Environmental Policies Update on 2010 activities
Each hotel has a green team with representatives from all departments who coordinate activities and ensure all hotel team members are kept aware of our progress A full day training course was carried out in February with involvement from the Carbon Trust and our suppliers All eight hotels are currently awaiting grading for the Green Tourism Business Scheme which we hope to have completed by December 2010 We set ourselves a target to reduce energy , water and refuse consumption by 15% on the previous year which we monitor weekly We have produced a Responsible Visitor Charter for guests who would like to help us achieve our goals Each hotel has available to guests a “Concierge Green File� which includes information on public transport , local activities that can be gotten to by foot, public transport etc, information on cycle hire and routes etc We have replaced a number of boilers and air-conditioning units with those approved by the Carbon Trust/ECA scheme We have installed shower and tap aerators at two of our properties with a roll out program for the remaining six

We have installed water butts for watering the plants, cleaning pathways etc All our suppliers are now screened for their environmental credentials Our stationery is now printed on FSC accredited recycled paper We source our food locally wherever possible We have worked closely with our suppliers to reduce packaging We now use remanufactured ink cartridges which when empty are sent away to be reused We have a rollout program to place paper banks at the hotels which once collected is recycled to produce newspapers Our sites offer cycle storage We encourage all our suppliers to switch off their engines and not to idle
