DIRECT FROM THE WEST END Cole Porter’s Broadway classic Kiss Me, Kate is studded with some of the greatest songs of American musical theatre including Brush Up Your Shakespeare, Another Op’nin’, Another Show and So In Love. Set both on and off-stage during the production of a musical version of Shakespeare’s theatrical farce The Taming of the Shrew, Kiss Me, Kate revolves around the tempestuous love lives of actor-producer Fred Graham and his leading lady turned ex-wife, Lilli Vanessi. They co-star in this hilarious new comedy about the actor’s life, which they have also co-written. Gary Savage and Hugh Delavois were students at RADA together. Now in their sixties, they meet in an Icelandic wasteland, on the set of a fantasy movie. Hugh has had a plodding career but has landed the role of Vulcan’s butler – a small but regular role – and he’s making his seventh film for the franchise. Gary is a one-time Hollywood A-lister who has fallen on lean times, and is playing a guest monster with four hours in make-up and one word in the script. Sparks fly inside the trailer as old wounds are opened and outside things are not going to plan either: the director’s gone AWOL, the catering truck’s on the wrong side of the of a ravine, and the volcanic activity is growing more and more lively by the minute...

EIF - The End of Eddy Workshop for Teachers

The Studio “My crime wasn’t doing something. My crime was being something. Being different in a way everyone else could see.” The Edinburgh International Festival is keen to work with schools booking for The End of Eddy. To explore the themes of the production and gain an insight into the development and staging process, the International Festival is offering a CPD session for teachers, workshops for students and additional learning resources, led by creative practitioners from Unicorn Theatre. Workshops for students and teachers will be held in schools in August. Places are limited and those booking for the production will get priority.

Vintage Chorus 1 May to 3 July
The Vintage Chorus is an informal choir for older singers who have time on their hands and a song in their heart. Led by singer & cellist Wendy Wetherby with pianist Duncan Black, the group sings all sorts of music and everyone’s welcome. You don’t need to be able to read music to join. The focus is on singing together in a relaxed atmosphere, in the lovely surroundings of the Festival Theatre.
