The Proposal
W
AS TOLD BY THE BRIDE
ow! The proposal! I still get chills just thinking about the moment. He had planned an outing at the Miro Mountain in Jaco. He said the views were amazing and that we would have our photos taken. I didn’t think anything of it. I just knew that I needed to be cute for those photos that he spoke of. Now, when he said a “little walking hike”, I’m thinking something small like a walk in the park. No! I was wrong, we hiked 2 miles; 500 ft elevation. As I am trekking up the mountain I am sweating profusely, like it is 100 degrees outside. My makeup was running, my edges were sweating, and my feet were hurting. The entire time hour trekking up the mountain I was fuming and cursing under my breath (me being me of course). Anyways, it was all worth it in the end! The views were absolutely amazing once we reached the top. So, we are taking the pictures and I am still annoyed because I am still hot. He looks at me and says the most beautiful speech and I am floored. Next thing you know. BOOM! He pulls out the box and drops to one knee. That moment was everything I could have ever imagined. For the rest of the trip, I asked him to recite the speech over and over. It was the cutest thing.

AS TOLD BY THE GROOM
n the summer of 2020, I began planning the proposal. I was determined for us to have a memorable experience, but I wasn’t sure how or where to achieve it. Fast forward to April of 2021, we went on my birthday vacation to Costa Rica. I was worried that the TSA might discover the ring during inspection. Fortunately, I made it through without a search. Long story short, I told her I booked a birthday photoshoot that required a short walk. She was excited about the shoot until she found out that we had to hike up a mountain to get to the location. You should have seen the look on her face during the hike. She was not happy at all. I just knew I was in trouble. The photographer and I actually spoke and planned out the proposal on our hike up the mountain while she was at least 25-35 ft behind us. I could hear her cussing. Once we reached the top, she began to relax. The scenery was magnificent. We posed for photos throughout the duration of the hike. I was still unsure of where to actually do it. I could tell she was still a little annoyed because she kept saying, “are we done yet, can we go eat?”. During the final shots, I turned around and saw that view; that’s when I knew right then. This is it.

Bride & Groom AN INTERVIEW WITH THE
W H O S A I D ‘ I L OV E Y O U ’ F I R S T ? NeNe: Definitely him! Dee: It was me. I said it first. But ask her who slid in the DMs first? But forreal, how could you not love her? W H AT WA S Y O U R F I R S T I M P R E S S I O N ? NeNe: Honestly, my first impression was that he was a very arrogant, you know what. But getting to know him, he turned out to be the biggest sweetheart ever.” Dee: I thought, “she alight, I know I can get her number”. From the very first night we met I told her our fate. She tried hard to fight it and look at us now. I was right. WHO IS THE BETTER COOK? NeNe: I have officially come to terms that he is the better cook. Although, I am a GOOD cook. He is definitely the BETTER cook. I like to play it safe and cook what I know. I don’t have time to be standing over a hot stove experimenting. He, on the other hand, is beyond extra in the kitchen. I’ll come home and he’s kneading home-made dough in preparation for empanadas or homemade Vietnamese Pho. Dee: I think everyone knows the answer to that. The question is rhetorical. Have you been over for one of my meals W H AT I S Y O U R FAVO R I T E T H I N G A B O U T H I M / H E R ? NeNe: He has a very positive mentality and approaches every event and situation with optimism Dee: She is a determined, driven, strong-willed woman. She makes sure that her voice and viewpoints are heard. DESCRIBE HIM/HER IN 3 WORDS: NeNe: Loyal, Protector, Compassionate. Dee: Irreplaceable, authentic, inspirational….. and EXTRA!!!!! W H E N D I D Y O U K N OW Y O U F O U N D T H E O N E ? NeNe: He literally makes my entire soul smile. Every experience with him is so authentic and euphoric. It may sound strange, but I can miss him even if I’m sitting right next to him. On this life journey, I believe we come into contact with two types of people. Life’s blessings and lessons. He is unquestionably a blessing. We share more than a relationship bond. There is a spiritual soulto- soul connection between us. It’s like everything was in order…fate. Dee: As cliché’ as it sounds, when you know you just know. There’s just no other feeling like it. She is my joy, she is my gravity, keeping me grounded. Anybody who has truly been in love knows that the person you fall in love with grows and evolves overtime. I have known Anysha throughout her adult life. I can truly say that I fell in love and will continue to fall in love with every version of the person she was, she is, and who she will become.
W H O I S M O R E RO M A N T I C ? NeNe: Him. He’s so thoughtful ya’ll. His attention to detail is unmatched. I am a blessed woman. Dee: Yes, what she said W H AT I S O N E O F Y O U R F U N N I E S T M E M O R I E S TO G E T H E R ? NeNe: He woke up one morning and said he wanted to go water-skiing. It’s worth noting that the trip takes 2-hours one way. I kept reminding him that he should call and do his research, so we don’t waste a trip if they’re closed. He argued me up and down and insisted that he was aware of their hours of operation. So, I took it upon myself to do my own homework to see if the place was closed. It was and I didn’t tell him because he needed to learn a lesson. We drove 2 hours, and I am sitting in the car smiling, eating my tacos because I knew what was coming. The look on his face when we arrived at a closed facility was anticlimactic. I could not stop laughing because he thinks he’s always correct. Yes, I realize I was being petty. However, you may need to teach them at times, ladies! Dee: This particular memory is documented on video. We went on a hiking excursion in the jungle. During our hike, we came to a water pit which was only 3 feet deep. She wanted to be the last one to jump because she is not the best swimmer. I was the first to jump followed by the two tour guides. When it was her time to jump, she cannonballed into the water pit and, rather than standing up (as the 3 examples before her), she began screaming uncontrollably while kneeling. The tour guides and I thought she was joking but she was really panicking. We were yelling, “Just stand-up NENE!” I had to go retrieve her and pull her up to a standing position. I’m still perplexed as to how she could not stand in 3 feet of water despite being 5’3”. I re-watch the video whenever I need a good laugh. W H AT I S T H E M O S T I N T E R E S T I N G T H I N G Y O U ’ V E L E A R N E D A B O U T E A C H OT H E R ? NeNe: That he talks a lot. He has a quiet and reserved demeanor. But don’t be fooled by it ya’ll!! He will talk your ear off [laughter]!! But honestly, he is the most thoughtful romantic person I’ve ever met. He is meticulous in his attention to detail, which I admire. Dee: She is very prompt and thorough. Her time management skills are unmatched. She strives to be on time for all things. If I have to put it into words, she is the Kayne West of time management. Just take for example the engagement pictures! She was in rare form that morning and the week leading up to it. Damn being on a nerve. I was ready to give the whole woman back! W H AT A R E Y O U M O S T E XC I T E D A B O U T O N Y O U R W E D D I N G D AY ? NeNe: I’m most looking forward to watching his reaction when he sees me in my wedding gown. I’m looking forward to seeing his reaction because he’s always assured me that he’ll be able to maintain his cool. I’m also looking forward to watching things come together. We’ve put a lot of thinking and planning into this, and all we want to do is create a memory for ourselves as well as memories for our guests.” Dee: For starters, marrying Anysha, eating the food, and sharing the day with our loved ones. A F T E R T H E W E D D I N G , W H AT ’ S N E X T F O R Y O U T W O ? NeNe: We want to finish building our careers and experiencing the world with lots of traveling and meeting new people. Dee: We definitely want to travel more and make new memories.

We have taken the opportunity of touring neighborhoods and providing you with a list of reasonably priced hotels in close proximity to our location. However, if you want to rent a car, keep in mind that parking is pricey and difficult to come by, and traffic is horrendous. We will however suggest Uber/Lyft to the wedding.
