The PROPOSAL As Told By The Bride

Markus surprised me and took us to Painting With A Twist. I remember catching him in a daze at one point during the date and asked him if he was okay. Lol We went home to get ready for dinner and my mom and sister were really boosting my head up for such a basic outfit. Markus was late both times picking me up and I was more suspicious now. Once we left the house, I thought it would be funny if my family were running around getting ready for my proposal, but I knew it was wishful thinking. Funny thing was that they actually were! We went to The Melting Pot and ate a romantic dinner and I knocked out in the car on the way to the hotel. Markus said he was going in to drop something off to his mother. I believed him and continued my nap. I missed her call, but Markus’ call somehow scared me out of my sleep! I rushed into the hotel and saw her waiting for me. When Mrs. Minerva opened the door, I felt like I was witnessing a dream in slow motion. Earlier that day and every second leading up to that moment was amazing. It had to be one of the sweetest, most romantic and planned out moments. It was so easy saying YES!

As Told By The Groom

Besides our wedding day, August 29, 2020 will forever be the most memorable day of my life. I could hardly sleep the night before. I woke up that morning excited, nervous and anxious in anticipation for the big day. I thought to myself, “I perform in front of thousands of people and I’ve never been this nervous in my life”. I was seriously struggling to breathe throughout the day because I desperately wanted Aliyah to be surprised and everything to run smoothly. I wanted the whole day to be memorable and special for her so I planned an entire day of events leading up to the proposal. The day began with a painting date at “Painting With A Twist”. Following this we freshened up for our 5pm dinner reservation at one of our favorite restaurants called, “The Melting Pot.” Afterwards I received a phone call from my mom asking if I could bring a bag to her that she left in my car. Little did Aliyah know we were moments away from the proposal. I went inside by myself, dropped the bag off and settled in for Aliyah’s entrance. Aliyah was called in shortly after to help my mom with a few last minute tasks. As she entered the room she was surrounded by family and I was standing in the back of the room. She realized what was happening and I could not stop smiling the rest of the night. I asked my best friend to marry me. The cherry on top for me was the fact that I proposed to Aliyah at the same hotel we met at seven years prior.
