People who lose their home and access to self-care may lose their self-esteem to interact with other people, especially due to stereotypes within the community. Rumah Singgah aims to enhance the interaction among the community by giving them a platform to interact with each other while also providing basic needs such as food, shelter and hygiene care.

An elevated Kampung raised on stilts creates a shaded functional space for communal activities underneath the structure, as well as responding to the climate such as providing optimum natural lighting and ventilation. Kampung also consists of families with multiple generations living under one roof.

Jalan Ong Tiang Swee

Jalan Ong Tiang Swee is known for the different types of non- profit organisations built in the area. People attending the organisations including volunteers frequents the area for activities, making it lively during the day. However, Jalan Ong Tiang Swee is inactive at night. This has risen up some issues regarding safety and crime rates. In order to tackle the issues, the project aims to promote social interaction between the people in the community and also liven up the area especially at night to ensure safety.

Taking into consideration the urban context of the city of Kuching, Buloh is a Rhythm Artisan Centre based on the traditional instrument Pratuokng. Modernized to adapt to the current developments while maintaining the traditional essence of the instrument, the co-existence of modern and traditional are reflected in the materials and space arrangement of the building.
