Dedicatory •
I dedicate this book to you fellow teacher, who share with me the love for teaching. I hope you have the illusion, the same one that I felt when I chose it for you.
•
I want to dedicate this work to my loving family to understand me despite not being able to accompany them at all times to show me the way to overcome.
•
To all the teachers who got involved and came to my aid. For sharing and enriching every achievement, every stumble, every knowledge since without the perseverance, the support, and the tireless patience of all of you this would not be possible today: Sonia Barrios, Iván Gómez and Wilfredo Marroquín.
•
I dedicate this book to my friends for allowing me to learn more about life at their side. This is possible thanks to you, in addition to my colleagues who have consciously or unconsciously formed my character, knowledge and experience:

7. Reading:
Read the passage and discuss it with your classmate. Then complete the exercise. “FRIENDSHIP”
Some friends come into our lives for just a short time. Others come and stay forever. Think about your closest friends. How long have you known each other? Some people say that their spouse or family members their best friend. Others say they have known their closest friends for many years. And some great friends haven’t known each other all. That long, but knew right away that there was a connection, or bond, between them. Could it be that there is a twin spirit out there for each of us? What turns a stranger or acquaintance into a friend? Do you know right away if you are going to like someone? Some people think that any stranger can become a friend if they spend enough time together. That may be true for some people. But one thing most of us agree on is that true friendships seem to happen when people have something in common. Perhaps we see a part of ourselves in our friends. Maybe seeing the good in them help us to see the good in us as well.
Circle the correct answer according to the article. 1- Your husband or wife cannot be your best friend. True False 2- Many friends feel a connection when they first meet. True False 3- Every person definitely has a twin spirit. True False 4- A stranger is the same as an acquaintance. True False 5- A stranger is the same as a friend. True False

The Value of Vegetables and Fruit. Doctors say that everyone should take more vegetables and fruit than rice or wheat. Rice and wheat contain much carbohydrate which is quite essential for energy. But more of rice and wheat and less of vegetables and fruit is not a balanced diet. Vegetables and fruit contain nutrients like vitamins, calcium, iron, phosphorus, folic acid, iodine, magnesium, zinc etc. Green leafy vegetables contain a lot of nutrients, especially calcium and iron. We should take one type of green leafy vegetable every day. Spinach is quite good for health.
The cereals such as Bengal- gram, beans, black-gram, horse-gram, maize, millet, raga, red- gram etc., contain much protein which is essential for our growth. Iron and calcium contribute to healthy bones. Asafetida relieves gas from the stomach. Urinal, cabbage, carrot and cluster-beans contain fibrous substance which gives a person relief from constipation. Cucumber, horse radish, lady’s finger, potato, tomato, snake-gourd etc. should find a place in our food items often. All the fruits are good for health. Many of us do not have the habit of eating fruit. This is very bad. Taking orange, apple, plantain, grapes etc. will keep us healthy.

Doctors may tell you that junk food is bad for your health but McDonal’s, Burger King or pizza Hut an prove that young people don’t listen to that advice.. How did the hamburger become the most popular, most typical American food? The hamburger has no connection with ham. It got its name from the German town of Hamburg, which was famous for its ground steak. German immigrants to the United States introduced the ‘hamburger steak’. Then, the introduction of the bun was an important part of the answer. Another important part is McDonald’s, one of the world’s most famous fast food restaurants, you can find them in Japan, Germany, Panama, Guatemala, Australia, Portugal, Hong Kong, and even Moscow. In fact, there are 13,000 in 120 countries. There’s even a floating McDonald's in St. Louis, Mississippi, and another in Alaska. The first McDonald's was opened in Des Plaines, Illinois, and is now a museum. What makes American fast food so popular? Lee Cho, a South Korean, says: “I often go to McDonald's. It's clean, less expensive than other restaurants and saves time.” Natalia Petrovna, a girl from Moscow, says” I find the hamburgers very tasty and the sundaes with caramel sauce are out of this world”. Karen Smith, from Frankfurt: “McDonald’s is our favorite meeting point, we can sit there and talk for hours in a friendly atmosphere. There are lots of young people around. The food is cheap and the milkshakes…yum…” Older people are very critical of this sort of food. The real price of fashion In 2015, a military jacket appeared on the fashion pages of Vogue. There’s nothing unusual about that the price tag was not $2,400,nor even $240. the jacket was made by Primark, and it was on sale for just $24! Women went crazy for it, and Primark was renamed “The new Prada”. At Primark, T-shirt cost $4, pajamas cost $10, suits cost $30, an women’s top cost less than $10. so it’s no surprise that Primark’s profits are increasing and new stores are opening everywhere. So everybody happy, then. Well, no. according to environmental groups such as friends of the Earth,
Cheap clothes are damaging the environment. Costumers are paying low prices for their clothes, but the planet is paying a high cost. The result of low prices is that people are buying more. On average, people now buy fifty items of clothing a year- an increase of 33%. But these clothes are poor quality and they don’t last. You can’t sell them second-hand or recycle them for charity . They are disposable. A spokesperson from the Green Party said, “we are not against fashion, but cheap clothes, not designed to last, are bad for the consumer and the planet.”

Lisa Likes Exercising Lisa goes to the gym every Thursday. She likes group fitness classes and her favorite is aerobics. It’s always such a good workout and the instructor is full of energy. When everyone is tired and sweaty, she yells “Arms up over your head and put your hands together, that’s right, now bend your knees and hold 1 • 2 • 3.” At first, Lisa had terribly sore muscles after class – especially her thighs – but she’s used to it now. Since she started going to the gym she also has less back pain, her muscles are stronger and she feels fit and healthy. She likes exercising. It’s a different story for Lawrence. His belly is too fat and he’d like to lose some weight. The problem is that he hates exercising! Bridgette has trouble too. Her legs are stiff and it’s especially difficult for her to bring her knee to her chest. She doesn’t like that stretch at all. “Don’t let the fatigue take hold. Just 5 more minutes. It's also possible that stress is related to other problems -an increased likelihood of smoking or obesity -- that indirectly increase the heart risks. 8. Reading Read this article and answer the questions Apple Inc plans to use a larger screen on the next-generation iPhone and has begun to place orders for the new displays from suppliers in South Korea and Japan, people familiar with the situation said on Wednesday. The new iPhone screens will measure 4 inches from corner to corner, one source said. That would represent a roughly 30 percent increase in viewing area, assuming Apple keeps other dimensions proportional. Apple has used a 3.5-inch screen since introducing the iPhone in 2007. Early production of the new screens has begun at three suppliers: Korea's LG Display Co Ltd, Sharp Corp and Japan Display Inc, a Japanese governmentbrokered merger combining the screen production of three companies. It is likely all three of the screen suppliers will get production orders from Apple, which could begin as soon as June. That would allow the new iPhone to go into production as soon as August, if the company follows its own precedent in moving from orders for prototypes for key components to launch. Apple's decision to equip the next iPhone with a larger screen represents part of a competitive response to Samsung Electronics Co Ltd. Samsung unveiled its top-of-the line Galaxy smartphone with a 4.8-inch touch-screen and a faster processor earlier this month. With consumers becoming more and more comfortable using smartphones for tasks they once performed on laptops, like watching video, other smartphone manufacturers have also moved toward bigger displays. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

5. Speaking Read the conversation and discuss with your partners. Sarah: Hi Kate. You look so pale. Didn’t you sleep last night again? Kate: No, I’ve spent the whole night to work on my essay. I stayed awake during nights in the past. I'm OK. Sarah: Have you finished your essay? Kate: Not yet. I’m still working on it. It’s about Spanish Civil War. I’ve read two researches on it, but I’m not ready to start writing it. Sarah: What have you found so far? Have you found anything interesting? Kate: Well, the war ended just before the World War 2. The war was between Republicans and the Nationalists and it looks like a rehearsal of the World War 2. I want to read more about it. Sarah: I did a research on World War 2 and wrote a long essay on it. It was really exhausting in the past. There were so many things to read. I’ve been to National Library in the city centre three times. Kate: You gave your essay last term, right? Sarah: Yes, I did. Sarah: Let’s go and drink some coffee then. Kate: Good idea. 8. Reading Read this text about the old colonel and write the main idea of this text. The old colonel I think I have had a very interesting life. I'm 73 now and I don't work anymore. I was in the army for 51 years. I retired when I was 69. I have been to so many countries that I can't remember all of them. I've been to Australia six or seven times and to South Africa three times. I have also been once to Russia but I didn't like it at all: much too cold for me! They say that love is the greatest thing and I agree. I've been married four times but never for more than five years. I don't think women really understand me! I've never been on television, but I've been on the radio once. It was a programme about life in the military about twenty years ago. I met the Prime Minister on the same day. Actually, I've met a lot of famous people: members of the royal family, famous politicians and also famous cinema and television personalities. I've never met the American President though which is a pity. Because I've travelled a lot, I've seen a lot of wonderful things and have also eaten and drunk some strange foods and drinks. I ate cat and rat in India and drank something called Mirto on a little island in Italy many years ago. Universidad Tecnolรณgica de El Salvador (Educational Planning)

Why would you want to do that? Carol: We have a successful track record of buying small companies and turning them into big ones. Mary: In that case, I'm sure we can come to an agreement. But I like the challenge, and I like overcoming danger. That’s why I do it. 3. SW: Alex, have you ever experienced any dangers while ice climbing? Alex: yes, absolutely. When you´re high up on a mountain, the conditions are hard on the body. The air is thin, and it´s very cold. I´ve seen some really dangerous storms. But the great thing about it is how you feel when you´re done. Your body feels good, and you have a beautiful view of snowy mountaintops.
