ORIGAMItiles BREAKING SYMMETRY


The concept originated from the purpose of creating an architectural surface capable to articulate in the three dimension using origami folding techniques. The transition from paper to computer has been made​​ possible by parametric modeling tools such as Grasshopper, which allows us to simulate the behavior of folded paper. The base plate, inspired by Kawasaki Asymmetry Theorem, has been the starting point for the creation of a set of tiles where repetitions form a dynamic surface.
