New Game Systems Create excitement for fans Details on the next generation of game consoles AJ Minnich, Editor-in-Chief Among the twilight of the eighth generation of game consoles, both casual and hardcore gamers alike are excited for the new next gen consoles to drop. Whether it be the beefier performance for competitive games like Fortnite, which will run at 120 fps on the new consoles, or the massive graphical advancements that will result from these new consoles, this generation is already pushing the boundaries for gaming for both console and pc. On Microsoft’s end, it is releasing two consoles at once. First is the Series X,
which is the most powerful of the three releasing this fall, and then there’s the Series S which is less powerful but is significantly cheaper. The Series X has a launch price of $499.99, and the Series S will launch at $299.99. So what is the difference between the two that makes them $200 apart? Well, it mostly boils down to screen resolution. The Series X can run games at a native 4k resolution and run at 120fps, or 8k at 60fps, whereas the Series S runs at 1440p at 120fps. The series S also comes with about half the memory of the Series X with only 512GBs compared to the
1TB that comes with the Series X. Microsoft and many other insiders have assured gamers that the series S will not hold back 9th gen gaming from reaching full potential and still supports ray tracing. Though it is still hard to tell considering the Series S only has 4 teraflops when compared to the Series X that has 12. Sony’s bid for the console war is significantly less complicated and user friendly than Microsoft’s. At $500 the PS5 will launch on November 12. The PS5 is slightly less powerful than the Series X but not by
enough to make a significant difference. It can still run games at 4K 120fps or 8k 60fps so there’s no need to worry there. Whichever side of the console war gamers sit on, it is exciting for all gamers to witness the massive advancements that will come with not only graphics but game design in general from this new generation.

For years, fans have eagerly anticipated the next live-action Batman solo film as the last one released was in 2012. Around 2017-2018 Ben Affleck was set to write, direct, and star in the film, but as the writing process went on, he stepped down as director and recruited Matt Reeves to help write and direct.
However, due to personal issues, such as a struggle with alcohol, Affleck stepped away from the project entirely. With the film’s future in question, excitement from fans started to dwindle since the film switched directors, writers, and stars, but on June 6, 2019, fan excitement came back when it was announced that Robert Pattinson would dawn the cape and cowl and become the next live action caped crusader. Over the coming months, he had also announced the castings of numerous other characters such as Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman,
Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, and Paul Dano as the Riddler. Suffice it to say fan excitement had skyrocketed with what most thought were great castings.
“That was a way to do very emotional stories but under the guise of these sort of great mythic tales” -Matt Reeves This excitement had only increased when Matt Reeves Tweeted out a screen test that gave fans their first official look at Robert Pattinson as Batman. Fast forward to August 2020 and DC dropped the trailer along with an
extensive interview with Reeves at DC Fandome. Within 24 hours, the trailer became #1 trending on YouTube and earned over 20 million views on just Twitter. The dark atmosphere along with a fresh new take on the character that clearly takes from the comic in more ways than one has made The Batman one of if not the most anticipated upcoming movie for both casual and hardcore fans alike.
