We now question everything we do and the effect this has on the environment and all our staff have embraced all these changes - big and small. We are so lucky to work in such creative learning environments and as a teaching establishment which sees over 10,000 young people and adults come through our doors, we feel it is our duty to educate those on the importance of looking after the very waters we use on a daily basis. It is ours to enjoy but also ours to protect. Following an amazing 2019 season, we reviewed all our products and I really hope that you enjoy the improvements we have made. Our instructor training programmes have become more flexible, which we hope will fit better into people’s busy lives, in the same way as offering shorter learn to sail courses. We have added some new and exciting changes to our summer family activity holidays in France, with the option to include surf lessons into the programme this year. For our schools and groups, we have also looked at their trips and have made some great changes to their programmes for 2020.
Watersports training & holidays
Our Education programme has expanded and as well as our very popular BTEC Level 3 Sport (Outdoor Adventure) course, we have introduced a Level 2 Diploma Sport (Outdoor Adventure), as well as an Outdoor Activity Instructor Apprenticeship Programme. It is so rewarding to watch these young people develop from school leavers to confident young adults, who are so enthusiastic about working in the Watersports and Outdoor Industry. We hope our brochure will give you an insight into all we have to offer at our centres both in the UK and France. Whether you are new to the world of Watersports, or an experienced sailor looking to pass your knowledge onto others as an instructor, we are sure we have courses or activities for you, your family or as a group leader, to learn, improve or perfect your skills on the water! So, take a look at all the exciting opportunities we have on offer, and I and all the fantastic team at Rockley look forward to seeing you at one of our centres very soon! Fabulous Locations
Poole, Dorset
South West France
Rockley Point, Poole, Dorset is where it all started in 1976 and remains our flagship centre. It is absolutely the perfect place for you to learn to sail, windsurf and powerboat and for us to teach you! Poole Harbour offers safe, idyllic conditions on the water and with our youth residential holidays a secure, happy setting for your children to experience a trip away from home as well as the challenges of tidal waters for children and adults, beginners and experienced sailors alike. Our Poole Park centre is based on the UK’s largest inland saltwater lake. With quick access to the sheltered, shallow water, this centre is ideal for young children, beginners and for anyone wanting to get on the water in a safe environment.
The largely unspoilt region of Landes, France has enabled us to pick the three perfect locations for our Family Holidays and our School and Group activity weeks. Le Lac Mimizan, La Rive and AzuRivage, where our family holidays are based, are all on large, beautiful fresh water lakes amongst breath taking forests and short distances of stunning surf beaches and traditional French culture. Our large, safe watersports areas and the warmth of the lakes make these centres ideal for all abilities.

Watersports training & holidays
Life is better on the water Why an RYA Course? The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is the National Governing Body for sailing, windsurfing and powerboating and is generally considered to provide the benchmark for watersports training standards globally. RYA recognised clubs and centres are inspected and approved by an independent assessor as working to the highest standards for safety, learning and enjoyment for the students of all of their programmes, so this certainly gives peace of mind when entrusting loved ones to a new activity and environment. RYA training is delivered around the world so if you always look for the badge you can be reassured that instruction is consistent and moving from one RYA venue to another shouldn’t result in having to learn everything again from a different syllabus or training style.

For those of you who have spent part or all of the week working on their advanced modules, it's a great way to test your skills in our regatta, sail a catamaran or try sailing a different dinghy while for the younger ones, there's the opportunity to have a go at kayaking or paddleboarding or be taken out for a blast on a catamaran!
Special 5 day price; book 2 x course modules and the regatta day with accommodation - £515 Our 2 day sailing courses allow you to work on and achieve as much of the selected RYA module as possible, however the RYA scheme does require you to practice as much as you can between modules in order for you to attain the next stage.
Sailing for under 8's We also offer 2 day sailing courses for enthusiastic six and seven year olds who are keen to get on the water and give it a go. Based on a lake at our Poole Park centre, it offers a safe environment for youngsters to learn. With activity sessions both morning and afternoon, led by our instructors or as ‘free sail’, you can pick and choose to be busy all day every day through the week, or if you want some down time, chilling by the pool with a good book or having a coffee at one of the local cafes sometimes, you can do that too! Every Saturday we all have fun on the water with our regattas which are accessible to all ages and abilities. Take part as families or take on your children, you never know they might beat you! Not competitive? Don’t worry you can still enjoy being on the water sailing, kayaking, windsurfing or paddleboarding and just enjoy the ambiance of the lake putting into practice the skills you have learned through the week!

Poole Park
Holiday Camps, Birthday Parties, Weekend Clubs, School Events, Taster Sessions & much more!
Poole Park Lake, located in the heart of Poole, is ideally placed to offer so much to local residents, schools and groups in the Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch conurbation. With easy access to the water our ever-popular holiday camps, Saturday children’s clubs, birthday parties, taster sessions and hire facility enable everyone to have fun on the water. Taster sessions and hire are available at weekends through the season and every day in school holidays. We also offer RYA Stage 1 and 2 sailing courses for children aged 6 -7 years old during the May half term and through the school summer holidays. We accept childcare vouchers for all our children’s activities at Poole Park.
Weekdays in term time sees the centre at Poole Park filled with local primary and secondary school pupils taking part in a whole range of activities outside the classroom in a safe environment. Activities include sailing, kayaking, windsurfing and stand up paddle-boarding, some challenging activities that may be new to them, whilst developing their confidence on the water. Poole Park is also a great location for various events including the Dorset School Games offering a chance for students to compete against other schools in sailing and the ‘Can Do Festival’ which is a fun and inclusive day of watersports for pupils with SEN requirements. Both events are FREE to schools, with the aim of increasing watersports participation and a competitive spirit within schools.

" “Hands down 100% the best trip we have run
in seven years. The Rockley staff were amazing, their enthusiasm infectious and great to see all the kids enjoying life away from technology. Staff all enjoyed learning new skills on the water” Woodhouse Grove School
All Hallows Catholic School in Surrey has been organising their school residential trips with us for 15 years. After their trip with us this summer we received this letter from trip organisor Rob Antrobus A huge thank you to you all for making the trip so enjoyable for students and staff. These letters are getting harder to write as I seem to say the same each year! So here goes ....... Thank you Jack for all your hard work behind the scenes, the endless emails, the chasing of details and money from me and all the telephone conversations to make sure everything was in place. Also for being understanding to our needs and sorting any wish lists that I had out! Thank you to all the staff at La Rive who were great with the students. They were all brilliant and dare I say, the best year yet. All were proactive, cohesive and enthusiastic and made sure we were looked after and catered for. Last year I said “I think this may be the first year I haven’t given any constructive criticism! Clearly Rockley is getting better and to do that is hard year in year out.” Clearly this greatness is becoming habit so long may it continue! All in all the students had a great trip, the weather was great, food was great, staff were great and my staff had a great time! We really should do it again next year!!! Thank you all once again, and I look forward to catching up with you all in the near future. Yours sincerely, Robert Antrobus Trip Organiser

Maria Carroll - Sibling Worker
Our Company Charity - Julia's House! Julia’s House is not a typical children’s hospice. They give practical and emotional support for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition and their families, providing frequent and regular support in their own homes, in the community or at their hospices based in Dorset and Wiltshire. Our long-term support for this amazing charity is now such an essential part of Rockley life we consider it a privilege to have such an association with them! Our staff who take part in marathons, half marathons, triathlons, and cycling events have Julia’s House to thank for their inspiration and high levels of fitness! Throughout the year Julia’s House also offers opportunities for the brothers and sisters of the children under their care. We work closely with Maria Carroll, a sibling worker for Julia’s House, offering residential watersports weekends twice a year for their siblings. Maria said ‘These events with all the
siblings make such a difference to them and their families and I cannot tell you how highly our relationship with Rockley is valued.’ One sibling who has attended one of our residential weekends at Rockley Point said ‘When we have sibling get togethers it’s really fun because we get to make friends and have new experiences. It’s great just to be together because we are all going through the same thing.’ Want to find out more about this wonderful charity, take a look at their website - www.juliashouse.org We look forward to our continued support for Julia’s House for many years to come! www.rockley.org
