Background.
The Client: Capella Hotels and Resorts Singapore “At the heart of the Capella philosophy is our visionary curation of culture and experience”.
The Motifs: Capella is the brightest star in the constellation of Auriga. The seven pointed star also draws comparison to flowers. Both are considered for the screen design.
Company Philosophy As the Capella star shines out from its place among an intricate constellation, so does the Capella philosophy permeate and unite the group as a single commitment to each guest – the centre of our universe – and the resulting excellence in the craft of hospitality. Each hotel under the management of Capella Hotel Group upholds a legacy of crafted luxury design combined with the highest level of personalised service that is both unique and memorable. Beyond bespoke hospitality is a visionary curation of culture and experience; properties sitting in harmony with their environment.
Translating Nature, Harmony and seabreeze Walking around sungei buloh, the serenity of the place was most striking to us. This mood was created by the light and shadows from the canopy. This playful bokeh effect patterned on us made us feel one with the natural space, hence we seek to replicate this feeling for those who stay in the resort.
The driving cultural experience of the site derives from the tranquility of tropical forests and seaside breeze. Dappled shadows from sunlight passing through the forest canopy became the main feature to replicate into the screen’s effect.
To further accentuate the dappled lighting effect, the screen should employ a wind based dynamic effect such as this example Wind Abor situated at Marina Bay Sands
The concepts shifted from individually framed panels to windmill panels and ďŹ nally to a frameless and spacious spanel spacing this makes the screen suitable for large installations like organic facades, roof paneling or simply a long railing.
