Achievements Work exhibited at the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, NYC, 2018 Shortlisted for 2017 RSUA Silver Medal for my thesis project ‘Digital Agora’ Nominated for the 2017 RIBA Presidents Medal Silver Medal
Profile I have extensive experience working on highly pressurized international and regional architectural competitions (several of which I have been part of the winning team). These compressed projects have gave me a broad understanding of how to design highly complicated, site specific and beautiful buildings, they have allowed me to express my flair for creating architectural imagery, something which I thoroughly enjoy. This interest has stemmed from my passion for fine art (specifically Italian renaissance paintings). I enjoying dissecting paintings into categories some of which include composition, colour palette, perspective/ depth and narrative, I try to use these same principals in my work. My passion for site specific buildings extended into my postgraduate education. I wrote my thesis on the subject of architectural identity. These explorations lead me to study the works of Louis Kahn, de Blacam and Meagher, Robbrecht en Daem, Jorn Utzon and Sigurd Lewerentz. My thesis project subsequently was shortlisted for the RSUA Silver Medal, RIBA Presidents Medals and I was invited to present my work at the 2018 All-Ireland Thesis Symposium. Each summer during my Undergraduate I lived in Toronto, Canada. There I worked on construction sites learning as much as I could about the construction process and detailing. I hoped that by doing this I would have practical knowledge of how a building is made. I have a passion for sport particularly playing Golf (11 handicap) and gaelic football. I played for Armagh senior football team for 3 years winning a national league; after suffering a broken leg in 2016 I couldn’t perform to the same standard. I play midfield for my local club St. Paul’s, Lurgan and captained them to an Armagh League and Championship double in 2014.
Experience Part 1 Hall McKnight, Belfast 2015-2017 Duties included assisting with conceptual projects and constructing the Yellow Pavilion for the London Festival of Architecture in 2015. I was also part of the architectural design team which won the Hill House and Mew Optic architectural competitions in 2016. During my time as a Part 1 in Hall McKnight I also worked on a masterplan for Colin Glen and a planning application for a social housing project in Derry.

During this period in my career I was part of the design team which won the international design competition for Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. Actively involved with drafting 2D drawings which formed part of the tender package for a convent in Wantage, England. I am currently working on a single storey residential dwelling where I am gaining valuable on site construction experience as well as contract administration experience. It was a great honour to work on Hall McKnight’s pavilion which formed part of the 2018 Venice Biennale under the title ‘Freespace’. I helped develop the initial idea for the pavilion as well as generating visuals which were presented to the curators Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara of Grafton Architects.
