Fragile place, virtual spaces
SALINE CASA INDIVIDUAL - B.Sc 2011 This project has challenged us to design a virtual space in a fragile place. It was located in Langkawi island with the biggest attractions of mangrove forest. It is known as a tidal forest; a forest growing in the inter-tidal zone between average sea level and high tide mark. Mangrove has a very unique ecological system, it also helps to protect the ocean from silt and sediment. The existence has naturally created a formation of salt pond from a former bays. The ecological to endure with a salty environment were the inspiration for this project. The idea were to bring in a spa treatment with the formation of natural salt pond. Thus, Saline Casa is a Spa Center which served their customer with the natural ambience of mangrove forest. Mangrove act as an instrument in the formation of salt ponds which also help protect the ocean from silt and sediment.

Affordable Housing, Putrajaya
XANTHIUM PARK INDIVIDUAL - B.Sc 2012
In collaboration with Putrajaya Holding, this project responds to the shortage of affordable housing scheme in Putrajaya. Specifically, Precinct 18 in Putrajaya was discovered to be detached from a padestrian touch. Even though this precinct was considered as a residential spots, most of the houses and apartments does not interact between one another. Thus, it proposed a commercial area as the centre of interaction and strengthen the neighbourhood ambience. Conceptual planning

Affordable housing, Selangor
GREENside-OUT Group - B.Sc 2012 In responds to the competition for Selangor affordable housing, it proposed a green alternative programme for a healthy living. There is an elevated green landscape as a main features of this project. It gives new experience for the resident to enjoy the elevated green landscape from the ground level to the housing block with different level and scale. This features also encourage the existent of garden and recreation's facilities to the optimum space usage. A specific estimated cost, green strategy and method of construction has been proposed thoroughly to complete the competition's requirement.

A thousand-year home
KG Baru Regeneration INDIVIDUAL - M.Arch 2013 This project is part of D3 housing competition 2014 with a theme of 'a thousand-year home'. My proposed site was in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This area is currently facing overlapping ownership and it is leading towards a slum area. My design idea was based on flexibility of a Traditional Malay House and Egyptian house. The typology is proposed which serve a flexible and scalable space fitting all types of people. A basic space is (7.5mX5m) per area with maximum volume of four floors. The construction was resolved using the concept of traditional Malay house's jointing. This encourages man-power construction in applying the flexibility concept of this design.

BIOSPHERIC Foundation Group - M.Arch 2013 As continuation of a thousand-year home, this is another project in collaboration with Biospheric foundation. Biospheric Foundation is a platform to develop research, design and enterprise through a prism of new ecological & technological urban culture. We have less than 10 days to produce a simple design concept to be used for the Biospheric foundation. Initially, the aim is to produce concepts for a residential building next to the Biospheric Foundation headquarters. Part of the requirement is to embody a positive ecological approach to the design, construction, operation and use of a building(s). It consists of 10-15 habitational units. The concept consider the main criteria for the passivhaus as we try to regenerate our own source of electricity and increase the performance of the building. The overall facade that envolopes the whole building is implemented with an adjustable facade to be open or close when needed. This can be used to increase the flexibility in controling the building performance.

ECOHAUS Group - M.Arch 2014 The housing competitions engages a groups of four student with a professional collaborator; Ian McHugh (Green Triangle). This project was directed by the architect based on the competition brief, organised by The British Homes Awards. In partnership with the Passivhaus Trust, Kingspan Insulation, the AJ and Habitat First Group, this year's Awards' competition (2014) for "EcoHaus" challenges UK architects to design an aspirational home to Passivhaus standards for a waterside site. The design outcome was expected to offer a healthy environment for the occupants which can enhance the community living environment. With the requirement to improve the indoor air quality and heat recovery, the Passivhaus Planning Package (PHPP) are required to illustrate efficiency of the energy usage which comply with the Passivhaus standard.

NEGLECTED SPACE INDIVIDUAL - M.Arch 2015
My initial design involved a series of master plan strategies carried through the housing and end-up with a nursing care home which designed to be part of the neighborhood area. Having dependent and independent typology for nursing home fits all sort of background, even with a dementia concern. The new master plan layout should clearly clarify the residential territory and public realm. This project has taken a real issue on a Moston Pub Estate, Manchester. A thorough study on the spatial quality of the Estate have been done through a series of observation. Encountering the issue by addressing factors that affect the problem is part of methodology to prevent demolition. There are little changes on the existing housing blocks as this estate accommodated a social and affordable scheme. Anti-social behaviour, criminal damage and trespassing have been haunting the Moston Pub Estate for ages. There is no sense of natural surveillance guarding over this neighbourhood area. Neglected public space at Moston Pub Estate is a sign of spatial failure. It is a concern on the quality of physical environment as it could be a vital element for natural surveillance.

The new proposal has been worked out through the existing housing layout. Daily activities, shortcut route, and the physical environment of this estate were recorded as part of design consideration in proposing a new scheme. Thus, there are two housing block to be demolished and another five new blocks to be built.
Sheltered housing | Nursing Home As my design involved a series of master plan strategy carried through into housing, retirement block (currently named as Apperentice) is also designed to be part of this estate. A series of studies were done to develope a new scheme for nursing home.

Material housing | Nursing Home Material selection has been made based on the environmental and design strategies. Taking into consideration the lifespan of the building also part of the selection criteria. When the building is no longer needed or practical, the components can be taken apart and reused with little need for treatment or further processing. Straw bale normally will be covered with a lime rendered as their final finishing touch of the building. However this will cause a blend facade treatment as a whole. Thus different kind of facade panel has been test out to get a hierarchy of pattern.
Solar PV Solar Photovoltaic panel are being placed on the most beneficial south facing roof. This panel is used to generate electricity to power the whole property.
Larch The frame of the building is costructed from locally sourced larch Straw-Bale Construction The straw bales are taken from local supplier within 1.5 miles from the location. The straw forms the main insulator for the wall, keeping it warm and winter and cold for summer.

PLUG-IN Street Art Group - M.Arch 2013
Events programme run by Manchester School of Architecture (MSA) is the best platform for improving our management skill. This project required us in a group of three to organize a small event by our own. There are three of us who were responsible as main coordinator of the event. We have a few months ahead before the event for brainstorming and consult collaborators. Within two weeks, we managed to deliver the project with our main collaboration from Manchester Hulme Community Garden and Graffiti Artist, TJ Dolan. Responding to that year event brief - Anologies 2014, We decided to give such a big impact to the mancunian community based on the ideological stand of our atelier to grow your own plants.
