HO CHI MINH CITY SNAPS

HO CHI MINH CITY SNAPS What to photograph in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam? As a street photographer, I am not so much interested in the crazy, relentless sea of scooters on the road. There are plenty of people on the streets, as subjects, for sure. But they all seem to be idle: sitting on a tiny stool, or lying across a bike, or leaning on something, looking at their phones or watching the street traffic. To find a photographic opportunity, I also have to slow down. I have to carefully consider the angle of idle bodies, and find the funny or the poignant in the small details. I have to see them in relation to the well-worn environment, the signs, the shop displays, and their inseparable scooters. I have to notice the most minimal of the interaction, the lightest of touch. I am watching, observing. I am being watched, observed. The camera snaps.
