+ The National Road Safety Foundation is proud to partner with FCCLA The National Road Safety Foundation (NRSF) is a non-profit group that’s been promoting safe driving for nearly 60 years. We’ve got lots of great programs and resources to help talk about safe driving. We sponsor the Safe Rides-Save Lives PSA Challenge, offering a $3,500 prize to the FCCLA Chapter that submits the best idea for a public service announcement about safe driving. Opened now, deadline date is 3/1/21. This fall we are expanding our partnership to include support for a major initiative of FCCLA’s FACTS program -- the Teen Road Safety Assessment (Teen RSA). In the past, more than 1,000 FCCLA members in dozens of schools conducted Teen RSAs to identify potential dangers at intersections near their schools. Our sponsorship this academic year will expand the reach of the Teen RSA, engaging more youth traffic safety advocates to conduct assessments of school intersections and then advocate for infrastructure solutions to prevent deaths and injuries.

This audit was performed in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America (GAAP). Total assets increased by $937,410 to $6,487,813, led by a $946,735 increase in investments, as compared to August 31, 2018. Liabilities increased by $88,341 to $491,527, led by a $119,519 increased in accounts payable, as compared to August 31, 2018. This increase in accounts payable was due to changing of the fiscal year-end from August 31 to July 31, which resulted in an increase in expenses being accrued for the National Leadership Conference at the end of the new fiscal year.

Virtual Learning
Tips and Tricks for Virtual Learning and Leading COVID-19 has changed the way we live, lead, and learn. Not only has the coronavirus pandemic brought countless changes to our day-to-day lives, it has drastically affected society as a whole. Instead of learning in traditional classrooms, many students are now logging onto computers this school year. This sudden shift has challenged everyone to navigate a new normal filled with distance learning, remote working, social distancing, and mask mandates. During this unprecedented time, FCCLA remains committed to prioritizing the health, safety, and well-being of its members, advisers, and supporters, and is working diligently to provide helpful tools and resources to enhance this school year. Check out FCCLA’s five tips and tricks to successfully lead and learn “Beyond Measure” this year!
1. CREATE A ROUTINE
4. INVOLVE OTHERS
Find a schedule that works for you and stick to it. Designate a workspace with minimal distractions as this will provide structure and allow you to successfully focus on your assignments and activities. Make adjustments as needed and schedule breaks to avoid burnout.
Stay connected and continue to seek new opportunities and experiences. Involve others by working together to overcome challenges and celebrating accomplishments. Utilize social media and video conferencing platforms to keep in touch with old friends and network with new. Invite classmates to join the Ultimate Leadership Experience and participate in future virtual conferences as well as upcoming meetings and events.
2. SET GOALS Identify what you want to achieve and the steps you need to take to accomplish your goals. Write down your goals and tell others to make them feel more tangible. Create an action plan, formulate a timeline, and ask others for help when you need it. Don’t forget to celebrate after you meet your goal! Try expanding your goals to include health and fitness, school, career, financial, personal, and family goals as you work to improve all areas of your life.
3. MAINTAIN MOTIVATION Don’t become discouraged. Surround yourself with supportive people and remind yourself of your success. Keep a positive attitude by thinking self-affirming thoughts and creating a mental picture of the goal you are working toward. Remember to reward yourself and thank others along the way!
28 TEEN TIMES | Fall 2020
5. HAVE FUN Strive to make the most out of everything! Use your free time to pick up a new hobby, explore FCCLA’s four Career Pathways, volunteer, spend time with family or friends, or whatever else you’ve always wanted to do. Prioritizing having fun while learning and leading this school year through FCCLA!
