Managing Material Libraries and Catalogs Last Updated Wednesday, 21 July 2010 13:06
Overview Project configuration is labor intensive and often occurs later than desired resulting in rework. Each EPC maintains their own catalog data and each software vendor has their own format so sharing information in joint venture (JV) projects is difficult. Suppliers could help but proprietary formats make information exchange more difficult than it needs to be. Today's integrated project environments include multiple parties that are responsible for design, construction and commissioning of the final facility. Turnover to the client requires close collaboration and integration of design deliverables without compromising intellectual property (IP) and minimizing changes for individual company's work-processes. Current business model is that project catalogs are recreated and time is spent converting them between different formats and systems.

Managing Material Libraries and Catalogs Last Updated Wednesday, 21 July 2010 13:06
Project Status This project needs specialists in planning, design, procurement, construction and information integration and data management to work together to define catalog definitions to allow transformation between systems and to simplify project setup in joint venture (JV) projects. Estimated timeline to complete is nine months.
Project Deliverables This project will produce definition of requirements for catalogs and specifications, including geometry for exchange with design tools. Minimum requirements will be defined to meet material management and construction deliverables. The results of this project will then be shared with FIATECH's Information Integration and Data Management team to develop the associated neutral file definition to support the minimum exchange requirements.
