Whomever said politics and fashion fail to intersect was terribly mistaken. In 2018, clothing and government go hand in hand. With clothes, one can wield veritable power. After all, Twain did say, clothes make the (wo)man.

“My Favorite Trends Right Now…” My favorite trend right now is a mix of a few different styles. Clothing wise, I am loving the stars print. I think it's such a different and cool style. I have bought some shirts with the stars print and I am so excited to wear them when I go out and when it gets warmer. I love star print because it has that vintage feel to it, while still being new and unique and different than what’s usually worn. I think it makes a big statement, while still being fun and exciting. I’ve thought about how I’m going to include the print in my style and I think matching a star print shirt with a denim skirt or jeans is a perfect combo and can be dressed up or down depending on the shoes and jewelry you wear, but either way it will make a statement. Stars have become so popular whether it be a print on clothes, star jewelry, or embroidery on shoes; I have been loving it all. I recently just bought these gold star dangling earrings and I have been wearing them as much as I can because they are so cute and give any outfit a unique look. Some of my favorite star pieces are shoes, jeans, or denim jackets with star embroidery, shirts with star print, and star jewelry, especially earrings. I am really loving the jewelry trends right now as well, especially statement gold hoop earrings. I have a few different types of gold hoop earrings, some big and some mid-size. I have been wearing them so much. Whether it be with a casual outfit or a really fancy outfit they work

perfectly, always making a statement. If I am going to a dinner in the city they go perfect with a simple dress or jeans and a nice shirt. They are also a perfect addition to a going out outfit if you need to spice it up a bit. My favorite is to wear them with an all-black outfit because the gold stands out and gives a unique touch. Hoops could honestly go with any outfit and make a statement from the most plain and simple outfit to the most elegant and intricate outfit. On the topic of jewelry, I also really love stackable rings, especially in bright colors like turquoise and different shades of blue. I like to wear a lot of rings at the same time and stack them at different levels on my fingers. I think it's such a unique look and is the perfect addition to a simple outfit. Rings are a part of my wardrobe that I can’t live without and I wear my turquoise rings every day, wherever I go. Free People, Brandy Melville, and Urban Outfitters all have really cute stackable rings in all different assortments and colors if you want to get on board with this trend. I love adding turquoise to my wardrobe, especially when it comes to jewelry. I have always loved the color blue, but turquoise is so much more unique and different. It’s fun and bright and can add a pop to any outfit. It can be made dressy, but also really fun and casual. -Hayley Rieman

I.AM.GIA. the online fashion label that you need to know about now, if you don’t already By Jada Scacco

When going to the mall or to Newbury Street seems like the same-old, same-old, online shopping can be your best friend. Take the new onlineonly fashion label, I.AM.GIA., for example: an Australia-born brand that’s been churning out fresh styles every month for the past nine. Even though it’s only been in business for less than a year, I.AM.GIA. has got the fashion world hooked. Between their staples like the Cobain Pant — which have been spotted worn in multiple colors by the likes of Bella Hadid and Kourtney Kardashian — and new pieces that seem to go out of stock nearly as soon as they come off preorder, the website consistently carries tons of uber-trendy items that would spice up a wardrobe better than anything from the mall really could. While playing with the moment’s fabrics, patterns, and textures, such as plaid, mesh, and faux-shearling, the brand has also brought new ones into the spotlight, like faux-leather. The collection spans from day-wear to night-wear, with many of its pieces

being able to be easily styled for any time of day. It ranges from tracksuits that can be dressed up, to sparkling mini-skirts that can be dressed down. While including dashes of neon green or baby pink every now and again, the brand heavily focuses in on neutrals (black and tan) and bold true red. I.AM.GIA’s range combines trends that have been around since last season, such as tube tops and joggers, with newer ones like over-sized cargo pants with chains and plastic belt buckles. The It runway models, celebrities, and Instagram stars have latched onto the brand, giving it enough publicity that it really doesn’t even need to advertise. While some street style icons like Selena Gomez and Victoria Secret Angel Stella Maxwell have been photographed in the brand a couple of times, Kaia Gerber (Cindy Crawford’s daughter and supermodel of the moment) seems

to have her closet fully stocked with I.AM.GIA. This fast-paced, contemporary, international brand offers many fashion enthusiasts a kind of unique opportunity to buy exactly what their favorite fashion icon is wearing; the clothes are relatively Madison Beer in the Sabik Crop affordable — all priced less than $200, even the coats — compared to other high-end and often unattainable labels that are usually donned by most top style influencers. The question remains however: Who exactly is Gia? It’s assumed that the name is in reference to the original supermodel, Gia Carangi. However, according to the I.AM.GIA website, “you’ll never know”. RED ALERT by Caroline Lee

As a 22-year-old New Yorker who has yet to get past her teenage angst, my go to color is black. When I want to be colorful, I wear white, beige or grey. And when I’m in a really special mood, I might even throw on a pair of blue jeans. But this season, I started wearing a color that, until recently, I thought only belonged on Spiderman, Santa Claus, and maybe Ariana Grande back when she still played sweet, innocent Kat on Victorious (before she went all high ponytail diva on us). The color red has disturbed the uniformity of neutral tones that has long been characteristic of my wardrobe. And the fiery color has given me a small reprieve from the endless dreariness of dark and frigid February days. Whether maroon, crimson, raspberry or scarlet, red brings a certain sense of power, passion, and energy to what would otherwise be a slightly bleaker outfit. Style icons, models, celebrities, and everyday individuals everywhere are making statements, sporting boots, jackets, dresses, and pants in all different shades of red.

Red isn’t just hot, it’s fierce. And fierce is what we need to be right now in a country that has been suffering from political turmoil, school shootings, and various other accounts of social injustices. From the bonnet rouges of the French Revolution to the red stripes of the American flag that stand for valor and hardiness, red is a color of great might that has the ability to spark up strength and courage within people. !

When I upgraded my bordeaux, suede clinger boots over my black leather booties as my favorite shoe this winter, I was challenging myself to be bolder and more confident. To be daring in voicing my opinions in class, to be adventurous as I explore job opportunities and potential career paths, and most of all, to have the courage to fight for what I believe to be right and pursue meaning over extrinsic rewards in all that I do. So trade in your black leggings for a pair of red pants, wear a red scarf or a full-on red jumpsuit, and jar yourself out of the humdrum, routine lives we so often find ourselves complacent living.
