PROJECT 1

Urban Infill: Rhythm Streetscape In a group of 5 to 6, students are required to design a busking area based on their chosen music genre within an urban context. This project is for students to enable the understanding of a site of a local urban context and its relationship towards space and community. The project should be able to enhance the social interaction between the community while practicing social distancing and adhering to the SOP for the current Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.

Nostalgia can be induced in different ways including taste, smell and especially music. From our Rhythm Streetscape, we want to be able to induce a sense of nostalgia in the visitors through the ambience of the place.

Design Development

The concept of split comes from tension in the bamboo string of the pratuokng.

In coming up with the floor plan, the spaces are split into two different directions. However, the floor space is insufficient.

More spaces are added. Split from the main lobby, branches out from the lobby and hallway.

IThe floor plan shows a clear 'spine' of the building from where the spaces branches out, emphasizing the concept Split.

Based on the concept 'Split', the circulation branches out from the entrance to the other spaces.
