WELCOME

welcome It’s important for buildings to say something about who we are, so I’m thrilled to say we have finally installed a lift for the stage in the Great Hall, making every part of these buildings accessible – we have also replaced the lift to the East Wing studios. This is a large and complicated set of buildings to navigate but it felt important that we are as open and public a building as possible. Which is why we have put energy into our performance project ‘Dance in the Meadow’, why we are running a programme of arts activities for 200 young carers and why we host ‘Singing for the Mind’ for people with dementia, why we are building our theatre and performance programme, supporting more community and voluntary groups and running participatory projects that celebrate age. Why are we doing all of these things? We think that, more than just caring for these buildings – important though they are – our purpose is to contribute to the quality of life of all the people of the town. We delight in finding new ways to connect with new people. Should you have an idea or an ambition then come and let us know. And thank you to every single person who contributes to making all these things happen. Have a wonderful summer! Gavin Stride Director
