With the SQC Celebration coming quickly in January, I cannot remember a time when the future looked brighter for our fellowship. Matthew Henry says, “It is good to keep a count of our prayers that we may not unsay them in our practice.” May our prayers and our priorities rise out of a heart of love for Jesus Christ.

Building and Property

Sale! Sale!! Sale!!! The Building and Property Committee(BPC) is offering items from the Morning Glory building and excess items from the church. Proceeds will go to benefit the ministries of FBC, SA. At the church web site, www.fbcsa.org , click on the “SALE” link for the pictures and descriptions of the sale items. The BPC is offering these items to church members first. Look through the items and if you see something you like and submit your offers to glen@fbcsa.org. If you would like to offer more than the very low bargain price, that‟s great because all of the proceeds will go to the church. If you are not the first person to make an offer, your name will be kept as a “back-up” purchaser if the item is not paid for as specified below. You will receive an email confirmation of receipt of your offer and if you “won” the item. Items purchased must be paid within 48 hours by cash, check, or credit card (a 5% fee will be added). Sales tax will be added. Items purchased must be picked up by scheduled appointment. You must bring your own vehicle and help to load. The items not sold between now and November 6 will be available on Saturday November 6 (8:00 AM – NOON) when we open the doors to the general public at posted prices. The sale will continue on November 13 and 20. Each of the successive weeks the prices will be reduced. You can “buy it now” or wait until the sale and take the chance that the item you want will be there. Children’s Ministry

Children’s Bible Drill is coming up! If your child (grades 4-6) is interested in Bible Drill, please call the Children‟s Ministry Office so we‟ll have an idea of who may be interested. The only time to meet is Sunday mornings at 9 am. Children in grades 4-6 are invited and encouraged to participate in Bible Drill. Each child who participates in Bible Drill will: learn the names of the 66 books of the Bible in their proper order and be able to locate each within 10 seconds; memorize the 25 verses and their references printed on the current Bible Drill Card; and learn the names, references, and locations in the Bible of the 10 Key Passages printed on the current Bible Drill Card. If a child participates in Bible Drill for 3 years, he or she will learn 75 Bible verses, 30 Key Passages, and the names and sequence of the 66 books of the Bible! Are you interested in helping with Bible Drill? If so, please call the Children‟s Ministry office. Can you Join Us?? Periodically, the Children & Preschool Ministries coordinate an event for families to fellowship with each other. The next one scheduled is “Feast with the Beast” at the San Antonio Zoo on Saturday, November 13th from 10 to 11:30. We want to encourage you to come as a play group, Sunday School group or neighborhood group. Member or not, we want this to be time of meeting and getting to know one another in an entertaining and educational setting. Bring your friends and join us at the San Antonio Zoo this November 13 th at 10:00 am. Following our tour of the zoo, groups can picnic or have lunch at nearby restaurants if desired. Don’t forget your Zoo Passes!

Thanksgiving Family Fun Ideas: Here are a few truths about the First Thanksgiving: Pilgrims invited Squanto and Samoset to say thanks for teaching them how to grow food. They invited the local Wampanoag tribe‟s Chief Massasoit, hoping to negotiate land from him. They also invited their immediate families – unaware Indian families were so large! Sixty to 90 Indian men came, plus women and children. The Indians outnumbered Pilgrims 2 to 1 and the „feast‟ was inadequate. Chief Massasoit sent for more food. The Indian guests provided most of the food! Fun idea for this: Think big. Invite neighbors or lots of family to your Thanksgiving feast! They served turkey, venison, duck, geese, white fish, steamed mussels, cornmeal bread, nuts, beans, sweet potatoes, boiled „spinage‟ (spinach), corn, corn soup, succotash, squash, watercress, apples, cranberries, and fruit pies. Fun idea: Try this menu! To make their pumpkin pie: cut the top off of a pumpkin and pour honey and maple syrup inside. Bake in a fire‟s ashes. Serve warm and mushy. Fun: Eat extra pumpkin pie and be grateful that some things have changed.
