Many Council projects and programs would not be possible without the involvement of our wonderful volunteers. Volunteers help Council to create and maintain a vital link to our communities and are a very important resource in assisting to deliver a number of services.

If you have a few hours to spare and would like to help achieve some great things in your community, there are plenty of opportunities to become a volunteer, in the many different sectors of the Council.

COROWA VISITOR INFORMATION CENTRE

The Corowa Visitor Information Centre operates six days a week and staff are supported by a great team of volunteers who provide friendly, helpful services to visitors to the Council area and local residents. For more information contact the Corowa Visitor Information Centre on (02) 6033 3221.

ADVISORY COMMITTEES

Council currently converses with a range of advisory committees that provide Council with advice and recommendations to inform the decisions made by Council.

Federation Council’s advisory committees include: • Ageing Well Advisory Committee • Federation Disability Advisory Committee • Federation Arts and Cultural Advisory Committee • Federation Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) • Federation Youth Council, and • Miki City Advisory Committee.

VOLUNTEERING

COMMUNITY EVENT ASSISTANCE

Volunteers are essential in making Council’s events a success. Roles may include assisting with traffic management, parking, stage management, logistics, volunteer coordination and event assistance in the lead up or on the day. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY

The Friends of the Library is a community group that promote and support the Corowa Library Service. They raise money and volunteer their time throughout the year.

OTHER VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES

There is a range of volunteer opportunities available in the Federation Council area from assisting in an opportunity shop, helping distribute food to the vulnerable or running a gentle exercise class. As well as clubs and organisations you might like to join.

Council’s Ageing Well Resource and the Community Directory are a good place to start to look for organisations, clubs or businesses that you could approach to volunteer.

SECTION 355 COMMITTEES OF COUNCIL

Section 355 Committees are sub-committees of Council under Section 355 of the Local Government Act. The Federation Council has 19 committees made up of residents and user groups that help manage or advise on Council’s community halls, events, parks and reserves.
