Watersports training & activity trips
ell there is no denying that the past 18 months have been challenging for everyone - individuals and businesses alike, but with that comes perspective, resilience, an ability to adapt and a real appreciation of people - most notably our incredible staff and our wonderful customers.
Despite Government restrictions forcing a reduced capacity this year, the summer has seen an unprecedented demand for our courses at Rockley Point. In my 18 years at Rockley, this has probably been our busiest summer ever, with the most amount of people learning to sail on record - a huge positive to come out of everyone staying in the UK this summer, and a wonderful sight from my office window! Amongst all of the issues of covid, we have been busy behind the scenes growing the business, and the big news for 2021 was the opening of a new 96 acre centre set in the heart of the Purbecks, which offers school and group residential activity trips. It has been truly incredible to see young people once again, enjoying adventurous activities and flourishing away from home. Our education programmes grow from strength to strength with a new traineeship programme being added to our ever-popular Level 3 Extended Diploma, Level 2 Diploma courses and Apprenticeship programme. We are extremely excited about 2022 - welcoming you back on the water and striving to provide the best experience to everyone who chooses Rockley. Once again, a heartfelt thank you for your continued support. I really hope you enjoy reading our brochure and we look forward to seeing you again soon at our centres. Pip Woods, MD

Life is Better on the Water Why an RYA Course? The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is the National Governing Body for sailing, windsurfing and powerboating and is generally considered to provide the benchmark for watersports training standards globally. RYA recognised clubs and centres are inspected and approved by an independent assessor as working to the highest standards for safety, learning and enjoyment for the students of all of their programmes, so this certainly gives peace of mind when entrusting loved ones to a new activity and environment. RYA training is delivered around the world so if you always look for the badge you can be reassured that instruction is consistent and moving from one RYA venue to another shouldn’t result in having to learn everything again from a different syllabus or training style.
RYA Sailing Courses & Training Rockley is synonymous with sailing expertise and training. All our courses follow the RYA schemes allowing you to gain the much recognised RYA qualifications and develop your sailing skills, but they also offer much more than that - sailing is a great sport to get involved in, it’s fun, exciting, challenging and exhilarating at the same time.
Sailing - 2-Day Courses - Youth & Adult At Rockley we offer the whole spectrum of RYA courses taking you from the beginner module RYA Stage / Level 1 through to the advanced sailing modules of RYA Sailing with Spinnakers and RYA Performance Sailing. Based on a lake at our Poole Park centre, it offers a safe environment for youngsters to learn. While still following the RYA scheme, youngsters will also grow in confidence and hopefully develop a love for the sport which will see them sailing for years to come.
Stage 1: 2 days Mon -Tue
(Age 6 & 7 years)
Stage 2: 2 days Wed - Thu (Age 7 years)
Offered during May half term & the summer holidays Our 2 day sailing courses allow you to work on and achieve as much of the selected RYA module as possible, however the RYA scheme does require you to practice as much as you can between modules in order for you to attain the next stage.

Our staff who take part in marathons, half marathons,
triathlons, and cycling events have Julia’s House to thank for their inspiration and high levels of fitness! Throughout the year Julia’s House also offers opportunities for the brothers and sisters of the children under their care. We work closely with Maria Carroll, a sibling worker for Julia’s House, offering residential watersports weekends twice a year for their siblings. One sibling who has attended one of our residential weekends at Rockley Point said: “When we have sibling get togethers it’s
really fun because we get to make friends and have new experiences. It’s great just to be together because we are all going through the same thing.”
Want to find out more about this wonderful charity? Take a look at their website www.juliashouse.org
“These events with all the siblings make such a difference to themand their families and I cannot tell you how highly our relationship with Rockley is valued.” Maria Carroll
Our Environmental Pledge At Rockley we are very passionate about doing our bit to protect our environment and we are dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint. Over the past few years we have taken small and big steps to change how we operate across all our centres. These have included: • • • •
No single use plastics Regular beach cleans Changing the way we run our sessions in order to reduce the use of our powerboats and therefore fuel Educating both our staff and the young people who come and trips with us as to the importance of protecting our oceans and marine life
“We love the waters we use and we have a responsibility to protect them, and encourage others to do the same.” Pip Woods, MD www.rockley.org
