INTRODUCTION TO THE SITE - ASHIYANA COLONY The Study area is situated on the southern side of the city Meerut. The Site is situated near Hapur road entering the city. It is located on Pilokhari road or Nala road. On the one hand side of Nala it’s Umar Nagar and on the other hand side our site I.e. Ashiyana colony.

INTRODUCTION TO THE SITE AREA The Area has its own Significance in terms of Transportation and Businesses. The Nala road acts as a Mediator for the Traffic hence connect Outer roads of the City to various Cities. It also acts as a lane of small scale and large scale businesses. Various small scale Industries are also been set up near this lane. Also, some stalls are available on the other side of Pilokhari road that runs local businesses like Tea sellers, Chaar pai makers, lohaars, labourer etc. The Nala road helps us to reach the site easily. It is connected with the main passing Pilokhari road as mentioned above in the picture. Both the roads are bridged at various points near to every coming street.

Ashiyana colony serves Residences, Local Businesses, Clothing- Power looms, Sports industries, Jhoola makers, Hospitals, Schools etc. Its an Important area in the city of Meerut in terms of Living and Occupation.

GROWTH OVER THE YEARS There’s a rapid Growth we can see over the Past 14 years with the help of google earth diagrams.

CRITERIA FOR DELINEATION OF THE STUDY AREA The Area of Study comes under the site. The Study area has been selected to understand how any Individual residing in Ashiyana colony will face the activities throughout the day. Study Area is going to cover most of the activities happening by any Individual around the site. It is finally divided into 3 zones of study area respectively : (a) Home to our Workshop (b) Home to nearby important landmarks like School, Hospital, Industries etc (c) Housing + Commercial Belt

HOME TO OUR WORKSHOP In this Dissertation, I’ve tried to figure out the residential units around the Site. It concluded me that almost every plan is similar in typology and hence, studied my own house to discover it. The site area for the house is approx. 100m2. It has covered the whole ground coverage of the site.

The Workshop is situated on the PIlokhari road opposite to the site area. It produces Steel Furniture like Almirah, Showcase, Cooler, Kitchen Inlets etc. The site area is approx. 156m2 for the workshop where we have a an open terrace for Paint job.

The Tertiary road can be considered as Gali ( Street ) which runs inside the site.

DRAINAGE SYSTEM

There are open drains along both side of the roads and streets in the study area which drains out in the Nala outside we have on our site’s outskirts.

The Nala is in unhygienic condition. As we can see through photos, there’s no dumpyard around the site, thus people use Nala to throw out there wastes.

Their Primary order comes from very famous ‘Nauchandi Mela’, One of the biggest Fair of Uttar Pradesh, held in Meerut.

NAUCHANDI MELA The Nauchandi Mela is an annual fair held at Nauchandi Ground in Meerut. The fair stretches for about a month and is organized by the Municipal Corporation of Meerut.
