ALL ABOUT THAT FRINGE A Trend Concept

The New Cheetah Girls A trend review by Jada Scacco

Cheetah and leopard prints have a reputation as a cheesy, costume-y concept, but this past year, the daring pattern has been creeping onto the fashion scene, earning its place as a statement look and staple in any current trendsetter’s closet. Celebrity style icons, instagram influencers, and fashion bloggers have been rocking leopard print year-round. The trend has proven to slay in any context — dressy or casual, day to night. Leopard print pants, shoes, bags, scarves, tops, sneakers, and dresses have become increasingly popular, recently, showing the pattern’s versatility across outfits and climates. By far the most well-known manifestation of the print, of course, is the leopard print coat. While any form of leopard print is a serious fashion statement in and of itself because of its bold nature, the leopard coat is easily the most iconic. The soft, furry texture that almost always accompanies the garment is super luxurious while also being fun. The utility of a leopard print coat goes beyond cold weather, too: It looks just as perfect over a minidress and sneakers as it does over jeans, a long-sleeve, and boots. A leopard print piece, whether it be a coat or a pair of booties

can instantly dress up an otherwise completely boring outfit. It has the potential to transform your look from cute but safe to memorable and chic. The print’s black, tan, and brown color palette perfectly compliments neutral and mono-chromatic outfits, adding just the right amount of spice without including any color at all. The leopard print trend embodies the spunky and just-a-little “extra” fashion moment that we’ve found ourselves in. I never even considered leopard print as a viable clothing or accessory print option for myself beyond a safari-themed party or a Cheetah Girls group Halloween costume. But then, this winter I found myself eager to try out the leopard trend and ended up loving it, making my coat one of my favorite pieces. Leopard print isn’t just for the Jenner sisters — it’s wearability and beautiful aesthetic are undeniable, and its ability to up your style-game is worthy of adding it to your wardrobe wishlist ASAP.

The Latest Throwback Look

Layered Necklaces by Caroline Lee

As March comes to a close and the frosty bite of winter days give way to the pleasant warmth of spring air, I’m turning in my turtlenecks and scarves and finally exposing my neck to the sunlight. With nothing shielding my neck anymore, I’m pulling out my necklaces to add a little sparkle and life to my look. This season, one necklace isn’t enough. Two isn’t enough. Three is probably enough, but four or five are definitely okay too. The 90’s inspired black chokers that had been storming the fashion scene these last couple years are out and delicately-layered golden necklaces are in. The art of layering necklaces is pretty simple, but it can be tricky. You want the necklaces to spice up your outfit while also making sure you’re not swallowed up by a heaping pile of gold chains dragging down your neck. The key to achieving that effortless and delicate look is to mix up your chains to include thin, barely-there chokers and longer, dangling necklaces with pendants and charms. Too much of one kind may overwhelm your neck. The good news is that many designers and jewelers sell sets of tiered necklaces that are already connected to each other, so you don’t have to put in much work. But on the downside, that doesn’t leave much room for creativity. Finding the perfect necklaces to make the combination that’s just right may take some time, but it’s worth it. Once you find the perfect set of necklaces, it can style up any boring tshirt. Start by finding a piece you really like and then select your next necklaces to compliment your center piece. You can keep it as simple as you want or you can pile them on— just as long as they work together. Look to fashion influences like Chiara Ferragni, an Italian fashion icon and business mogul, or Kendall Jenner for inspiration when looking to assemble your collection. Layered necklaces are versatile, hard to mess up, and a great way to showcase your personal style. Just make sure to have an organized system for storing your necklaces because you don’t want to have a tangled mess on your hands.
