Outside, the winter is quiet, with cold days melding into long, dark nights. The air is crisp with scents of snow, making us long for the sun’s warmth again. And yet, there is something bright, cozy, and heartening pushing back against the bleak, wintry frost... family, friends, and love wrapped in the joy of holidays.

If you are anything like me, your hands toil with gifts of colourful delight, knitting peace and goodwill into every stitch. Rich fibres soothe the soul, dispelling the bitter cold that lurks outdoors. I knit long hours, yarn draped over my lap, comforting my spirit in front of the fireplace, twinkling lights, and sweet aroma of baked goods. It is this very simple act of making, crafting for others, that reminds me of why I am here: to give.

OUR YARNS There is something impossibly alluring about hand-dyed yarns.

Everything from the vibrance to the subtle nuances in shade and hue capture the heart as well as the imagination.

Hand-dyed yarn has the feeling of being alive.

Ten years have passed since I dyed my first skein of yarn at my dining room table. Today, our yarns and fibres are hand-dyed at our studio in Vancouver, Canada by a team of passionate and skilled artisans.

Over the years, the things we collectively believe, practice, and value have converged and interwoven to become the fabric of “SweetGeorgia.”

For many, SweetGeorgia has become synonymous with vibrant, saturated colour and luxury yarn.

But for us, it’s about more than yarn.

We are driven to inspire, engage, and educate people in colourful and creative self-expression, bringing light into people’s lives.

HOLIDAYS WITH SWEETGEORGIA, VOL. 1

DESIGNERS Tabetha Hedrick, Design Director for SweetGeorgia Yarns, lives by the belief that joy comes when fully participating in the present moment. And that joy is ever so easy to find when immersed in the world of fibre! When not photographing yarn, writing articles for Creative Knitting magazine as Contributing Editor, designing, spinning yarn, or musing over fiction plots, she fills the time raising two girls, one dog, and one husband in Colourado.

Amanda Bell is a New England native who now lives and knits in Munich, Germany. She and her husband have a new baby whose hobbies include looking handsome in his handmade sweaters and keeping her away from her excellent knitting group.

Deborah Dar Woon has been knitting since she was a small child, learning to knit by making skirts for her dolls on dpns before she found out that knitting back and forth on longer needles made neat stuff too. Now, Deborah knits everywhere from NASCAR race events to her daily public transit commute.
