festival of crafts programme
Sat 14 & Sun 15 October 2023
Discover and celebrate leading contemporary makers and designers.
Welcome to festival of crafts 2023. We’re delighted that you are joining us for Farnham Maltings’ longest running craft event. Now celebrating its 27th year, festival of crafts is established as one of the UK’s leading independent contemporary craft shows.
At the heart of the festival is our curated marketplace where you will find a showcase of some of the best independent and talented makers and designers offering handmade crafts. Talk directly with the makers and discover great design as well as learn about the skill of making.
This year’s festival champions over 85 emerging and established craftspeople specialising in everything from textiles, glass, leather, ceramics, jewellery, furniture, lighting, and print – with something for every taste and budget.
As a celebration of craft, the complimentary programme of expert-led bookable workshops and participatory activities offer an accessible experience. Join in and explore your inner creativity in a relaxed environment where there is something for everyone.
Take your time and enjoy exploring the historic Maltings’ buildings where there is something to discover around every corner.
We look forward to welcoming you!
Jo, Madeleine & Caroline The Craft TeamFarnham was granted World Craft Town status in June 2020 by the World Craft Council following a successful application by Farnham Maltings and Farnham Town Council. The award is in recognition of the special role that craft plays in our community.

Riverside Exhibition
Until 31 October
In celebration of Farnham Craft Month, enjoy our collaborative exhibition of artwork from talented local painters Hannah Wildman, Venetia Morris and Sarah Cox.
This annual award is selected by our craft town partners the New Ashgate Gallery. One lucky maker at festival of crafts is chosen to be the recipient of the New Ashgate Gallery Award.
The winner is invited to exhibit at the gallery the following year during October Craft Month.
Following your visit to the festival, pop over to the New Ashgate Gallery to see last year’s winner, Wendy Penrose. Her unique jewellery designs are inspired by her love of nature, resulting in a contemporary fusion of strong organic forms and rich texture, crafted in a combination of silver and gold.
There are over 85 exhibitors spread across seven rooms throughout the whole building so take time to explore and make sure you don’t miss anything.
Each item is handmade by the maker selling them and is not available on the high street. Enjoy meeting and buying directly from the maker and learn about the craftsmanship involved in making their collections.
