Master the COLOR WHEEL! As an Independent Beauty Consultant, you will always have customers ask you “What colors will look best on me?” That’s where the color wheel comes in. The color wheel can help you identify complementary colors, warm colors and cool colors. This is just one more resource to help you stay Color Confident!

PRIMARY COLORS: red, yellow, blue These are the three colors that cannot be formed by combining or mixing other colors. They can be combined to create every other color on the spectrum.

SECONDARY COLORS: orange, green, purple

red

Colors that are created by mixing two primary colors. range (red + yellow) •o • green (blue + yellow) • purple (blue + red)

TERTIARY COLORS: combinations Colors that are a combination of primary and secondary colors. There are six tertiary colors: • red–purple • red–orange • yellow–orange • yellow–green • blue–green • blue–purple

COMPLEMENTARY COLORS: opposites Pairs of colors that are found opposite each other on the color wheel. These create a high contrast when next to each other, such as red next to green, blue next to orange or purple next to yellow.

WARM AND COOL COLORS: temperatures For example:

The color wheel can also be divided into warm and cool colors. Warm colors are red, yellow and orange. Cool colors are blue, green and purple.

A warm green would be a yellowish green. A cool green would be more bluish.
