Environmental Policies Update on 2011 activities

All eight hotels achieved accreditation with the Green Tourism Business scheme = 6 Gold Standard & 2 Silver. Introduced a “Green” award at our annual staff awards with the winner presented with a weekend away at Forest holidays – as these are also accredited by GTBS. Set targets to reduce energy/water by 10% on previous year and to continue to monitor weekly. Replaced an oil burning boiler at BEST WESTERN Llyndir Hall to more efficient carbon trust approved LPG. Continued to screen suppliers on their environmental credentials. Introduced email marketing as a means to minimise paper usage and postage. Investigated the potential of the benefits of solar power. This was rejected as the amount we could produce by the hotel was minimal. Major refurbishment to our public toilets at our Llyndir Hall site – sensor taps and flushes, LED lighting and ECA approved hand dryers.

2011

19 bathrooms refurbished, replacing taps with aerators, low flush toilets etc. The BEST WESTERN PREMIER Queen Hotel, Chester was a finalist in the Marketing Chester annual awards Sustainable Tourism category. Introduced glass bins at a number of sites. Continue to source and use local food suppliers.
