WHAT’S ON from October 2O21
Welcome I can’t tell you how good it feels to be writing this welcome to our first brochure since the pandemic closed our doors in March 2020. Now as restrictions ease we can welcome back large-scale shows and full auditoriums while still ensuring we put the safety and comfort of our audiences first. If this selection of shows doesn’t tempt you back to live theatre then I don’t know what will. Big-budget musicals. Chuckles-aplenty. Chilling noir and the very best from our national companies, Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet and National Theatre of Scotland (NTS). Not forgetting the Christmas we all deserve with the legendary King’s Panto and The Nutcracker. As well as cooking up this brilliant programme of touring productions we’ve been working on creative endeavours of our own, including supporting three young artists to develop and test new musical ideas in our Studio via our Scottish Musical Commissioning Hub; commissioning three new festive shows for early years audiences; and announcing our co-production of James IV - Queen of the Fight with Raw Material, in association with NTS which you can learn more about in our next brochure. We can’t wait to see you! Fiona Gibson CEO Capital Theatres

Sunny, funny and with more ‘tra la la las’ per square inch than any other opera in the canon, The Gondoliers is a joy from start to finish. In a flight of the satirical whimsy so typical of Gilbert & Sullivan, two happy-go-lucky gondoliers discover that one of them is, in fact, heir to the throne of a distant kingdom. True to their (adopted) Republican roots, they set off together to rule in idealistic, if somewhat chaotic, style... Tickets from £22.50 Friends £3 off (excl.
