E icient weed control with potential financial benefits

Providing advanced technology for progressive farmers, Garford Farm Machinery o ers the “latest technology” for e cient weed control on farm. Garford manufactures a range of robotic mechanical weed control products, including the Robocrop precision guided hoe, InRow weeders, babyleaf salad hoes and hooded sprayers; all with band spraying equipment as an additional option if required. Garford also supplies mechanical weed control products with manual guidance.

Garford says it has been a leader in camera-guided interrow and in the row cultivators for many years. The longstanding partnership between Garford and NIAB enables research projects focusing on inter-row hoeing for black-grass control. There is substantial evidence indicating that this is a key component of weed management in the future. NIAB’s ndings predict that understanding the costs involved with migrating to new techniques will become a priority. NIAB also highlights how inter-row cultivation requires some additional capital investment, yet the operating costs are low, making this an attractive o ering.

The nancial bene ts of interrow cultivation could outweigh the cost of herbicide use, with the inter-row cultivation costing £15/ha, according to Garford, which is four times cheaper than achieving that additional control with herbicides.

Garford Robocrop guided InRow and Inter-Row hoes are all bespoke and custom built to clients’ individual requirements. To nd out more about Garford products, contact the company directly. FG
