We have continued our series of messages on “He is More than Enough.” I have enjoyed preparing and delivering these messages from Paul’s epistle. I pray they have been helpful, encouraging, and challenging, and you have discovered application of the text each week. I have often said, “The hardest part of preaching is making the application of the text to our personal lives.” I look forward to the remainder of this precious and powerful book about JESUS! TWITTER, FACEBOOK, & OTHER MEDIA OUTLETS I wanted to share just a few personal thoughts I have about these two social media giants. I have had Facebook and Twitter accounts for a few years. I have used them mainly to keep up with people and see what is going on in their lives. I have noticed for a long time that people use both of them to simply give their unfiltered opinion of anything and everything. I have thought maybe a better name for Twitter is Bitter.
Him. Two verses of Scripture I want to leave you with are in Colossians 4 and in Psalm 19. Colossians 4:6 (NASB) “Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.” Psalm 19:14 (NASB) “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.” Let me paraphrase these verses. Colossians 4:6 (Paul's Paraphrase) “Let your Facebook posts, tweets, texts, Snapchat stories, and pictures be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.” Psalm 19:14 (Paul's Paraphrase)

CROSSINGS SUMMER CAMP FOR MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL June 11–16 In Christian circles, the idea of worship is often limited to music and singing on
Sunday morning. Worship, however, encompasses all of life, because humanity was created to worship God as our ultimate purpose. Therefore, worship is ultimately about a relationship with God. This is why it has been said, “Know your God and know yourself.” It is when we focus on God that we discover our true purpose and our true identity.

Grey and Ellen were also able to be in town during the trip! The team’s primary work took place on Saturday as they canvassed neighborhoods in the area surrounding the church building, distributing door hangers to approximately 1,000 homes and inviting them to Paramount's upcoming Good Friday and Easter services. The weather was frigid, but the team did wonderful, especially the children. On Sunday, the team attended Sunday School and worshipped with Paramount before heading back to Owensboro. The following 4 | Connect Magazine

Ryan and Hillary Overby: This was the first mission trip our family has ever been on. It allowed us to get out of our comfort zone. Taking part in the trip gave us a small introduction into mission work, but also gave us a spark to do something more in the future! The culture in the area we went to greatly differs from Paramount’s beliefs, but you can easily see how they have been working hard to promote the Christian faith in the area. In addition to these things, the brief amount of pre-trip work we did in Owensboro in preparation for the trip (canvassing an apartment complex on Hwy. 54) showed us how many local people do not have a church home.

Julie Dunn: Our family has been on a previous trip to work with Paramount. It is exciting to see God moving in other local churches and communities. It gives me an appreciation not only for how hard church plants work to reach their communities, but also the dependency they have on the Lord to grow His church and meet their needs. I had great joy seeing my husband lead the trip and witnessing our children literally run from door to door with their friends with invitations to attend Paramount Church. It was also such an honor to serve with other believers who love the Lord. Though the weekend
I would begin my summer adventure with Teen Missions. I trained for two weeks alongside strangers at a swampy “boot camp” designed to prepare everyone for a summer of primitive living (to include cold-water bucket bathing). Although other teams went to foreign countries, I felt called to minister to my fellow Americans before allowing myself to travel internationally. My group of 10 deployed to the rural lands and lakes of the Midwest. We spent most of the summer outdoors, laboring on various service projects, performing at churches and campgrounds, and sleeping in tents.

local elementary school. Columbus is dear to me because I lived there through most of my twenties and I have friends and family still there. Helping Paramount feels like giving back and caring for a city that I called home through my young adult years. Hopefully, the Easter service invitations that we shared encouraged one or more people to go to Paramount Church, or at least got them thinking about Jesus and his miraculous resurrection. Admittedly, I’m a bit of a baby when it comes to cold, but spending that day outside prayer walking and distributing door hangers was worth the chill. It provided time for me to reflect, fellowship with friends, help a sister church in my home state, and get some exercise! Serving alongside the Dunn and Overby kids made it extra fun too. Their enthusiasm was infectious! There’s no reason we can’t reach out to our Owensboro community in the same way with door hanger invitations and a smile (just in case the door opens). The next morning, I also enjoyed worshipping with my brother, my niece, baby Mav, our FBC team, and the Paramount Church family. Their congregation has really grown over the last three years, and it’s evident that God is working in that community. I’m thankful for a church that offers short-term mission trips, not only for teens and adults, but also for young families too.
At that time, Paramount was a freshly planted church and met for worship at a

ON MY MIND A GREAT EASTER CELEBRATION On April 1st, we celebrated Easter, Resurrection Sunday, and we had a wonderful time of celebrating the Risen Lord. It was unusual that Easter fell on April Fool's Day and the first Sunday of Spring Break. Nonetheless we had two 6 | Connect Magazine

Matthias was chosen to fill the void in the disciples. What came next was the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost in Acts 2. Peter preached a sermon where Scripture says 3000 were added to their number that day. I reflect on the humanity of Matthias and personal thoughts he must be having during this time. Was he overwhelmed? Did he feel honored? Did he have a specific role or did all twelve do the same tasks of discipleship, baptism, etc.? Acts 2:42 says, “And they [the new believers] devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and

the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” Matthias was a leader in all of this! I can relate to Matthias. I’m the new guy, the rookie, the new kid on the block. But there are two things I know for sure: 1. I am looking forward to serving a wonderful church which is made up of wonderful people alongside a team committed to the vision of making, maturing, and multiplying. 2. I am anticipating God to do something amazing through this church and its young people in the near future. Will it be Pentecost 2.0 and 3000 saved? Wouldn’t that be awesome!? I hope and pray that as we transition leadership, the mission of reaching our communities for Christ never changes. We have the Br-B-Q Festival coming up. We have summer camp where our students can see their identity in Christ around the corner. Buckle up! We are anticipating God to move! It is going to be an exciting time at First Baptist Owensboro! I’m just glad to be part of it!
