introduction
Free talks sponsored by Workshops sponsored by Proud supporter of Farnham was granted World Craft Town status in June 2020 following a successful application by Farnham Maltings and Farnham Town Council. Farnham is now the first and only World Craft Town in England. The award is in recognition of the special role that craft plays in our Joincommunity.usand celebrate this October for a whole month full of events including festivals, exhibitions, workshops, art trails, open studios and much more.
Friends and yarn lovers! We are excited to host the second installment of unravel here at Farnham Maltings, where we celebrate all things yarn making, from knitting and crochet to spinning and weaving.
Visitors will recognise leading names from the knitting fraternity and have the chance to discover new emerging hand dyers and designers.
However you celebrate yarn, we hope you enjoy this autumn’s unravel festival as much as we’ve enjoyed putting it together. We look forward to welcoming you!
As an unravel first, we are excited to host a theatre show from award-winning writer-actor Sophie Ablett as she delivers a poignantly relevant solo piece: ‘She Seeks Out Wool’. The production is a combination of spoken word and giant knitting, telling the story of the relatives lost in a Jewish family’s journey from Praszka to Liverpool.
John Arbon Textiles is kindly sponsoring all in-person workshops by providing yarn for those classes. Some workshop highlights include; Shetland Lace, Tapestry Crochet, Embroidery, Colour Mixology and Sock Knitting. Garthenor Organic are once again on board to sponsor the talk series (all talks are free to attend).
