viewers are of different categories. From the ordinary person on the street to business honchos, big names in the world of arts and films, the clientele has been wide. Business Connect: How do you ensure the unbreakable faith of clients in your company? Vidyashree: Credibility has been our buzz word. Our readers/viewers are certain that what TCP puts out is true and that makes them look out for what we have to say. Business Connect: What are the efforts made by you not to lag behind in the race of having latest technology? Vidyashree: As mentioned earlier, TCP is promoted by a software professional and part-owner of the software company AES Technologies has a global presence. Hence, adapting to changes in the world of technology has never been an issue with us. Business Connect: How much do you rely upon Research and Development? What is the role of research in the growth of the company? Vidyashree: Certainly, R&D is vital. As we are a media venture, we ensure that the staff members are kept abreast with the latest developments. We provide rigorous training to our staff so that they can go deep into subject content-wise, and work with technological precision. Business Connect: How difficult is it to remain relevant in this competitive world? How do you keep yourself motivated during tough times? Vidyashree: Competition is to stay and will always remain a challenge. Giving content that makes us relevant, credible and different has been our guiding force. The criticism we face when we outdo others, coupled with the praise we receive for several of our content is reasons enough for us to stay motivated.

Business Connect: Tell us something about your staff. How do you ensure their efficiency and positivity towards work in challenging times? Vidyashree: Motivation is what makes all try to do better. Constructive criticism, recognition to staff even when coming out with something above average will make them strive to perform better has been working quite well. This ensures positivity. Business Connect: What kind of activities do you conduct to keep your employees energized? Vidyashree: We have frequent get-togethers, cultural events that form part of festivities and we also give away Star Performers and Best Performer awards so that they are motivated.

years as a portal of its kind and the first in Coimbatore, has built a milestone for itself. The content is not just viral through their portal, it also gets hunted by aggregators in news like Times Internet, Daily Hunt, and the News Republic as well. We have got several awards, one of them being from an NGO for the ‘Best Online News Portal’ and in fact we have become a one-stop solution for news of all kinds from the business, economy, digital, technology to entertainment, political and international. We have also won the South India Start-up Award in 2018. The Covai Post has also been credited by the Guinness Book of World Records for live streaming the largest recycling lesson conducted at Coimbatore.

Business Connect: Who is your role model in the business/entrepreneurial world and what have you learned from the person? Vidyashree: After 20 years in the print media industry, the idea to switch over to digital was sudden but strong. Despite several pieces of advice otherwise, I went ahead conceiving the idea of presenting news in the digital format knowing well digital media is still too nascent in the State of TN. There is no specific person that I drew inspiration from but with Coimbatore being a city of entrepreneurs I thought that I would perhaps have it in me to venture independently. Business Connect: In recent times, many cuttingedge technologies such as IoT, AI, and Big Data have changed the modus operandi of business. How has it affected your company? Vidyashree: TCP comes from the stable of leading Coimbatore-based IT firm AES Technologies, which has global reach. This gives the portal the much-needed technological edge which gets reflected in the product quality. Business Connect: What are your contributions to CSR activities? Vidyashree: As part of the Coimbatore District Home Guards which is an auxiliary to the police department, we have been doing several initiatives for the tribal, the underprivileged and the needy. Business Connect: How do see the initiatives of present government with respect to your industry? Have they helped you in any sense? Vidyashree: While the government speaks a lot about digital media, they are yet to bring about modalities to approve or recognize online news portals so that the crowding of such platforms can be curbed. This will also enable the govt. to crack down on fake news circulated by unrecognized online portals. Business Connect: Enlighten us about the achievements of the company. Vidyashree: The Covai Post, in a very little time of three www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Special Edition April 2019 INDIA

Business Connect: What are the milestones of the company? Vidyashree: Three years is a short period for a small media firm out of Coimbatore to have milestones. Yet, our content is being shared by several news channels and portals and discussions are in the final stages for tie-ups with several channels and newspapers/portals for using our content which indeed is a major achievement for us and that too in a short period. Our Tamil supporting portal called Thandoraa remains a big source for regional channels and portals.

“Competition is to stay and will always remain a challenge. Giving content that makes us relevant, credible and different has been our guiding force

Business Connect: What are your efforts to ensure the female workforce at par with male counterparts? Vidyashree: There are no extra efforts added, we naturally have more female staff co-workers than males which by itself is self-explanatory to explicit what bend do we encourage.

VidyashreeDharmaraj

Business Connect: What are your short term and long term future plans for the company? Vidyashree: In the short-term make our presence felt on a wider platform and in the long run come to be recognized as a global brand.

We offer end- to- end marketing outsourcing services encompassing content strategy, creation and marketing. We are 2 years old now, we are headquartered in Bangalore, with a team of 15 people and our clients are primarily into technology and consulting space. Business Connect: How do you keep up with the market trends? Mr. Karthik: A lot of things have changed and moved towards digital in the current scenario. We are focusing mostly on content and digital marketing as our key aspects for our B2B customers. That’s is where we primarily operate, as we believe to get best ROI for marketing investment, companies need to partner with somebody who understands content strategy, creation and content marketing, and that is where we feel we bring in a difference. Business Connect: What gives you an edge over peers? Mr. Karthik: A lot of other agencies are either restricted to content creation or digital marketing. Our expertise comes into the picture with our research backed content strategy, that helps us to understand what kind of content would be better for the client. We also identify the kind of platforms where this kind of content gets absorbed better, thereby investments done in content marketing by the companies give them the right results. market or the trends, you can’t do business. However, companies may not have the expertise and bandwith to commisision such research, that is where a partner like ThoughtStarters helps them build their research agenda, administer the research and create thought leadership content from it that can engage customers better. Business Connect: What do you feel is the scenario for entrepreneurs in your field? Mr. Karthik: In India, This is a wonderful time to be an entrepreneur. The emergence of accelerator networks, angel investors and government policies can help budding entrepreneurs to give wings to their ideas. However, one needs to do a thorough research on their idea, its potential and prepare a good business plan before they can leverage any of these networks. Business Connect: Do you feel competition is important? Mr. Karthik: Yes, because if there is no competition, you will not work on improving yourself, so it is always good to have healthy competition. And especially in our field a lot of times even though there is competition, there is also collaboration. So collaboration helps in bringing two different fields of expertise together and make a successful outcome for clients. Business Connect: How has AI affected you? Mr. Karthik: AI will affect marketing in a big way, in fact, we already are working towards making some unique products incorporating concepts of machine learning, and by the end of this year we are looking forward to having a beta version of the product as well. Business Connect: Is it necessary to keep your staff motivated for better results? Mr. Karthik: Of course, we believe that it is important to keep your staff motivated, and to ensure that, we provide a lot of flexibility at work. As long as whatever work is being assigned is done successfully, it’s serving the purpose. With millennials coming into the picture, the workforce has to be channeled in a way that’s new, the old ways of operations don’t work anymore. We also periodically invest in training our staff so that they are tuned to the latest developments in our area. Business Connect: How are you giving back to society? Mr. Karthik: I am associated with another organization ‘Pink Ladder’ that focuses on improving gender diversity ratios in companies. I firmly believe that we need to get a lot more women at leadership positions in organizations and we are trying to comprehend in what different ways that can be done. I also sponsor education for a lot of underprivileged girls, fund small business run by women entrepreneurs in rural areas, I’m very closely associated with the areas of gender diversity and uplifting of underprivileged women. Business Connect: Where did this all start for you? Mr. Karthik: Starting something of my own was always on the cards, I had a clear plan in my mind for that. Focus

on the thought leadership marketing space actually came into the picture after I spent more time in the industry because that was the role I was handling during my stint with Wipro, Accenture. I saw a huge gap in the quality of output being delivered by agencies . ThoughtStarters is the first company in Asia to focus on leadership marketing, there are only a couple of such companies in the US. Business Connect: What’s your story of struggles? Mr. Karthik: When we started ThoughtStarters, the concept of thought leadership marketing itself was very new. It took a lot of time and education to let companies appreciate the real value of investing in it. Thought leadership marketing requires a lot of constant capital flow before you actually start seeing your ROI, it’s not a typical lead generation and closing sales kind of business. Here you have to build expertise, invest for a sustained period and showcase expertise. Making clients understand this was a huge challenge. This meant our sales cycles were getting longer. Business Connect: What does the future hold for the company? Mr. Karthik: We have handled client from the US earlier, but starting this year we also want to have a more structured focus on clients from Singapore and Europe. We are also working on our product variants, looking to take our business to SME segment. Because there are a lot of interesting companies that are working in the field of data analytics, AI, fintech where we see is a lot of scope for thought leadership marketing. Business Connect: Apart from work what else does interest you? Mr. Karthik: “I love traveling and am a big time movie buff. I am also a voracious reader. In addition to that I also am a life coach where I help people unleash their true potential . I am also pursuing my PHD currently and hope to author a book myself sometime soon!

“Opportunities to become an entrepreneur are really ripe in India at the moment. In order to be successful, one needs to be really passionate about the business idea one is chasing. A never say die attitude can help one go a long way. One message that keeps driving me always is ‘if not now, when? if not me, who? Increasingly, businesses around the globe are realizing that Thought Leadership Marketing gives their business an enduring edge over the long run. Thought Starters, have demonstrated the power and reach of Thought Leadership Marketing by arming their clients with new and more relevant marketing tools and approaches resulting in creating many success stories across industries.

Within the services sector India has a diversified financial sector undergoing rapid expansion, both in terms of strong growth of existing financial services firms and new entities entering the market. The new entrants are supported by a robust growth in India’s HNI (High Net worth Individual) Population which grew at 20.4 per centlast year placing it at the top spot globally. In this issue we talk about one such firm that has embarked on the journey of serving the investment needs of the rising wealthy. Vasudev Gupta, MD, Prosperity Wealth management, in a conversation with Business Connect Magazine shares how running a leading a finance company is both rewarding and challenging in equal parts, Business connect: Please walk through the products & services your offer at your company. Mr. Gupta: In finance there is no one size that fits all. Each investor has unique requirements given his or her age, risk appetite, goals in life, the expectation of returns, capital base, the source of income etc. To be able to understand these requirements and provide solutions that cater to these is vital. At prosperity, we provide a range of investment solutions right from fixed income products, forex risk hedging solutions, mutual funds, index funds to actively managed portfolios. Business connect: What gives you an edge over your peers? Mr. Gupta: Sound knowledge of value investing concepts, a high degree of transparency & superior returns at a reasonable degree of risk taken. We are a long-term oriented company be it in our investment decisions or our relationship with clients. We understand that both take time to mature. We differ in our stand from those comwww.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Special Edition April 2019 INDIA

panies that promise unrealistic returns in unreasonable time frames. Our investing philosophy is perhaps most funnily summarized by the by the noble prize winning economist Paul Samuelson. “Investing should be more like watching paint dry or watching grass grow. If you want excitement, take $800 and go to Las Vegas.” Business connect: Do you see any transformation happening in the financial industry? If yes, please mention a few of these changes. Mr. Gupta: Change in policies and regulations in the recent past such as compulsory KYC & Aadhar linking, Mandatory dematerializing of securities, disclosure of fees, increase in the minimum level of knowledge required to become a SEBI registered advisor have made the financial ecosystem more robust and secure for investors to invest. The financial industry is becoming more transparent and regulated which is a welcome change. Business connect: Mention a couple of your favorite books/novels that have taught you the intricacies of business? Mr. Gupta: A couple of books that have had an impact on the way we invest at Prosperity include the Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham and One up on the wall street by Peter Lynch. Though these books were written many decades ago the fundamental concepts they profess are still very relevant today. The concept of Value investing and the margin of safety is the most enduring amongst them all. The secret is to be able to ascertain with a reasonable degree of accuracy the intrinsic value of a company versus the market value. The difference between these being the margin of safety. In a stock with a high margin of safety, the relationship between risk and reward is not linear. This knowledge is then utilized to build a portfolio to generate superior returns. Business connect: What obstacles do new investors face in the initial days? How did you sail through them? Mr. Gupta: The volatile nature of the stock market could also prove to be an emotional roller-coaster for investors who’ve just begun investing in equities. However, is important to remember that when we buy a stock we buy into a real company and not just a ticker on the computer screen. If you have researched right and believe in the value proposition that the company is offering, then hold tight and do not worry about the volatility which is the inherent nature of the stock market. Long term orientation and patience is the key to making significant returns in this business. Business connect: How do you ensure the unbreakable faith of clients in your company? Mr. Gupta: We create a win-win scenario by aligning our own interest to our clients. We also act on our own advice by investing back a significant portion of our assets into

the securities we believe in. Complete transparency behind the rationale of making investment decisions is provided. We believe in forming long-term & fruitful relationships Business connect: How do you survive in a finance industry filled with giants, for example, mutual fund houses and big banks with their own wealth management divisions? Mr. Gupta: Contrary to popular belief the bigger fund houses have a tougher time beating the index. The reason is simple, the top 100 out of the 5000+ listed companies account for about 93% of the total market capitalization. Which implies large fund houses have no option but to buy into some of the largest companies listed in broader indices such as nifty and SENSEX. Smaller wealth management firms have a better ability to invest and find value in the emerging businesses space where there may still exist a disparity between the market value and intrinsic value of a company. This enables smaller wealth management firms to generate higher returns for their investors as compared to larger fund houses. Business connect: Who is your role model in business/ entrepreneurial world and what have you learnt from the person? Mr. Gupta: My first introduction to the business world was by my father in my family business. I learnt and continue learning some of the most important life lessons from there. Building trust, creatingvalue, having perseverance, and showing grit in the face of adversity are some of the most important lessons that I have learnt from him. I take him to be my mentor/role model. More specifically within the finance field we follow a practice of benchmarking with the best in the industry and try to surpass the benchmark. There are some good fund managers that I admire including Manish Bhandari of Vallum Capital, PorinjuVeliyath of Equity Intelligence &Sumeet Nagar of Malabar Investments. Business connect: What are your short term and long term future plans for the company? Mr. Gupta: Our goal is to consistently generate real returns for our investors and ourselves. We will achieve this through in-depth research, talking to industry experts, and sound knowledge of value investing principals. In the future we hope to provide the opportunity of investing in Indian equities to foreign portfolio investors, thus serving a global clientele. In a short span of timeProsperity Wealth Management has gained significant traction in the wealth management domain. Backed by a loyal clientele they have taken on an ambitious target of becoming the country’s best asset managers. In an otherwise complex financial services Industry prosperity hopes to be a beacon of simplicity and transparency.

Business Connect Team

Project Management as the word indicates the management of the project that the organization undertakes for achieving the goals and targets of niche. There is a multitude of skills a project manager requires to accomplishing the various projects of the firms. For the startups, there is a quintessential requirement for learning the skills to manage the projects they are in. Mangers have the great responsibility to lead their teams with the appropriate skills; if they don’t possess them then the chances of achieving the goals are negligible. I, with deep interest of learning the Project Management skills and preparing a guide on it, interviewed the CEO of BUSINESS CONNECT. With his astounding and inspiring experience, he was thrilled to share with me the key skills which the small business owners ought to take care of. Below is the list, I have prepared with a lot of research and analysis,

SO HERE YOU GO Create a plan or Planning

Setting the deadlines

Planning is essential in every sphere of life. We should have the clarity about our goals, time, resources, cost, etc. for the small or large projects. Without proper planning, the team will be directionless. So, project manager should plan ahead each and every fine detail associated with the project. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Special Edition April 2019 INDIA

The time slot should be fixed for carrying out the multiple tasks in the project. If there are no proper deadlines, then the employees will not take the work seriously and also the time of the project will stretch. The management and supervisors should allot the time limit to the team members.

[ 64 ]

Leadership

Taking follow ups

For the flow of process, an exemplary leader is required. Leaders direct the flow of work in the business, motivates her team, represents the team, suggesting the solutions at the time of adversity, takes the responsibility for the accomplishment of the goals, so as to assure the qualitative delivery of the work.

Without proper follow ups we cannot track the actual progress of the project, so manager ought to take the follow ups and gives the reminders to the team. For example- if employee A has completed the task X in a given period of time, it should be checked by the manager above her.

Research and information

Effective Communication

For carrying out any assignment, people should give the adequate time to research and analysis. The success of the project is directly proportional to the amount of information the team has. A qualitative research should be done on the project by the team members. Ample information, starting from the marketing strategy to the cost should be acquired by the team.

There should be proper and clear communication between the project manager and her team. Proper and effective sharing of ideas via meet ups, emails, calls, messages need to be there for the success of the assignment. In a team also, members should be communicative towards each other.

Providing feedback

Cost inputs

In order to ensure the quality of the work and also for the sake of improvement, managers should provide the proper feedback to her team members individually. In the professional world, growth depends on your attitude towards the feedback. Always, always provide the feedback if from the heart you want some spellbound results.

For any business, capital is the prime factor for running it. This includes the estimation of the project cost, who are going to be the investors? What are the resources required? There are numerous marketing strategies with the overall cost the managers need to look into.

Training and support

For assuring the quality of work and the growth of the employees, project managers should design the proper training curriculum so as to develop the skills of the employees so that they can render the excellent service. If the employee is not working up to the level, valuable support should be provided to her by the mentors.

Risk Management

We are all aware, wherever there is a business, there is always a risk connected to it. The managers should find out the strategy for managing the risks, it can be of cost, risk of trying something new in the venture, hiring of the employees, etc..

“A skilled project manager can add a great value to the business.

Yashasvi Khushu | Business Connect across the WORLD. We are a part of a large conglomerate with diverse business interests in Healthcare, Pharma, Education, IT, Travel and Oil & Gas. Business Connect: What gives you an edge over your peers? Mr. Sreedhar: In comparison to traditional IT companies, our advantage is that we have the domain knowledge and expertise in the vertical of health care. My knowledge comes from our own hospital, any new feature or functionality that is introduced is first tested in our own hospital before it is launched. And in the case of bugs, they are fixed immediately on our trial grounds; the features are tested and then released in the market. It is also applicable to the updates that are going to be introduced in future, with new features and functionalities etc. This is the USP that no other IT company has over us. And this is the reason we are ranked among the best in the country in the healthcare sector. Business Connect: How do you ensure unbreakable faith of the customer? Mr. Sreedhar: We believe in customer satisfaction which is the most important, and to deliver a world-class product. All our customers are happy today as we take up change requests and new requests in the software and provide with constant support 24/7. Business Connect: Do you believe in research and development for the growth of the company? Mr. Sreedhar: Yes, we do believe in R&D, a lot of it has happened in the last 2-3 years. Electronic medical records , Patient Portal and Mobile compatibility , have already been adopted in our software as an innovation. In terms of R&D at present, we are slowly building Business Intelligence ( BI) and predictive analysis into the system itself. Business Connect: What changes have you brought to the company? Mr. Sreedhar: I joined this company 5 years ago in 2014. Till 2014 our company was predominantly focusing on Tamilnadu, and there was no Pan India presence. In the last 4 years, I feel proud to state that the company has established a Pan India presence. I have also successfully fulfilled the vision of our Chairman to go global. Our growth in the last Financial year is 100%. We have happy customers around the world in places like Kenya, Oman, Nepal, Malaysia, Iraq and more.

[ 68 ]

Business Connect: How do you believe you are giving back to society? Mr. Sreedhar: We are giving a world-class solution in the space of healthcare which is the best way to give back to society. We are in a service-oriented industry. We take care of the records of millions of patients ensuring their secrecy and privacy. As on date we have captured more than 1 Billion OP Registrations, I Million IP Requests in our software starting from 50 bedded to more than 2000 bedded Hospitals .Creating a secured patient’s record is in itself a great service, I believe. Business Connect: What else is your space of interest? Mr. Sreedhar: I am a speaker at various public forums, Board Of Studies member, External Examiner, guest lecturer, an avid reader and a movie maker. Recently I have made a Short Film with a social message, for human rights. More than a favorite book, I carry a philosophy. I believe in the Karmic effect that what you sow, you reap. And this has got a very in-depth meaning that can be related to both science and spirituality. Business Connect: What kind of obstacles have you faced over the years? Mr. Sreedhar: Unfortunately in the health sector, without any second thoughts, the hospital management ventures to invest into all high value medical equipment like CT scan, the MRI machine, the X-ray machine etc. because of the tangible and immediate results. But when it comes for investment in IT, the stakeholders become very price sensitive as they do not realize the value, don’t see the effect immediately and is intangible and that is the biggest bottleneck that we are facing as an industry. They understand that technology is the backbone of the business, but the decision making process is slow. We are gradually making them realize the value of investing in IT. Business Connect: Do you believe there have been transformations in the entrepreneurial world? Mr. Sreedhar: Yes, I do believe it has happened, the young generation is coming into the healthcare industry with a good amount of education, from all parts of the world. They understand the importance of IT, also the culture of IT is imbibed from around the world by these young minds and brought back to the country. So in that respect, I believe that there are a lot of changes happening. There is an acceptance of new technology with the new stream of stake holders. Business Connect: Do you believe in positive competition? Mr. Sreedhar: Yes, I do believe in positive competition and to remain relevant in this competitive world it is necessary to have a Unique Selling Preposition. There could be a USP over the pricing, over the Business model, over the technology, the product, innovation etc., For us, the USP is our Domain Knowledge and innovation. Business Connect: How do you ensure the loyalty and motivation remains constant in the staff? Mr. Sreedhar: My biggest strength is my staff, we boast of

Sreedhar Veeramony COO AOSTA Software Technologies

an employee friendly organization. Our staff is extremely happy working for us and is recognized for their outstanding performance which makes them motivated and loyal to the organization. Business Connect: Who has inspired you? Mr. Sreedhar: My inspiration comes from my Chairman, Dr. Nalla G Palaniswami, a multifaceted personality, a Medical Doctor by profession, Business Magnet, Educationalist, Entrepreneur, Philanthropist, and above all a great Human Being, having great love towards Tamil Language and Literature. His story is fascinating and inspiring . His journey started by establishing a Hospital with the vision to serve people. Realizingthe importance of having good nurses, led him to establish the line of Education as a Business vertical. He started College of Nursing, Pharmacy and ventured into Arts and Science College, Engineering College, Teachers Training College, School, and now is in the process of establishing a Medical College too. All this prompted him to start other allied businesses like Pharma, IT, Travel and Oil & Gas. Basically it was backward integration, each of his business verticals would contribute to other verticals, by which he ensures the Revenue get rotated within the same Group all spear-headed by him. This vision, I believe, is great, and I admire it thoroughly. His humility, dynamism, Charisma and his magnetic smile gets people attracted to him, and he commands respect from approximately 5000 employees and their families of the group companies/ institutions, who feel connected to him. AOSTA Software Technologies believes in long relationships with the customers and mutual commitments to help them grow. With the rise of technology throughout the healthcare field, they have developed cutting edge software to better manage the information generated by newer technologies with one eye firmly focused on patient safety and the other on improving healthcare delivery for a better tomorrow.

TOURISM My heart rejuvenates when I go out and see the world around Because I work so hard all the year round, My soul wanders with the new places It’s crucial time to explore these places. Business Connect Team

Travelling for me is always a heart- lightening experience. As an entrepreneur or a working woman, I am quite aware of today’s working life style. Youngsters are quite stressed and they are forgetting to refresh their souls. Work, work and work which is the main reason of so many problems related to mental as well as physical health. There is no doubt in that; the work occupies a monolithic part of our lives. But, this is also true besides work we have a life. Henceforth, to keep the balance working people should plan some time for themselves and they ought to be selfish in that. I was reading about Bill Gates in Indian Business Magazine in which he shared with the readers,” I always plan a short expedition after two or three months with my family, because it provides me leisure time to spend with my loved ones in exotic locations” . Wandering to new places, leaving your day to day workplace will energize your heart with beautiful positivity. Thou will meet new people, explore various cuisine and culture. Travelling will release your stress and gives you positive vibes to restart the work.

Therefore to refresh the neurons of your brain,” YE shall go out and take a voyage to unknown places to be lost…” There are many places in India to explore for a vacation, it depends on you whether you want to explore hill stations, adventurous places, hot places (in winters), cool places (in summers), etc… Below are the list of some heart thudding and jaw dropping places that I have visited in one year to relax and release my work and personal stress:

Rajasthan

One of my favorite tourist spots, the hottest state. The best time to visit this beautiful place is in winters. Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan, where you are going to find many exquisite forts like Amer Fort, City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Jal Mahal, etc. Udaipur is also the lovely tourist spot which is also known as the city of the lakes. It’s in Rajasthan but when you go there you will not feel that you are in Rajasthan, there is a feeling of some hill station and cool place.

Nainital and Mussorie

Nainital is a city of Taals, it’s a wonderful, natural and exotic vacation spot. Beautiful mountains, lakes, and valleys will not let your soul to leave this place.

Mussoorie

It’s also a hill station and known as the queen of the hills. Forests are such dense, everywhere there is a bed of greenery. So, these were my favorite vacation spots. You can find your own. Travel and collect some astounding memories which cannot be vanished with time but will brighten.

With Devops Being “The Most Demanded Certification Worldwide”, Xellentro Proves To Be The Best Go-To Training Institute In India Yashasvi Khushu | Business Connect

Xellentro – The leading multinational training institute offers DevOps, Agile, IT Service Management (ITIL 2011 and ITIL4), Project, Program and Portfolio Management consulting and training services. Established in 2012 and Headquartered in Bangalore, India, they work closely with their clients in tackling some of the most difficult organizational development challenges. Being a specialist organization, they work with clients to identify improvement areas where experienced consultants enhance their business and development processes. Niladri has 29 years of IT consulting and training experience across a range of verticals and technology. He is also accredited by G2G3 for their DevOps Simulation. In a conversation with Business Connect Magazine, Dr. Niladri Choudhri talks about their training and consulting and how they are accredited to a number of organizations for their international certifications and more; Business Connect: How do you keep up with the change of trends? Dr. Niladri: Since we are primarily involved in the process of training and consulting, it is very important for us to keep ourselves updated. introduces the new set of updates like DevOps which was not there for a long time, it was introduced in 2015 in India and hence we trained ourselves accordingly. Business Connect: Do you feel competition is important and how do you serve differently? Dr. Niladri: In the sector of education, the competition is pretty high because the number of players are much higher than the number of people at the receiving end of it, the suppliers are far more than the buyers. For starters in terms of the difference, we are trying to tap the market much faster than others. For example, presently we are the first one who are eligible to certify DevSecOps if you look at the continuous Security, Continuous delivery, etc., there are very few vendors that are providing the same. So we make sure that we are getting into the market faster than other vendors and providing the services quicker and better. Next what we do is taking care of the quality, we ensure bringing in only the kind of people who have experience of the industry, we try to add value to the organization at each step, this is the biggest reason why our clients are happy and we have a stand in the market. Business Connect: Do you ever feel a difficulty in remaining relevant to the market? Dr. Niladri: No, because we are keeping the pace up with the market, so it doesn’t feel difficult. Relevance in terms of keeping pace is something that we do have to take care since we can’t keep doing the old. Look at a

project management kind of certification or consulting - there are a number of organizations with an IT scenario where you will see that they are doing projects that are agile. You have to be prepared for a technology that is used in these projects which demands staying current and relevant. And when it comes to innovation, Xellentro has been accredited by DevOps Institute as a continuous and innovative educational partners in DevOps training. Business Connect: How do you ensure the faith of your clients in your brand? Dr. Niladri: After being in the industry for all these years, now thankfully, we have established a brand value in the market in terms the number of people who have been trained by us and endorse our quality standards. Our focus is not to just scale up our business, but to deliver quality in whatever we take up. Business Connect: What role does technology play for you in your vertical? Dr. Niladri: There are a couple of things that come into play here, whenever there is something new coming up, I personally believe that there should be an experienced trainer in the said relevant field to ensure precision in knowledge sharing. Business Connect: Do you feel R&D is necessary for the growth of your company? Dr. Niladri: Of course, we do. We constantly look for new things that could be happening in the market. And one such trend nowadays is “the immersive learning”. Xellentro is the only organization to be associated with G2G3, a company driving successful digital transformation using experiential learning for DevOps simulation through games. This has been brought into the picture to ensure parity in the understanding of DevOps through the hierarchy. The Internet is full of information about everything, some good and some not so good, and it is difficult to figure what to keep and what to filter out. And that is where our expertise comes into the picture. Business Connect: What part of your success do you credit to your co-workers? Dr. Niladri: Absolutely, everyone comes together, it’s not just one person doing the job. When we are trying to build a brand, it is only possible when one knows well

about the business. Initially, when I started out in 2012, we were selling it as Niladri, but not anymore. As times have changed, we are now selling Xellentro as a brand which require social media presence, digital marketing, content building and publishing impactful stories. Last year we hosted the DevOps India Summit, and that is the largest summit of its kind happening in India. I have ensured to bring in global leaders to make this event a success. People see value, they have associated our brand with excellence and it helps the community when knowledge is shared. All of this is not possible without the efforts put in by the team. Business Connect: What is on the cards for the company in the future? Dr. Niladri: Since the DevOps India Summit is going to be an annual Xellentro event, this year we are looking to tap the market in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia as there is lot of potential in these markets right now. We want to grow into a global brand where we are seen as thought leaders by sharing knowledge and help people grow for the better. We are also working on expansion, now that we have opened an office Singapore, we are looking at building a team there gradually and then the next target for us will be the USA. Business Connect: What else do you like to do minus work? Dr. Niladri: I like to travel, long drives and spend time with my family. Business Connect Team In olden days, if you remember people use to live longer lives than the men and women of today. Have you ever thought, ‘why? You all are aware of this; I may be acting as a pointer, who is pointing you all the readers to have a deep look inside your life style and then the lifestyle of your grandfathers and grandmothers. Food

Today’s generation is pizza eating generation; they are surviving on junk food. There is no conscious diet they are taking. So, it’s the prime requirement to eat right. Eat green vegetables, fruits, pulses, etc. Be a conscious foodie rather than just a foodie.

ê ÉÉå

í É~

Sleep

Sleep becomes the second priority, if we look closely to the life style of our youth today. They spent uncountable hours just scrolling what’s app or Facebook account, I find it quite insane, because people of older generation also lived a way happier lives than us. It’s quite important to take 8-9 hours of sleep. I know because of work stress or some other personal reasons, it becomes quite hard to maintain it. But let’s just try to not scroll the mobile phones 1 hour before going to bed.

Exercise

Doing physical activity is really beneficial for the livelihood. Gym becomes the modern trend for the girls and boys to be fit, which is quite a nice way to be fit for the fitness freaks. However, 15 minute walk will also do a lot and keeps you fresh and rejuvenates your spirit.

áãÉ

ÉñÉê Åá ë É

Meditation Personally, I love to give myself alone time, where you can peacefully sit with your all senses alive and dig deeper insights of pious soul. Your concentration level gets enhanced.

UÜ=ë ä ÉÉé

Deep breathing relaxes the body, reduces the stress, lowers the daily anxieties, and makes you more focused. Meditation keeps you rejuvenated and the feeling is so surreal.

ã áäâ

A balanced life can be lead in your busy hours also. This depends on the priority. Work is an important part of life, undoubtedly we cannot live without it, but it cannot shade the other aspects of life, so this is quite important to give heed to other aspects of life. The good bonding with the people around also makes you live a longer life.

REAPING FROM ONE OF THE BIGGEST PLATFORM FOR SMART CARDS “To be honest, greatest motivation for me is to “Make it Large” one day. And I’m still striving hard for it and seek newer challenges in life to fuel my passion for excellence in everything I do.” Neeraj Saxena Yashasvi Khushu | Business Connect Smart cards! As much as this sounds like an extravagant concept, the future is largely looking forward to its boom with respect to the current scenario. It does not just have successfully negated our dependence on papers but also made information available at exponential convenience. The rapid drift of the global scenario towards a more technological bend has been largely the reason behind this demand exploitation of smart cards. In the coming years smart cards are going to infest every vertical possible and though still endorsing an embryonic stage, India will soon be witnessing a massive growth. And from the basket of pioneers in microprocessor-based membership smart card concept in India, B2C Systems Limited, vouches by a strong hold on innovative methods and processes. Neeraj Saxena, Managing Director, B2C Systems Limited, He instigated his journey at a very young age of 20 and his Masters in Information Technology and Management with E-commerce specialization helped him enormously in setting up B2C Systems in the Millennium year 2000. He has succeeded in growing B2C systems strength to strength and create a niche for itself in the comprehensive automation of Social, Sports and Recreational Clubs with Membership Smart Cards.

NEERAJ SAXENA

MD, B2C Systems Limited

The Stepping Stones

The brainchild of Neeraj Saxena and headquartered in Delhi, B2C Systems has been offering steadfast services to Smart Cards based turnkey Automation Solutions in Hospitality Domain, containing Hardware, Networking and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software entirely integrated with Membership Smart Cards. They are striving hard to make it larger and become a trusted partner of choice for global businesses looking to ‘differentiate at the front’ and ‘standardize at the core’ through technology interventions. B2C Systems provides optimal solutions from Microprocessor Chips (RFID/contactless) to Application Management Systems. bent organization, B2C Systems develops IT solutions that outline corporate intranets and extranets, rationalization communication structures for their industries. Neeraj faced a number of challenges and one of the major ones was to find the right talent to build his team, given the pool of opportunities interfering from overseas.

“I figure that the high employee attrition rate is yet not recognized as a debilitating factor by the IT industry. The youthful today are easily lured by the possibility of placement with startups without a care for long term career goals because of a abrupt rise in remuneration regardless of whether it may only mean a transient gain at the expense of a long term career trajectory.” Added Neeraj. Building a worthy team is an inevitability, and then keeping them back is another task. Individuals today have developed a tendency to join with mammoth commitments but not dither at all in abandoning their job, without even serving proper notice periods and handing over, if they get a better prospect. Though it isn’t a sin to secure future but leaving the organization in the songbird is highly amateurish. This turns out to be a major issue representing a threat to the overall development of any company. Further most of the Service Providers in the present smart card based solutions don’t have appropriate and adequate knowledge, neither of the domain nor of the technology innovations. Further they don’t consider the earnestness of the deployment of Smart Cards based Solutions which actually is nothing less than a paradigm-shift into the existing framework and processes of any company.

Why Opt For B2C Systems?

Built on the strong pillars of integrity, honesty, and re-sult-oriented Solutions to manage the business ofclients, the most important factor that differentiates B2C Systems from other players is the expertise and under-standing in the Membership based Clubs’ Domain functioning Knowledge, requirements and implementation challenges.

Clients of B2C Systems

With a mission to provide solution-oriented IT and related value-added services to its clients, B2C systems have served numerous prestigious customers. The list includes names like Defence Services Officers’ Institute (DSOI), Delhi Gymkhana Club Ltd, Civil Services Officers’ Institute (CSOI), Indian Naval Services (INS) India, PHD Chambers of Commerce, Dehradun Club (Dehra Doon), Airports Authority of India Officers’ Institute, Wheler Club (Meerut), Sapta Shakti Officers’ Institute (Jaipur), Seafarers Welfare Housing Association, Armed Forces Welfare Housing Association and many more. The motivation of B2C Systems Limited has promptly been in the Club Automation Sector – “B2C_Digital Club”. It has made available backing to its clients to mechanize all the procedures within a Social, Sports and Recreational Clubs. Being the leading IT Solution and Service provider Company does not just mean being the largest but it does also mean being the unsurpassed in footings of consumer worth, customer facility, employee talent, and dependable and foreseeable growth.

Expansion Plans

The company has ideas to magnify itself Pan India trailed by spreading itself globally. “Well, in the era of technology, it is indispensable to keep yourself well-informed with all the revolutions and fresh expansions taking place in the sector. We try to be present at relevant conferences and exhibitions, internationally, that benefits in adding to the upsurge our prominence and network”, states Neeraj.

Very soon B2C Systems is coming with Handheld-based POS Terminals fully integrated with Membership Smart Cards and other functional Modules in B2C-Digital Club Solution for POS Billing, Access Control, and Smart Card Issuance/Charging etc. It is pertinent to mention here that till date, in India, companies are offering Handheld POS Terminals based solutions only in Non-Members, nonSmart Cards based locations like individual F&B Outlets.

Various big players serving Hospitality Industry have failed to provide workable solutions in Club Domain, given that there are several domain-specific nitty-gritty which the HMS Service Providers fail to grasp and eventually the whole system deployment by them fails to produce the deliverables and expectations.

With a mission to provide solution-oriented Information Technology and related Consultancy services to their clients, B2C Systems is on the path to building a reputation of being one of the most premier IT Solution and Service provider Company through robust and structured methodology, with gradual evolution from hard-work to smart- work culture.

At B2C Systems, they provide Membership Smart Card Solutions, in a basic and cost-effective manner, by working with their present membership databases and replacing any existing membership cards, or incorporating secured databases.

“I have no reluctance in accepting that without the support of the team and of course my family I would not have accomplished whatever little I have at present.” Neeraj Saxena.

The year saw the steady uptrend in the hospitality sector. The continued strong growth rates in foreign tourist arrivals and airline passenger movement coupled with muted supply growth contributed to the growth. The settling down of business sectors to all the new initiatives rolled out in 2018 and growing demand from the domestic market segment added further impetus. Along with this growth, comes the focus on management and leadership hiring, with the human resource talent pool being the backbone to the growth of the sector. The hiring outlook looks positive for the coming year. In fact, hiring intent in 2019 is expected to be the strongest after a gap of four years on the back of bullish employment opportunities in Travel and Hospitality sectors as per India Skills Report 2019. Since 2010, Neha Garg, Founder, Director & CEO, Red Kite Consulting Private Limited has been turning the established model of executive search on its head and has assisted their clients to source and hire today’s leaders and tomorrow’s stars. Neha Garg, The visionary! Neha is a distinguished Alumni of WGHSA 12th course (1998-2001)& university rank holder who graduated with outstanding rank credentials receiving Scholarships for excellence in F&B Service, Production, and Accommodation Operations. She was awarded the scholarship for Best Outstanding Student in F&B Service & Production 1998, 1999 & 2000 and held 1st Class with Distinction in all subjects. She topped F&B Service, Accommodation Operations, F&B Production, and Environmental Studies 1998, 1999, 2000 & 2001. She was selected for the Post Graduate Diploma in Hotel Management (PGDHM) at Oberoi Centre of Learning & Development post-WGSHA. Sought for her expertise and adept business handling, she has been the face of all major luxury hospitality groups in identification and recruitment of key talent across multi-disciplinary functions, being an extension of their tactical corporate HR platform representing global luxury hospitality clients. A dynamic and accomplished professional in the hospitality and aviation industry, she has spent 19 years across both sectors having worked at some of the best companies in India, USA & Australia handling senior management roles in business development & marketing communications at Air Sahara/ Jetlite, Lufthansa A.E.R.O, Spice Jet, Taj Hotels, Punj Lloyd Aviation, Air Works & Skypac Aviation. Business Connect: How have you adapted yourself to the latest needs of the market? Neha: By being relevant and ahead of time. We are easy to connect for both companies and candidates alike. We don’t want anyone to go through the hassle of calling a number, listening to a robot and choosing among options one, two, three or four on the phone tree and then holding

the line for another three minutes. We follow a consultative approach as executive search at the top of the pyramid (where executive search firms are summoned to find the talent for senior strategic roles) are direct searches and more than often confidential in nature and operating in the passive segment. On the candidate side, enduring, mentor relationships are vital in persuading high flyers to leave their current roles and take up new positions. Such bonds do not form overnight. They can only be achieved by search firms investing time and energy in candidate management. Search firms that genuinely focus on candidate management will be more likely to land those few special candidates who make a difference, the ones their clients covet. We have partnerships built on trust and earned our place in top HR leadership minds in the hospitality industry and we constantly reinvent ourselves to remain compelling. Business Connect: What gives you an edge over your peers? Neha: Passion, knowledge, and efficiency of time. We have deep experience in executive and specialist recruiting and offer much more than the transactional approach. We are opinionated, unafraid to ask awkward but important questions and talk openly about the things which most search firms want to keep quiet. We are proud to be ‘contrarians’. Our approach has demonstrated that there is always a better and more intelligent way to conduct every search assignment. For us “Only the best is good enough”. The business world is changing and the business of recruiting leaders must change too. Boards and HR Directors want committed, collaborative partners who are not shy about innovation. Finding top candidates is just the start. We are pioneers in assessing constantly evolving executive genres and follow acute assessment. Business Connect: What kind of clients have you served? Neha: Our global luxury hospitality clients include Hyatt Hotels & Resorts ( including erstwhile Alila&Ista), Hilton Hotels, Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts, Marriott Hotels & Resorts ( including The RitzCarlton Hotels & erstwhile Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, Leela Palaces, Hotels & Resorts, Taj Hotels, Palaces & Resorts , Intercontinental Hotels Group, Accor Hotels (including Fairmont Raffles Hotels International & Swissotel), Mövenpick, Carlson Rezidor and other leading hospitality and corporate groups such as GHM, Booking.com, Diageo, Brindco International, Brigade Group, Embassy Group, Max India, Wafi Group LLC, Phoenix Mills Limited, MBD Group&K Raheja Corp. Business Connect: How do you ensure the unbreakable faith of clients in your company? Neha: Our delivery speaks for itself! We Focus On Service, Quality and Transparency. Search firms are being challenged daily by clients and candidates alike. As with most other services or products, would-be customers are comparing offers, checking feedback on recruiters or verifying profitability. Most of that information is but a mouse click away.

“Recruitment is the most ethical job in the world: We help candidates make a career step forward and companies to find that very talent they need to achieve their goals and make economies turn. The future looks bright – at least, when you do the right things and when you do them right.” Business Connect: What are the efforts made by you not to lag behind in the race of having latest technology? Neha: As HR functions become more sophisticated, it is technology that is empowering them to perform search work themselves. The challenge for the executive search industry is to step up the pace and digitize parts of the service offering. HR functions will want to cherry pick specific services that will complement their in-house capability. External search firms will need to be open-minded about how to earn their money. They will need to be transparent and accountable. They will need to offer more for less. Income will keep shifting away from commissions to retainer fees and even subscription fees for knowledge-based services. Business Connect: How much do you rely upon Research and Development? What is the role of research in the growth of the company? Neha: Research is a necessary part and parcel of the talent search. The research team is largely candidate facing and empowers the consulting team with various activities like - market mapping, candidate identification, sourcing, candidate development, candidate interviewing and assessment, reference checks, scientific assessments, reporting, and other related activities. Business Connect: How difficult is it to remain relevant in this competitive world? Neha: Executive search firms must be equipped not only to analyse talent constructs but to understand how they contribute to business success. Some leadership advisory firms have already moved away from a transactional approach and are adding value as long-term partners with a broader perspective. The key is to help clients do what they can’t do themselves, whether through lack of expertise or resource, and to keep developing strategic advisory services that push the envelope. Even clients with relatively sophisticated in-house recruitment functions may only feel comfortable doing an executive search up to the point of finalizing a candidate long list. Beyond that, many will still appreciate external expertise on a range of issues such as benchmarking, coaching, attraction & retention and talent pool development. Headhunting firms are finding new ways to expand their services beyond executive search by adding practice areas like board advisory, succession planning, assessments, and executive coaching. Disruption within the digital economy has led to the creation of leadership roles within various sectors. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Special Edition April 2019 INDIA

Neha Garg

Business Connect: What are the milestones of the company? Neha: A near 100% success track record for all assignments mandated to us. We cannot disclose leadership hires done by Red Kite due to confidentiality clauses in our talent engagement contracts with the hotel groups at large but have handled notable leadership appointments across all major international and Indian hotel groups. Red Kite is excited about its new product launch for hospitality recruitment in 2019. The company is open to evaluate VC funding though at this stage they remain self-funded. They have a premium space in the luxury hospitality industry in India and are the market leaders in this space. They do not make marketing pitches to garner business but are sought for the expertise they bring to the table. Having said that, the future of the strengthened framework of the recruitments seems higher with tremendous potential bought by Red Kite, one of the best in the market.

Reasons You Should Start a Podcast to Promote Your Business Business Connect Team

A

s a business woman, I have quite a good experience related to profits, sales, customers, marketing strategy, promotion plans. For competitive business owners, Promotion Strategy plays a beneficial role in increasing the sales or satisfying the needs and demands of customers. Without fine Promotion Strategy, the chance of growth of business is least. Therefore, in this article, I would be spreading light on the promotional strategy that I opted for the growth of our business. Past four to five years, I, worked as a facilitator in Freedom English Academy. It is an NGO, that works in the education sector for the under privileged kids. The purpose of our team was to provide the benefit to the maximum kids in the community. So, we have adopted many advertisement strategies, as a writer, I wrote many articles, blogs, and stories for increasing the reach. But we reached to a limited audience and as a result, less number of students was coming to the branches because of which our resources were wasted. I, as a deep thinker and problem solver, was working day and night, exploring the internet, and talking to my friends. Coincidently, one of my friends, Nishant called me and asked me to listen to the podcast of most renowned personality ‘TONNY ROBBINS’. Then, I gave a heed to it. I was amazed because the purpose of his talk series was, “How to grow small businesses with the help of podcast?” I quickly summoned my notepad and pen, started jotting down all the points which he voiced.

Time Savior and Interesting

There are numerous articles, blogs, success stories, people transcribe for spreading the business worldwide. But, there are few people who want to read a long article, blogs or posts. They just scroll down the screen, leave the lengthy text not going through the detail article, because they get bored. To avoid this, so as to engage more customers, an effective podcast is the requirement. People will find easy to listen the podcast rather going through a long, monotonous blog. A person will feel more connected if he or she gets connected with the voice, feels motivated, and get influenced by listening to the podcast. Everybody is not interested in reading the article of 700 words. We work for the people, so this is the requirement to find out the solution in order to increase the reach. Based on the analysis, 30% of the population goes for reading the long blogs.

Grow relationships

As the world becomes techie, to possess mobile phones

is very easy for the humans around the globe. People have smartphones, they just need to download the podcasts and very easily they can listen to them. Going in a car, taking a long walk, eating the food they just plug the headphones into the ears and go for it. Instead of having one sided communication, but the listeners of the podcasts feel so much connected, that listening over and again a bond is developed. They want to listen more to their speakers, want to connect with them through various social media like face book, instagram, etc… In this way, the audience will build a trust and ever lasting relationship with their podcast speakers. Great business minded folks like the entrepreneurs in the BUSINESS CONNECT release their podcasts weekly to help their customers find out their new products release, the growth they made, son on and so forth.

Develop Public Speaking Skills

Podcaster will definitely acquire exemplary Public Speaking skills while carrying out the sessions. I interviewed one of the outstanding business owners of Business Connect, who initiated the podcast for his niche. He shared with me that initially when he heard his recordings that were awful because the lack of words, confidence, a lot of hesitation, terrible verbal abilities. But as the time progresses, he kept on working on his Public Speaking skills with the help of trainer, then continuous recording his audio clips. With practice, his sessions got improved, and then he started giving the talks on TED shows also, where he showed his endeavor. With the correct usage of facial expressions, voice quality, intonation, astounding stage presence, he created an exemplary influence. Hence, podcast will tremendously improve the oracy skills. So, why don’t we go for making Podcast? The overall personality is going to be developed. “Let the world listen to you.”

Create it from anywhere

Many people can listen to it whenever and wherever they want. From the podcasts, many small business owners get an idea and motivation to make their business large. They want to attend your company’s public meeting, this increases the brand value of the product, consequently, build up the audience.

Create a personal influence

When a person can look her podcaster through you tube, and listen to him or her with all the senses alive, then the speaker can create an influence in the minds of the listener or viewer. For example- if a podcast is about health and hygiene, when a viewer sees her podcaster extremely fit and enthusiastic, reciprocating the influence she also wants to follow the same health and fitness regime. It means you are building a rapport with the audience, which will automatically boost the self-confidence. Your audience will love to listen to you repeatedly. They want to interact to you, follow you, asking the questions.

There is flexibility that a person from anywhere can create the podcast. For example: if he is sitting on his sofa, he just presses the record button of his camera, and then put on the web. No cost is involved; feel free to upload the video or audio. You can even do your other works accomplished; find the leisure time for making it. From cafes, in your cozy drawing r o o m s along with the cup of coffee, you can just open the video recorder of the smart phone. “From anywhere, thou can conquer the world of business.”

People overseas want to connect with you and spread the message and gives you opportunity to be in the good books of some of the successful people. It will increase thy morale; henceforth provide you the great opportunities in the B-world. I, as a writer, came into alignment with the Business Connect through multiple podcasts. I made multiple podcasts on public speaking, upgrading the confidence, how to bring a change in the education sector in the society? Therefore, Podcasts will provide the business owners to increase the reach and spread the connection with the some of the successful personalities globally. Now-a-days, I, on the daily basis, listening to the meditation podcasts, it gives me a sensation of relief and provides me a calmness to continue my daily work. Susie is the creator of this podcast, she is in this field of meditation and yoga since 15 years, with the help of her channel, I came into the alignment of large number of spiritual people, which provides helps me to create an unshakable balance in my personal and professional life.

Opportunity to endorse a personal brand

It’s the biggest platform to create your own personal brand. For an instance: a writer can endorse her book through the recording of her audio clip and upload on the web. I have endorsed my several copies of the last book on you tube. This provides me ample chances to connect with a variety of authors and poets; channelized my writing talents across the world. I was amused by such a grand welcome from my audience. Now, most of the publishers and writers know the quality of my work and they know my genre and writing style. Therefore, above listed points, showcase large number of benefits in PODCASTING. So, in my NGO, the management gave me a green signal to go for the Podcasting sessions. Thereby, with my team, I recorded the podcasts which were about the importance of qualitative education in the society. As a result of which, many students along with their parents came to our institutes to take the benefits from the organization in terms of education. Therefore, a magnificent influence we have created through PODCASTS.

Establishes proper communication

Undoubtedly, we connect to the person’s voice rather reading an article or long blog posts. Voice creates an impact; audience feels the presence of the person who is the addresser. Then audience can also form questions and answering sessions in the comments, because they developed a trust on the speaker and then there will be a proper communication. www.businessconnectindia.in | Vol. 1 | Special Edition April 2019 INDIA
