Welcome Welcome to Niagara Falls, Ontario’s total vacation destination! We welcome you to a destination that is known around the world for its spectacular beauty, its strong industrial base, its world class wineries and its fabulous vacation attractions. You know it well but seldom have such a good reason to visit. The 2014 National Conference Organizing Committee and the Southern Golden Horseshoe Chapter have been anticipating this moment for 18 months. This year’s committee has active members from all of FEI Canada’s Chapters. Networking is about sharing experiences and we know that this gathering will be an experience to remember. Leadership is a role that you have to play every day when you have a financial position and your being here, now, is just one expression of your understanding of a leader’s duty. Technology is one of the ways we can be here and still be doing our jobs. The committee has endeavored to create informative sessions that will allow you to do this with new insight, even before you return to the normal routines next week. The state of the art facility will make this a comfortable and interactive experience. Leaders are able to find that balance between a dedicated focus on success of their enterprise and a strong desire for fun and pleasure with friends and colleagues. Niagara is an environment that has a world class reputation of combining business with pleasure. The social and networking opportunities we have planned bring out the best of this Ontario wine region. We hope that you take this opportunity to expand your leadership potential, build your professional network and increase your knowledge of the issues that challenge us in making Canada a better place for all. Thank you for your leadership!

DIVERSITY – WHEN TALENT RISES TO THE TOP EVERYONE WINS 10:00 am – 11:15 am Fallsview Jr. Ballroom, Scotiabank Conference Centre

Maureen Sabia, O.C., J.D. Chairman of Canadian Tire
Diversity is increasingly regarded as a business imperative in Canada and internationally. Many leaders have a top priority to become more diverse and inclusive workplaces so the most talented employees can contribute directly to their organization’s business goals. Canada is one of the world’s most ethnically diverse countries and is home to more than 200 distinct ethnic groups, yet visible minorities make up only 5% of senior management in large Canadian companies and less than 2% of executive management in the public sector. The current status of women in business is similar and representation of women on boards has remained at the 20% level for a number of years. Many organizations appear to have a wide untapped pool of talent at their disposal but still struggle to address diversity. Our expert panelists will share and discuss their views on how leading companies can/should embrace diversity to improve their performance.
